Well, this has been the season of "was that a catch or not". The rules for a catch are something like 3 pages long. And confusing as all hell. Possession, making a 'football move' and 'becoming a runner' are just part of it. 'Going to the ground' and 'two steps' are another (ask Dez Bryant about that distinction). There have been a lot of situations where what appeared to be a catch, quoting the rules (by the commentators) was overturned. This has been going on for a couple years, but it got really bad this year. I think Chris Collingsworth made a comment to the effect of "It looks like it was a catch, but with the way they've been calling them this year, it will probably be overturned". And then it was upheld. Which kind of sums up how it's been. I listened to "Golic & Wingo" (used to be "Mike & Mike" on ESPN radio) this morning, they were generally in agreement with what was called. They had Drew Brees (QB for the Saints) on this morning and he made the suggestion that they have a panel of 6 year olds in the New York office (where the final calls on this sort of thing are made) and for calls of this nature, simply ask the 6 year olds "was that a catch" and go with what they say. And yet the "Trumpettes" and their cheerleaders are all claiming 'victory' and that the memo proves the Mueller investigation should be shut down. Their grasp of reality is getting more and more tenuous. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Those two statements are diametrically opposed to each other. The idiots who abuse the system don't show any consideration or concern for anyone else. That selfishness and self-centeredness is not limited to the "emotional support animal" crowd, but they are a clear example. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Wanna bet? I've had a "crip card" before. To need the close parking spot because I couldn't walk, and then to see an idiot do just that was really annoying. I won't post what I did on here, even though the statute of limitations has run out. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." And many of the moderated ones have an "Off Topic" forum for this sort of "Screaming and Yelling." At least the car ones I'm on do. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
What are you talking about? Did you even read the "memo"? It's absolutely hilarious. Steele put the memo together for the DNC. That's not secret, that's not news. Steele pissed off the FBI because he talked to the media about the dossier he put together for the DNC. That's also neither secret nor news. Is the Steele dossier accurate? Not addressed. Not in any way. Not exactly sure how "deep state" or "corruption" (except maybe by Trump) or HRC's guilt is in any way addressed. But the "radio commentary" you listen to is probably chock full of claims about that sort of thing. Just like 'Pizzagate'. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Recommended exercises/stretches pre AFF
wolfriverjoe replied to ninjagogo12's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, think about what kinds of motions and actions you are going to be doing and stretch appropriate to that. I like to stretch out my back (bending forwards, backwards, sideways & twisting). A few squats to work my legs a bit. Arms behind my back and upwards to work my shoulders. Maybe a couple of PLFs onto the packing mat to loosen up and get ready for a "less than graceful" landing. Then I scrunch myself up into the smallest ball I can and hold that for 15 minutes to simulate the plane ride. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Woman tried to take a full grown peacock on a United Airlines flight as an emotional support animal, but the airline wasn't buying it. WTF? I raise peacocks and I never go into their enclosure without a club in hand. Those birds are big, strong, and aggressive. Don Yup. The local morning radio guys were talking about this some. One of the regular listeners (goes on the trips, donates autographed music memorabilia for the fund raiser auctions, ect) also raises peacocks. He has about 30 of them. He called in and said that, while they can be very calming and soothing, he would never put one in close proximity with people in an enclosed area like that. Give all the people who need an "emotional support animal" a teddy bear. And a security blanket if needed (a la Linus from Peanuts). The fake "service animal" craze has gotten way out of hand. I know people who have real service animals. Properly trained, medically necessary, all that. Absolutely amazing what some of them can do. The fakes do them a great disservice when they misbehave. Well, as far as voters and elections go, you are absolutely correct. In a court of law, however... How many minions, aides, secretaries, domestic staff (the guy who brings his Diet Coke for example) would it take to convince a jury? I don't know. But as I noted above, I bet there are lot of people who have overheard his blustering and bragging. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Dude, the entire state is a wind tunnel. But horizontal, not vertical. You could harness that and create the first 'environmentally friendly' tunnel ever. Just put a big funnel on it's side and direct the wind into a vertical tube. Once that plains wind starts up (and it's pretty constant this time of year), you can get a good amount of airflow. No cost for electricity, super cheap land, lots of unemployed oil workers to build it for you. Only downside is lack of customers. There really isn't anyone in ND. Gonna guess that the current formation record isn't all that big. I know the women's record is (or at least recently was)... Four. In other words, they're consistent with their values. Wendy P. I think it is more of a myopic opinion. Several posters here salivate at the opportunity to call me a racist. I am not but that means nothing to them. They know who they are. Wow. You think you are so important that people on here 'salivate' at the opportunity to insult you? I don't know you in person, but some on here do. I can only go by what you post on here. It's entirely possible that your 'persona' on here is a complete facade. Utterly fictional and unlike who you really are. Considering the consistency of your thoughts and ideas over the past few years that we have both been posting, I don't believe that is true. I think what you post is what you really thing and believe. And much of that is disparaging, condescending and patronizing towards minorities. You claim that you aren't a racist, and I have no doubt you believe that. But so did Levi Pettit. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Well, yes and no. Apparently, Trump told a minion to fire Mueller. The minion said he would quit before doing so. This, all by itself is not 'obstruction of justice.' Just like the firing of Comey wasn't, all by itself. BUT... If Trump intended to hamper, or eliminate altogether, the investigation into Russia's interference with the election and the collusion of the Trump campaign with Russian nationals, then it is obstruction. Seeing as Trump asked Comey specifically to 'make the investigation go away' and fired him when he wouldn't, that would go a long way towards proving obstruction. If Trump can be shown to say anything like "I want that investigation stopped. Fire Mueller so that the investigation goes away", then that would go a long way towards proving intent. One or two instances of this sort of behavior, one or two witnesses testifying that Trump made incriminating statements will not prove intent or obstruction. However, I have a 'funny feeling' that there will be a lot more than 'one or two.' "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It is the same with you and the others. It is the process we go through to chose a side. Well, unfortunately there are a lot of people like that. They don't exactly "Choose" a side. They've already made their choice. So they support 'their guy' (or girl) no matter what. They ignore reality, and believe the most outrageous bullshit. Whether it's believing negative stuff about the opposition (Benghazi, Obama is a Kenyan, Muslim, communist, ect), disbelieving positive things about them (economy prospered under Obama, Hillary was very experienced for the job), disbelieving negative things about "their guy" (Russia, sexual assaults, con man) or believing positive things (Trump is a 'successful businessman', he's improved the economy, he's a 'strong leader). The idea of critical thinking and healthy skepticism are completely lost on this sort of crowd. Along with the idea that the opposition could do anything right, or 'our guy' could do anything wrong. That 'five things' link you posted up thread is a fantastic example of this. It's pathetic, stupid... and dangerous. These people are the sort of 'sheep' that allow demagogues to become dictators. Because it would contradict what they want to believe. Just like they can't believe that HRC had nothing to do with Benghazi. Or that Obama was born in Hawaii. They are so wrapped up in what they want to believe that they ignore reality. They call it "Fake News" and pretend it isn't true. The fact that the "Toddler in Chief" does the exact same thing encourages this sort of behavior. I read that link. The "Five Things" are demonstrably false. But 'the faithful' Trumpettes won't believe that, no matter what proof is offered. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." From my understanding, the tariff is imposed on Chinese imports. Thus, it expands the American manufacturing production of these solar panels. It stimulates our GNP. From a very simplistic (and inaccurate) view, yes. But that view ignores the fact that there are very few jobs in the US making the actual solar cells & panels. Most of the jobs involve making the ancillary gear (racks, controllers, inverters ect) and installing the setups. Many (like upwards of 36,000) jobs are now in jeopardy because of this stupid tariff. That the industry itself didn't want. Well, the solar industry didn't want. Fossil fuel people are happy as hell about it. Here's a fun thought (courtesy of "Washington Week" on PBS): How many WH staff members has Trump shot off his mouth to about this (firing Mueller)? Bragging, casual comments, stuff that was overheard? There have been something like 20+ staff members interviewed by Mueller and his crew. How many of them can (did) testify about Trump's comments about Mueller? Testimony that would support an obstruction charge? How much of that will Trump be able to remember? Will he be able to remember how many people were told "what"? Without a solid grasp of what the truth is, lying successfully is difficult. Often impossible. There was a comment made about "process crimes" and 'gotcha convictions' based on trapping people in lies because of faulty memories. This is just a bit different. This would be obstruction, and if Trump denies it (presuming multiple staffers told the same story), then it would be perjury. Not "bad memories", but deliberate, intentional lying under oath. You keep saying that. You must know something everyone else doesn't. Let me guess, you watched Hannity and he told you the secret? No, silly. The White House has said that this should all be wrapped up "soon". WH counsel Ty Cobb: So it will all be 'wrapped up', Trump will be exonerated, Mueller will get fired, the Rs will take the mid-terms with a "fillibuster proof" majority... And pigs will fly. Well, it turns out that the (then) 14 year old accuser filed a lawsuit for 'defamation of character' due to Moore's claims that she was lying about his assault. And Moore is now trying to raise funds to pay for his defense. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Kinda funny how you are quoting the "Main Stream Media" here. You claim they are nothing but lies and fabrications when they report stuff you don't like. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo -
Not necessarily. If the video is shot by an employee of the DZ, then it is often (not always) considered "work product" and property of the DZ. So, if the video of the student who cut away way, way, way too low was being shot as part of a student jump, paid to the DZ by the student, to be used to evaluate the landing, being shot by an employee of the DZ, then it is likely "property of the DZ" and under the control of the DZO. Well, it's already a crime to "allow access" in many places. Link:http://leg.wa.gov/Senate/Committees/LAW/Documents/SummaryOfStateChildAccessPreventionLaws.pdf But it's often not prosecuted. And how far are we going to require gun owners to go? Would locked in a house, but not otherwise secured be prosecuted if the house was broken into? Would locked in a strong box be adequate, if the box was stolen and broken into? Would a heavy-duty safe be adequate? What if someone in the household figured out (guessed or located) the combination? And just minors? How about adults? There's a campaign going on in the Minneapolis/St Paul area about not leaving guns in unlocked cars because stupid people are doing this and finding that the guns get stolen. I was going to post a link, but can't find one. Heard it on the radio the last time I was through that area. Most of the 'mass shooters' are adults. Most use guns purchased through FFL gun dealers. Background check and everything. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Because of the possibility of 'scaring' the AAD into firing when you don't want it to. You have to remember the culture and attitudes back when AADs first came out. They had a nasty habit of firing when they weren't supposed to. And people pulled a lot lower than they do today. So the designers tried to figure out the lowest possible altitude that would still most likely work. As in, if you haven't pulled by then, you aren't going to. Or if you do it won't matter. And still, some people pulled low enough, or had long enough snivels, that they were still going fast enough at 750' to fire the AAD and end up with a 2 out. I know one guy who did this a couple years ago, he ended up with the main and reserve tangling into a big ball of crap. There was an instructor in California (San Diego?) who went low after a student and had this happen a month or so ago, ended up with a two out that downplaned at the last second and was injured (it's in Incidents). Obviously, pulling higher will reduce this danger. I routinely pull at 3k', so I have my CYPRES2 set to 1000. That extra second may (or may not) make some difference if I ever need it. Other people have different opinions, and set theirs differently. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
