  2. Like the electrical system in the US? One of the funny things about Rural Electrification is how it killed small scale wind power. Back in the early 20th century, there were a number of companies that made wind generators for farms. The turbine, storage batteries, even small appliances & tools that operated off the wind generated power (32v IIRC). Jacobs was one, Wincharger was another. And this all fell by the wayside when the REI came to be. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  3. No. Again, the situations really don't compare. The first is clearly a violation of the couple's civil rights. Gays were designated as a "protected class" due to systemic and pervasive discrimination. Once so designated, any discrimination is, by law, a violation of their civil rights. The baker, by operating a business open to the public, has certain obligations. It's called "public accommodation". Basically, the right of someone to be served without discrimination trumps the baker's right to pick and choose what groups of people they will serve (particularly when it comes to those groups designated "protected classes"). OTOH, I don't see the Berkeley admin as shutting down Coulter as intending to silence her. Or to keep her from sharing her message. They are simply knuckling under to the threats posed by the "snowflakes" who aren't going to hide in their 'safe spaces', but are planning on coming out and disrupting Coulter's speech. Those idiots are violating her right to free speech. Although I'm not sure they could be prosecuted for it. And I don't agree with them cancelling the speech. If there are security threats, deal with them. Bring in extra security forces, use the intel that tells them of the threat to go after those that are making the threats (incitement to violence is one possible charge, conspiracy is another). OTOH, Coulter (and that Milo idiot before her) have a long history of making statements (that are protected speech) that are intentionally provocative. Since the threats to security are a direct result of her prior statements and positions, make her pay for the extra security. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. I'm not sure what you mean by "hard liner". I don't know anyone who has enough experience to know what they are doing who would think it's a good idea for someone with 30 jumps to stick a camera on. And I don't hear anyone going "Tell him he's gonna die if he does it." I'm hearing "Ask the S&T A" or "Look in the SIM" or "Read (insert various threads & articles here)". Or "here are a bunch of incidents that occurred to similar people in similar situations." I've reached the point where I simply ask someone why they are "better" or "different" or "special" and that the rules & reccy's shouldn't apply to them. Sometimes they wonder why I won't jump with them after they give a long winded line of crap about being a "fast learner" or how their experience with motorcycles or skis or whatever makes them exempt. 5. Speaking at a university isn't speaking publicly. Nobody is stopping Ann Coulter from reaching billions on the internet, or to stand on a corner and preach to the locals. Arguments from the righties on here seem similar to the case made by lefties re: "the gay wedding cake", ...i.e., the gay couple's civil rights were violated by the baker (a private enterprise) who refused to bake their wedding cake. Of course, the couple had many other options for getting their cake made and were not prohibited from exercising one of those options. So ...In this case, Coulter's rights are seemingly being violated by the school (a public institution) making it difficult for the students who invited her to meet certain "requirements" which might be unreasonable or unnecessary, and not required, for some other "acceptable" speaker. The argument from the left is that she could just pack up and go speak somewhere else. Therefore, no rights violated. The two situations are totally different. The first is discrimination, pure and simple. In Oregon, sexual orientation and identity are protected classes, the same as race or religion. The bakery was a business 'open to the public' and as such has to follow certain laws. Heath & safety, employment and various other things. By refusing to serve the gay couple, when they serve straight couples in the exact same way, they were discriminating. The same way as if they refused to serve blacks or Muslims. You may or may not agree that "gay" should be a protected class. But it's the law and it's pretty clearly stated. In the Coulter situation, there is a pretty clear and valid threat to security and safety. They aren't cancelling (and apparently have reversed the decision and are going to have her speak) because they don't want her to speak, they are concerned about having to deal with the violence and destruction. I personally think that it's a cop out, and that they should have her speak, and arrest those who beak the law (while allowing those who wish to exercise their free speech to protest peacefully). 6. Bolding mine. Human history is full of examples where "planning for the future" simply didn't happen. And a lot of bad things happened because of it. We tend, as a species, to be pretty short sighted. And stupid. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 7. Well, the Feb issue of Parachutist covered this in the "Safety Check" column (page 55). Have him read it and then tell you why he should ignore it (he shouldn't). Go to the "Photog & Vid" forum on here. Read the stickies. Have him explain why he is 'different' or 'special' (he isn't). The recommendation is a C license (which is 200 jumps, but includes other stuff). Have him explain why that shouldn't apply to him. 8. If I cared what you thought your post might have a piss squirt worth of meaning, but it doesn't. Probably linked from Drudge or something like that. But in any event, please, carry on
