The president may not be taking a low 6-figure government salary, but he chooses to take his weekends and holidays at COMMERCIAL properties he owns. This is a business for him, and he's making REAL money while "donating" his time (or his salary -- which can be a tax deduction if he's really donating it to charity). Not that there's any real surprise to this behavior. His whole campaign used the same technique. A vast majority of the campaign expenditures were spent at/on Trump enterprises. All of the events were at Trump owned locations. All of the travel was on Trump airline, all of the campaign offices were at Trump properties, all of the food was catered by Trump food services. He conned his supporters into paying himself for all of this. It's illegal to simply keep the money, but he found a way to make sure he got to pocket the majority of it. They could have also given it to the FBI to start correcting any issues that might be there. They have also refused to do that. Well, "control over climate" is a strong phrase. What we have 'control' over is how much damage we choose to do. For example, we really don't have "control" over the ozone layer. But we do have control over how much CFCs we release into the atmosphere. By strictly limiting that, we have significantly reduced how much damage we are doing to the ozone layer. And we've seen results. In a similar vein, we don't have control over rain. But we have control over the crap we spew into the air that affects the rain (acid rain). By limiting sulfide emissions, we've seen a huge decrease in acid rain, and an equally huge recovery in the ecosystem. Both of the above happened in a relatively short time. Both of the above were dismissed by those who were negatively impacted by the restrictions. Whether or not we can stop damaging the climate by pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is a challenging question. There are places in the world where deforestation is happening at an alarming rate. If you tell those people that they have to stop doing that because their grandchildren will pay the price, they will tell you that they have to do this to survive today. It's not that they don't care about the future, it's that they need to care more about the immediate future than the distant future. The designer that put a 'destroy everything' button next to a door open button needs a slap. That's my thinking as well. A destroy everything button thats even easily available and accessible to a cleaner is a spectacularly bad idea hence why I am always sceptical of the stories. Well, there's a difference between a "destroy everything" button and an "Emergency Shutdown" button. The latter needs to be readily accessible, due to the fact that it will need to be used in an emergency. The lack of "guarding" on it is a bit foolish. Most of the ones I usually see (fuel pump shutoffs) are behind glass. Readily accessible when needed, but hard to push by accident. Well, given that people can be really, really stupid about stuff, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if there are stories of people going outside and trying to find a vantage point to get a good view of it coming in. I know they go too fast for much of a view, but that's not the point. There was a story a few years ago about an undersea earthquake causing a tsunami warning along the coast of Oregon (this was a couple years after the big Indonesian tsunami). So how did people react? They went down to the waterfront to watch it come in. However, this warning was questionable to begin with. While the DPRK has missiles and warheads, they really don't have them dialed in. They haven't really figured out re-entry and their guidance is rudimentary at best. They also know perfectly well that sending a missile at Hawaii is signing their own death warrant. They are really good at "poking the bear" without crossing the line and generating retaliation. This would be well beyond that. What is a timely manor to repair a vehicle? I have known people to work on a vehicle for 10 or 15 years before fireing it up for the first time. What is wrong with fences? They make good neighbors. By making it hard to encroach on you. HOA's suck "Timely manner" would be actually working on it. Not leaving it out in the driveway, where the rusty water dripping off leaves very dark stains on the pavement. I don't live in a "HOA community", but there is a local ordinance requiring any car parked outside to be plated and registered. You can have anything you want inside a garage or enclosed building (not one of the 'tent enclosures'). And depending on the layout, a high fence could easily block scenic views, block sunlight for indoor or outdoor gardens, screw up drainage, various things. I'm not a big fan of them, nor would I want to live in one, but for people that want a "certain appearance standard" they serve their purpose. I know of some that prohibit boats or campers parked in the driveway or alongside the house, or even prohibit cars being habitually parked in the driveway. Dontcha just love it when you ask a specific, detailed, direct question and all the folks answering it answer everything but what you were asking for? The stuff I have in my box is 1" OD, 1/8" wall and 3/4" ID. A piece I just pulled off an old rig down in my basement has a slightly thinner wall (0.10" vs 0.125") and slightly smaller OD. But still approx 3/4" ID. It seems to be different (softer). I think the stuff in my box was vinyl from the hardware store. The stuff off the old rig may be silicone. Hope this helps you.

I'm more optimistic than you. Your nation is not actually changing. The current situation is just shining a light into some of the dark corners of the closet. America is still great and the Trump era is going to end with a strong showing of that greatness. Those who are riding on his coattails are going to regret it soon enough. ^This. We had the illusion that we had come a long way towards an actually equal society for women and minorities. The reality was that racism and misogyny were still very common and popular. When Obama was elected, it seemed that we had seen the "beginning of the end" of that sort of garbage. The reality was that all of the "closet" racists and bigots were outraged and started to show their true colors. The "birther" crap, the "secret muslim" crap, the 'communist influenced" crap, the "We will oppose any legislation that Obama proposes" made it pretty clear that the biggest thing they didn't like was the color of his skin. Many of those people wouldn't even admit their racism even to themselves, pretending that they were questioning his qualifications. Yet they supported Trump, who is clearly incompetent and pretty clearly a con man. Trumps rise to prominence was facilitated in large part by all of these racists and bigots "crawling out from under their rocks" and supporting his "Muslim ban", "Mexicans are rapists" comments, and all the other shit he spewed. Women's issues are strikingly similar. Despite all the advances, the "Me Too" movement has clearly shown that there are still a lot of men who abuse their power for sexual gratification. Politicians, celebrities, business moguls, the entire spectrum. The positive side of this is the fact that the "light is being shone" upon all of this. It's no longer a secret. It's no longer acceptable. Many people who stood on the sidelines are taking a stand. The elections in VA and AL are potentially predictors of what will be coming. How many people were so disgusted by the choices in 2016 that they didn't vote? How many of those now regret those choices and will vote against the racist, bigotend and misogynistic party this time?
