  1. It exists as a Federal law that permits headlight modulation under strict rules: https://www.kriss.com/modrules.htm And I have read that if you install one, you better carry a copy of the law, because you will get stopped by cops that don't know about it. The modulated headlights are very 'attention getting'. I never knew the rules for them, thanks for that. I know school buses have strobes on their roof. I'm going to guess that those are 'school bus specific' rules that wouldn't carry over to motorcycles, but a strobe like that somewhere (pointed to the front) would be somewhat helpful. I say "somewhat" because there are always drivers out there that are simply not paying attention. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 2. And another one gone. RIP Matt "Guitar" Murphy. While many remember him as the husband of Aretha Franklin in the movie, his was an amazing life and career. 3. OK will fix. I don't make that distinction but I am sure others will. Well, they are different. Manafort is going to jail, to sit there while he awaits trial. According to the Constitution, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Once that happens (and it is highly likely he will either plead guilty or be convicted), he will be sentenced to prison. Absolutely hilarious that many of the Trumpettes will cling to those distinctions, while believing the most ridiculous of lies from the Right Wing Blogosphere. And as far as the investigation goes, the FBI was investigating possible Russian interference well before the actual election. It didn't start when Trump unexpectedly won. And it wouldn't have gone away if he had lost. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  4. That was said tongue in cheek. Of course, in North Korea, if you don't sit up at attention, you get strapped to an anti-aircraft gun and get blown to smithereens, or attacked by a pack of dogs. If you think Trump is going to threaten anything similar, I'm gonna laugh. You actually believe that, don't you. He told the crowd to beat up a heckler. He even said he would pay for the attacker's attorney. He told HRC that he would put her in jail. He called Nazi's "Fine People". When are the Trumpettes going to admit that he actually means this stuff. He can't pull it off (fortunately), but he certainly wants to. 5. Yes. Very much a 'damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation. By disclosing the e-mails and the fact that they were looking at them, he definitely helped Trump. If he had not done so, all of the right wing morons would have claimed a cover-up of then 'crimes'. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 6. I look down to locate, one hand per handle. I plan on putting my feet on my butt as my hands find the handles and going into a head back, hard arch as I pull the reserve. Don't know for sure because I have yet to do it for real. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  7. Most don't. Seems like enough do. They dont hold him accountable to the topic. They just combat his sporadic talking points. Ask him a question and hold him to an answer. Call out his spin, call out his deflection, call out his dodging. Then go right back to the question. This isn't the press room at the white house, we won't lose are credentials. Treat Rushmc how you wish reporters treated SHS. So how's that working for you? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 8. I find it rather interesting that you are defending your decision to delay pulling your reserve because "RSLs don't ever fail", yet you are delaying your pulling your reserve because you are worried about the risers not releasing properly... Which I can't recall ever happening. It may have, but it certainly doesn't happen often. You have some interesting ideas. New ideas will always receive resistance (We've never done it that way before, the way we do it works just fine, ect). Ask Bill Booth about that. The problem is that you are choosing to chase some ideas that are flawed and ignore folks who have seen and done a lot more than you have yet. Much of the resistance you are getting is based much more on experience (we tried that and it didn't work very well) rather than simple inertia. You need to learn to listen to that experience. Someone has a sigline to the effect of: "Learn from other people's mistakes, you won't survive making them all yourself." (maybe not exactly that, but close enough). I'm not saying you should stop coming up with ideas, you may well come up with something really innovative and useful. But you really need to start listening more to the criticism. You are missing some really valid points about the flaws in your ideas. You also seem to have the idea that there are 'best' ways of doing something. That isn't always true. There are often different ways for doing something that each have their own flaws and merits. One hand per handle or two is one. There are valid reasons for doing either. And valid reasons for not doing either. Cutting away a PCIT mal or going straight to reserve is another. Both can save you. Both can kill you. It's up to the individual to decide which is best for them. And that isn't the same for everyone. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 10. Something to remember with exit separation is that it is the time from when the previous group drops off the plane to the time you drop off the plane. For example, on a typical 7 second (or so) separation, and a 4-way, we will move to the door immediately after the previous group leaves, each person setting up in the door in turn (actually first 2 then second 2). By the time we are in place, with the person counting checking, shaking and then counting, it is very easy to take the proper time (or more) by the time we go. 11. He's perfectly capable. He's a lot more intelligent and articulate than his posts would seem to indicate. He just chooses not to. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  12. Um... no, it isn't. Oh, like you would know anything about the rules and regulations for doing 'government business'. And if it is, how come Trump, Don Jr, Ivanka, Kushner and on and on and on (basically all of them) haven't been castigated by the right wing blogosphere for using... Unsecured private e-mail servers. 