  1. Picture, please. And let's keep in mind that all bi-curious girls get a +1 in the 1-10 meter. I'm not saying she's definitely bi-curious. I just assume that all annoying bf's are secretly in love with the girl which is why they get more annoying when a new boyfriend arrives.
  2. Well, his name is "Iago," a villain known for his conniving words, but with very poor timing in the end. BTW, Iago, thanks for the information. I had forgotton all about after hearing about it so many years ago. When Ross Perot was running, he was an independent, right? Hadn't yet formed the Reform Party. So, I gather they didn't get any of that money the next election, right? Am I wrong here? Did the Reform Party come together before or after that election? Ah, fuck it, I'll go look on Wikipedia. Edit to add: Ok, I looked it up. He did form it afterward. So, if he formed it before the election, that party would have gotten public funding since he got something like 19% of the vote.
  3. I agree with Squeek here. I work with kids that don't speak English as their first language. Their hard work doesn't always translate into standardized scores. They need much more time to write a paragraph or read a book. When they get that time, coupled with patience, they perform well. In these test situations, they tend to freak out or turn off. If a merit system is based on standardized tests, some teachers will either get hosed or not want to work with troubled kids, English language learners, or mentally challenged kids. They will be "left behind." If a merit system is based any other way like behavior in the classroom or observations my administration, this may lead to corruption within the system with friends of the administration getting the most money rather than teachers who deserve it. Last year, we started a testing called NWEA. I forget what the acronym stands for. It's a computer test that gauges the ability of the student in various areas and it's done several times through the year. Kids like taking it better because they can see their own success instantly and have pride in doing better (unlike the STAR testing where they just don't care). I wouldn't mind if this were the way to gauge a teacher's ability. Ninety-six percent of my students improved their NWEA scores consistently throughout the year last year. Someone give me a raise!!
  4. So yo dont consider yourself accountable to your students? Glad you are not part of my faculty, I tend to upset teachers who dont do their jobs very well and seem to care even less. Lighten up, Francis. I was joking. Edit to add:
  5. I keep meaning to find out the general beliefs of the LIbertarian party, but I never get around to it.
  6. Yeah, I have tenure, but so what? It's not like there's any teacher accountability anyway.
  7. Exactly. I never understood surfers' attitudes when it came to this. I tried surfing. It was fun, but it wasn't so big of a deal that I would constantly think about it and not care about real life stressful situations. But this...? Damn.
  8. I'm too new to know for sure, but this year, I'm less likely to get on a student's case for screwing around instead of doing their homework. As a result, they're less educated since I only give homework that matters rather than just busy work. I care less about their education because I just say to myself, "Fuck them. It's their choice, I'm going skydiving this weekend." So, for my mental health, it's great. For the slacker kids at James Logan High School, there's one less positive influence in their lives pushing them to do their best in school. But...you never know...I could snap out of it some day.
  9. I used to think this way. Now I'm convinced that the less people that vote the better. It gives more power to my vote and there are some SERIOUSLY poor reasons people are using to vote.
  10. Morphine kicks ass. I don't have an adictive personality, but I'm thinking about faking a kidney stone or something to get me some more of that.
  11. I had a tingly sensation during a recent freefall. My wife was calling me and my phone was vibrating.
  12. Ok, so I looked up "alienation of affection" for Arizona. No, I'm not a lawyer, but I have a search engine. Arizona doesn't have that right anymore. Pity. I would love to see that happen to the douche.
  13. So when it does, should we take you off the list? It's official. I am finally off this FUCKING list! And it was soooooo worth the wait. You're welcome. You're trying to take credit for me removing myself from the list?? I know a nice gentlemen who would probably be a little pissy for someone else taking all the credit for his work! There was another guy? How many were there? Just one very awesome guy. And that one was enough. OH!!! I'm sorry. You're LuckyMcSwervy. The girl I was with was LickyMcSwirly. Sorry. Mistaken identity.

  15. "Who steals my purse steals trash; tis something, nothing; 'twas mine, 'tis his, and has been slave to thousands; but he that filches from me my good name robs me of that which not enriches him, and makes me poor indeed." -Othello, A3; S3 Of course, Iago is playing Othello for a fool when he says this to him. So, go ahead and steal her purse...and her good name! "Busy days"? I was just watching football, doing laundry and working out.
  16. I'd like to put RkyMtnHigh on this list. Then I'd like to get her off the list.

  18. I love you, man. "DID YOU EVER KNOW THAT YOU'RE MY HEEEEEROOOOOO?"
  19. Lost and Crazy is my new hero. Suing the guys she's banged? LOL! That's some good shit. To the OP. I was reading your post, thinking to myself, "She's just making excuses. There's another guy." Sure enough, at the bottom of your post, you talk about looking at her cell phone. That's evidence, man. Take that shit to your lawyer. You put her through school. The plan was her putting you through school. That's in jeopardy now. SHE. OWES. YOU. Get what's yours.
  20. I really hope you're right. It's moronic to give a guy with three fights a title shot, especially since the guy who beat him is waiting on The Ultimate Fighter to end to get a shot at what was supposed to be the heavyweight title. I really want Randy to win. However, I can see Lesnar taking Couture down, throwing lame punches, but using his weight and wrestling to keep him down and winning a boring decision. I can't see Lesnar knocking him out or submitting him. I also can't Couture avoiding the take down forever. With that said, Courture has already mentioned that there are some definite weaknesses in Lesnar's game. And he's right. His punching sucks, surprisingly so. He is VERY quick to shoot, but if a fighter like Courture knows the shoot is coming, it can be stuffed, even with the weight disparity. I just don't see him stuffing it all night. Couture has got to take BIG advantage of the times he does stuff it. I'd love to see Lesnar take a knee to the face.
  21. I think what happens much more is that some people don't bother to vote. I can easily see Republicans in California or Democrats in Oklahoma not bothering to vote because they feel there's no point. I can't see a poll changing a person's mind in who they would vote for, but I can see someone looking at the polls and thinking that they won't bother to show up to vote at all.
  22. Honestly, though, what are you supposed to do? Lock your kid in their room every time you have to go to the bathroom? Did you never not listen to your parents as a kid? Wow, I really can't stand that sort of attitude regarding kids. If a parent teaches kids EARLY to do as they're told, they will do it. Kids will misbehave on much smaller issues, but on big ones like this, they won't if the parents are engaged, stick to their guns regarding consequences, and spend time with their kids. It takes a lot of effort, granted, but it works. They are worth the effort. Me personally? I don't see the relevance, but I'll answer. I did some minor things I wasn't supposed to, but nothing of this magnitude at the age of ten. Besides which, my dad wasn't all that good of a parent. I don't have "that attitude" regarding kids, and you better believe my child won't be sneaking out of the house anywhere if I have anything to do with it. BUT, my point was.. well, I dunno what my point was actually. You're right, the kid shouldn't have been sneaking out if the parents had control. Regardless, it fucking sucks the kid died - and it's not *totally* his fault. Oh, I agree with that statement. I just hear "what can I really do as a parent?" much too often. Sorry for the "attitude" statement. It's just that it's my job to tell parents when their kids aren't doing too well (a part of my job I don't like) and I talk to a lot of apathetic parents.
  23. WAT? I'd say it's both at fault here. The cop was going 30 over the speed limit WITHOUT lights and sirens. State law states cops must use them when exceeding the speed limit. I'd imagine so people can be aware of a speeding vehicle coming in their direction. The boy snuck out and was on a dark busy street at night. Big no-no. I don't know that either one is 100% at fault. Yeah, the cop definitely shares the blame.