  9. "Here we come!!!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O79pJzCDo8 Damn, that was a great scene!!! Absolutely fabulous. Enough "Hollywood License" that it's really hard to watch (the list would be very long, but the pilot firing a Mac-10 one handed and actually hitting anything is a dead giveaway). But a DC-3 with a door gunner doing a strafing run to the Stone's "Satisfaction" is so cool. The "Adios Airlines" part is from the beginning. When they jump out of the '3 into Columbia. That scene is the finale when they just want to leave. The bag full of money has both the drug lord (who's money it is) and the rebels in pursuit. 10. who is Alex Jones? Ask Marc Rush. He seems familiar with Jones's lying web site (even Jones's own attorney admits "Infowars" is just for entertainment). Ohhh infowars Ok I know the site a bit Alex Jones? not so much So are you just forgetful or just happy to quote from garbage sites without checking on their origin? Considering he routinely posts links "in support of his position" that don't actually say what he thinks they do, I'm not too surprised. 11. "Adios Airlines." Stolen from the old James Brolin movie "High Risk." When I was flying the 182, I would occasionally give the "pre-takeoff speech" about making sure seat belts are fastened (real), tray tables stowed and seat backs in the full upright position (not so real). I would always end it with "Thank you for flying Adios Airlines." "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 12. Well, Rush Cube is just Thrill Planet, which is Skyride again. "Booking Agency" is generous. Ripoff is more like it. Search around and you can find out more. Lonestar is decent place. It's the sister DZ to my home, Skydive Midwest. They get "our" Otter in winter. Good people. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 13. A car is already a luxury item. Plus the F150, RAM Trucks and Chevy Trucks all sold more units than the Camry. Corolla was also down almost 10%. The bifurcation in retail is definitely happening. It may help you too look at a grander scale and not just at one line of luxury items. Well, at least here in the US, a car is virtually a necessity. I know a few people who don't own cars, but the number is small. Probably bigger in large urban areas with decent mass transit, but short of that, it's very difficult to live without a car. A new car, however, is most definitely a luxury. My last 4 cars were used. All together, they cost less than the new car I bought in 97. 14. Well, after showing both a new ICBM and a Sub-Launched missile (SLBM) at their parade, they had one blow up almost immediately after launch. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/north-korean-missile-launch-fails-almost-immediately-u-s-military-n747006 Its one thing to have nukes (of questionable reliability). Its "a whole 'nuther thing" to develop the delivery capability. Not an easy thing. Ask the US Air Force & NASA. Or the Soviets. A lot of rockets & missiles got turned into very expensive fireworks during the fifties & sixties. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 15. ^This. Big time. I've heard it said "I still get butterflies, but I've taught them to fly in formation." Or something like that. I also was told a while back, by a very experienced camera flier, that he was still nervous before every jump. He said (more or less) that if the day ever came that he wasn't, then it meant that he wasn't taking the risks seriously and it was time to call it quits. 16. Given that the North Korean government seems to have no qualms about using a nuclear bomb if they can fire one at us and/or South Korea, I'd agree. Those fuckers seem to be the only country in the world willing to do so without a conscience. Maybe, maybe not. I won't disagree about the lack of conscience. Kim Jong Un and his entourage will do anything to anyone to stay in power. He takes out opponents, even relatives, with regularity, although the reported ways & means that he uses are probably exaggerated. The DPRK is damned near a medieval, feudal kingdom. Certainly a "hereditary kingdom." Absolute power, son takes over from the dead father, all that. Including, of course, the familial ties and loyalties, treacheries and rivalries. KJU has absolute power, but faces internal threats. But his endgame is to stay in power. I would bet KJU knows full well that he would never win a war with the west. If he attacks conventionally, he will basically repeat 1950. Huge advances south until the US can get forces into position, and then he'd get clobbered. And it's unlikely the Chinese would enter this time, so he'd be done within a few months. If he uses nukes, Pyong Yang will become the proverbial "glass parking lot". Given that KJU has remained in power for as long as he has, he's at least reasonably smart. Much of his rhetoric is directed at his own people. He uses it to make himself look more powerful and retain control. He likes to push the west to the limit, and then just a little bit further. Each time he gets away with just a bit more. Never far enough to generate real reaction or consequences. Actual attacks (conventional or nuke) would result in those real consequences. In a rather perverse and almost funny way, Trump as president may make him more circumspect. With previous presidents, he knew they were conservative, predictable and very unlikely to make rash decisions. KJU is likely smart enough to understand that Trump is none of those. And that if he pushes "just a bit", Trump may well overreact. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 17. Ya, I know. This is all just a fucking game to you. If you have something with some substance to add, I'm willing to listen. Substance? You mean like the fact that the more you post, the more obvious it becomes who you really are? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 18. Yeah, and they will probably let him off if he does that. I assume that a gov in office is immune to normal prosecution and answerable only to the state legislature through impeachment... but after one resigns can a DA then hold him accountable for criminal misconduct that happened while he was gov? No. They are not immune. Generally, they either resign or are impeached and removed before the criminal charges percolate through the system and a trial is actually held. For example, 4 of the last 7 governors of Illinois went to prison. If you search "Illinois Governors" the 'suggestions' will include "in jail" at the top. 19. Was Merick Garland not qualified? NO, because he was a leftist? You did ask That's funny. Orrin Hatch said: And when Obama went and did just that, the Rs threw a tantrum. 20. Take a DEEP BREATH, it is true. Not in the Washington Times it isn't (That "news" outlet is owned by the Rev Sun Myung Moon, chief of the "Moonies). All I have to do is read the headlines on the other stories (along the right side) and I see that what is on here is a bunch of crap. Any actual facts are going to be overshadowed by a whole lot of garbage. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 21. No. Trump is president. He has the "right" to get consent for his nominee. They didn't give "consent" to Obama and his nominee because... The Rs didn't think he should have any rights. 22. And Trump is back with his latest crazy! ======= .@FoxNews from multiple sources: "There was electronic surveillance of Trump, and people close to Trump. This is unprecedented." @FBI ======= Of course, that was people at Mar-A-Lago taking selfies with him . . . Unprecedented? Please. The FBI handles "counterintelligence" in the US. Spycatching if you will. They routinely keep tabs on suspected foreign intelligence agents, and those in close contact with them. So for the FBI to have surveillance (including electronic) on the Russians and those in their employ, that is business as usual. Trump chose to cozy up with them. So he falls into the net. As do his minions. Flynn for one example. Sessions for another. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 23. Nobody is saying you aren't a jumper. But your posts, from the very beginning, have been pure "I love the Kremlin" themed. You even claimed that the Russian strikes in Syria were against ISIS, when they were going after civilians (and questioned whether or not it was Russian airstrikes that hit the hospitals - who else had planes in the air in that vicinity?) You make repeated claims with no backup. Typical. We've seen "you" before. "Nebylyin" (or something like that) was one of you. He was pro-Russian in the Ukraine situation. He loved to claim that the Ukrainian government (the one that took over from Putin's puppets) were all Nazis. Clint Watts testified before the Senate Intel committee this past week. The evidence of Russian "involvement" in the campaign is pretty solid. His main point was how the "human aspect", the propaganda aspect of the involvement was virtually unnoticed, yet very powerful. You know, spreading of "baseless bullshit" to sway the masses. Something the Russians have been rather good at for a very long time. Edit to add: Flynn is in more hot water. Failed to disclose payments... From Russia. Including "RT", which has close ties to Putin. Go figure. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  24. It depends. Immunity is granted by "the prosecutor." Since Sessions has recused himself from the case, he is no longer "the prosecutor." So it would fall to the "special prosecutor" to decide who gets immunity and who gets charged. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 25. I wasn't referring to the USA, the same applies for Europe. As for what you referred to, hat single incident (the Bowling Green Massacre) was the only such plot ever even detected. There was no "plot" attached to the "Bowling Green Massacre". The two Iraqis who were deported were not suspected of any terrorist activities in the US. They were trying to send money and weapons to Al Queda in Iraq. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/03/politics/bowling-green-not-massacre-terrorists-trnd/ "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