13. How strict is your DZ about proper exit separation? How much do they control 'unusual*' stuff like tracking, angle and wingsuits? How well do they communicate things like changes in jumprun? I can easily see how jumpers would not know about a change until they got to the loading area. But it should be made clear to them before they get on the plane (landing direction is the same sort of thing). All of those are indicators of the safety culture at the DZ. Nothing you can do about those other than choose another DZ if you don't like it. Not sure about the video you posted The other canopies don't seem to be 'danger close'. But it's very hard to say due to the effects of the wide angle lenses on most cameras. You seem to be worried that they are 'on level'. If they are all opening at the same altitude, they will be pretty close to being that way. It's the proximity that would be an issue. * I used the word 'unusual' for angle, tracking and wingsuits even though it is pretty common now. But those sorts of jumps can easily put jumpers into places that they wouldn't be if they were falling straight down. They need to be organized and conducted carefully to prevent any traffic conflicts. I've seen some sketchy and potentially very dangerous stuff happen when they weren't. 15. Well, they are more interested in opposing those they disagree with instead of finding out what the actual truth is. We can see that in the mindless parroting of various tweets and Trump's 'talking points', despite the fact that the truth is easy to find and proves them completely wrong. The "US dairy has a 270% tariff in Canada" is a very clear example. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 16. Oh, piffle. Lying to the feds shouldn't be that big of a deal. The important thing is that he says bad things about HRC & the Ds. Haven't you noticed that the Trumpettes believe everything that makes those folks look bad? And everything that makes Trump look good? Truth has far, far less importance to them than whether or not it supports their beliefs. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 17. Well, quite a few of the recent 'skirmishes' have gone to the liberals. Governor in NJ & VA, Senator in AL, Congresscritter in PA. None of those had been in "D" hands for a long, long time. In WI, the (R) Governor had to be forced (by a court order) to schedule special elections. He had refused to do so, fearing a 'Blue Wave' of resentment against the Rs. His fear is not unfounded. I've never voted D in a major election. Not even in a statewide race. But, after the shit show that has been the R party for the past 5 or so years, I will never vote R again. The midterms should be interesting. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  18. Excellent!! Congrats on passing AFF. Glad to hear you've been able to overcome the issues with flaring. Now the real fun begins. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  19. Right. On a tandem mal, clearing the risers is part of the EPs. Tandem EPs are very different than sport EPs. You were taught sport EPs. I would suggest you follow them the way you were taught. Until you start doing tandems, anyway. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  20. Maybe Fox's truth/fact filter was offline. Trump isn't a dictator. He just works for one. He sure as hell acts like he wants to be one. During the 'patriotic songs' rally that replace the Philly Eagles appearance (Trump cancelled the Eagles appearance when it became really obvious that many of the Eagles were not going to show up), there were throngs of "Eagles Fans" in attendance. But they were wearing suits. And they weren't drunk. And they acted civilized. Nobody climbed any light poles. So some of the reporters questions whether or not they were real Eagles fans. It turns out they were WH and congressional interns and RNC staffers. Who were told to show up. https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/the700level/who-were-all-those-eagles-fans-white-house-today So we have a President who has to order staff members to show up at an event. How is this not despotism? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  21. Are you referring to "training dummy reserves"? That is, a training tool that is a real chest mount reserve container, that is set up to make it much easier to pack because it will be used repeatedly. My understanding is that the more elaborate ones were actual round reserve parachutes that had several panels removed. The lines were just laid in the bottom, not daisy chained or anything like that. The students had to learn a 'scoop and throw' technique to deploy the reserve, this setup allowed them to learn how to toss out the canopy. The lines didn't matter all that much. 22. You might try ParaGear. They're in Skokie. Betsy Hoats works there (she has said this on here, so I'm not 'outing' her). She's on here as Betzilla: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?username=betzilla; Alternatively, Skydive Midwest is about 20 miles north of the WI/IL border, which is closer than SDC or CSC, depending on where you are in Chicago. There's no mention of the loft or rigging facilities on the site, but they have them. https://skydivemidwest.com/ "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 23. That FB clip was posted by the MARS Special Operations Group. The main point is we do not like Obama or his former administration. We share various forms of entertaining news to support our emotions. Attached is another one. Anger takes many forms of expression. It is a tactic you people, liberals, use often. Then get your nickers in a swivet when it comes back to you. We are still in a culture war with plenty of insanity on both sides. This thread has drifted based on my one comment that President Trump's tweet made sense to me, creating an intolerable position for y'all to handle. That fact that I understand is something you people cannot understand. So you spread blatant lies (and not even very good ones) about people you hate. As noted above, there is a commandment about that, isn't there? You are angry at Obama, the reasons you state are lies. So you spread more lies. You may feel that you are in a culture war, the only ones 'at war' are the ones spreading lies and hate. Of course Trump's comment made sense to you. As does the rest of his behavior. It's all based on lies and hatred. Your stock in trade. I think we all understand. Dan is right. No guts. No integrity. No surprise there. 24. The worst students often make the best instructors. Not just in skydiving, but in anything. They can empathize with the struggling students far better than those who sailed right through.
