I live about a block from a cemetery. When the wind blows hard from the north, I get plastic flowers in my yard on a regular basis. Where would we be? Likely we'd have some area of the country that was uninhabitable, not unlike Chernobyl. Both Chernobyl and Three Mile Island were very serious. TMI didn't release much radiation, but the hydrogen bubble could have easily exploded, blowing the top off of the reactor. They also came fairly close to a meltdown. Had either of those happened, parts of southeastern PA would still be a wasteland. The really "fun" part is that both of them were human error. You can design the best reactor and support systems in the world, but you still have people running them. There were also a number of issues with construction of some of the plants. Corners were cut by the construction companies in the name of profit. Some of those could have had serious consequences. I'm not against nuclear power in general, but it has to be done right. Either claim it's "Fake News", the source is biased, or simply refuse to believe it. And the flip side is that they also seem to believe anything they "like". Short answer: Yes, they are that important. They provide fall rate control (both faster or slower), more control in freefall than just bare limbs, more power for tracking (booties), places for taking grips (grippers), a smooth, tight surface that won't blow up and over handles and last, but not least, some protection in case of a bad landing (there are TIs out there that have Kevlar panels for the sliding landings they do). Kinda depends on the prayer. If its something like "God, please give those idiots a revelation and make them see the truth, and if they can't see the truth then just smite them from the face of the earth", then I pretty much doubt it. Ok, I'll bite. Why do you want to BASE jump? What is it that attracts you as opposed to just jumping out of a plane? What risks do you think you are avoiding doing it off of a really tall building with skydiving gear? Since it's outside the US, getting permission is actual possible, although difficult. But Dubai is strict enough that I doubt that it would happen. And for an 82 jump wonder with no BASE experience, I'd put the chances of getting permission at zero. They are going to look at you and decide they don't want to have to clean up the mess. But there are always ways to sneak in, pick locks, get on the roof and jump. But, again, Dubai is pretty strict.
