  1. Thanks guys! He actually told me he had a new main already ordered. I'm sure it just went to someone else. I may have spoke a little strong, but it was just frustrating knowing this large purchase had been locked in for a week, while I turned down other options that would have given me a main by now, for him to back out on the shipping date. Oh well...I know there's plenty out there. I did contact Icarus about a demo Safire 169 several weeks ago and they never got back to me. I fill out the demo form and everything...no reply and it did not show up at the address I specified on date requested. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  2. Yes seriously. Don't be a dick. There's some of us who might think nearly $2000 is NOT inexpensive. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  3. Yeah, I spotted that, it's international. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd end up paying several hundred more than asking price said and done... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  4. Ok, yeah I suppose...But I could have had a different canopy (that was able to be at my dropzone in time) to jump all weekend instead of spending over 100 on rental gear...So, I guess it depends on how you look at it. That being said, I do see your point. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  5. Ad is still listed here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=75809;d=1 Maybe an admin should delete it...you know, since it's apparenlty no longer available. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  6. Oh BTW, seller also listed this as OBO but was not willing to come down in price. I don't see how you can list an ad as OBO, then bitch when I offer 100 less, saying that the canopy is really worth 100 more than the OBO asking price?????? www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  7. No, I'd be raising quite a bit more hell if that was the case. The plan was to get it inspected by a master rigger at my home DZ, once it checked out I'd make payment before it was relwased to me. The whole point of my pissyness was, I sold my old main and had been looking for a good transition canopy a while. Once I found this the weather clear up finally and with cash in hand wanted something soon. I found a few other deals recently that I would have totally jumped on if I hadn't have already locked in the afore mentioned main from said seller or A-hole which ever you prefer. :-) www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  8. So, after searching the classifieds for what seemed like months I finally found a main that I felt would fit my needs. I replied to the seller immediately after he posted the for sale ad. He basically said it was mine. I asked to have it shipped that day and I would pay any extra, if required, to get it to me by the weekend. Seller replies that they needed it for the weekend. Ok, so right there I got pretty pissed because who posts an ad then says, 'No you'll get it when I'm ready to send it to you'???? Anyway, I grinned and beared it, even though I spent a shitload on rental gear this weekend by not having a main (beside the point). Now, we had a verbal agreement (written if you count emails) that he'd send it out today and make sure that it got to me before the 4/10/09. So, I emailed the seller this morning asking if we were good to go and reinforcing the fact that I would pay any extra shipping costs to get it here before MY TRIP this weekend! I get a reply saying "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the canopy is no longer for sale"!!!! Seriously, WTF is that bro? I am kind of pissed right now. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  9. Well, not if you count every minute as a jump! $750 for 60 jumps is a bargain! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  10. dragon2, thank you for the recommendation! Just read through sticky. A lot of good info there! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  11. I appreciate you being honest and giving me your insight. I have no problem with waiting, it sounds like the smart thing to do. I also, definitely think getting some instruction on how to do video from someone experienced before hand would be a good decision. At the rate I am jumping and will continue jumping at, I am not very far from 200+. Thanks again, Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  12. I have been thinking about picking up one of these, not only for skydiving but motorcyling, ground launching, water sports, etc... I plan on getting into video someday, maybe not tandems so much, more for just fun. The question I have for some of you more experienced folks is, what do you think of me mounting one on a helmet with me only having 120 jumps? I would not be trying to do any serious video at this point obviously. Would you consider this not a wise decision? I believe I am a little advanced for my whole 120 jumps since all were done within less than 9 month ago. 70 of which were within 2 weeks down in Eloy recently. Anyway, I will probably buy one regardless (for other stuff), but really wanted some of your guys' opinions about this before I show up at the DZ with one. In addition, considering the price, I am sure there will be quite a few newbies like myself showing up at the DZ with these cameras this summer. It might good info for many others to read. Thanks, Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  13. Thanks Laura!!! I recieved many great PM's with feedback from various DZ's in that area. You guys rock, thank you so much! I hope to meet you all when/if I get shipped off soon! -Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  14. There's a slight chance I may get shipped out to Tenessee for work during the 6 months or so. It looks like Tenessee Skydiving is only bout 10 minutes away from where I would be working. Just curious if anyone knows whether they operate year round? Also is there normally a group of experienced jumpers there (at least on the weekends) to organize small-ways and such? Feel free to PM me... Thank You! Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  15. My mom sent me a link the news article this morning and although I didn't know Chip at all, it was very sad to read. I was pretty suprised the student was able to land the tandem rig without injury and keep his mind enough to perform CPR. Blue Skies Chip. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  16. Well that was quick...Thanks for the reply John. I'm heading to a boogie in a week. Will be testing for my B license first or second day there. I've read the SIM, but wanted to do a little multi-tasking and listen to it over and over while at work! :-) www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  17. Wow, I'm digging this thread up from quite a while ago...Just curious if there is an audio book on the SIM? Thanks! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  18. OK, so I'm finally getting around to this...But I'm going to Eloy on the 9th for the Canadian Invasion. Does anyone know whether they have them in stock at Square 2 "the general store"? Starting to get excited!!! Never been on a vacation longer than about 12 days or even skydived on vacation! Going for the full 16 days, can't wait! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  19. I'll be at the Candian Invasion Jan 9-25... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  20. Thanks for the info and reviews! I think I will pick one of those up soon... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  21. Thanks guys...I did actually search it first but must have done something wrong because I did not get any results. I'll give it another go...maybe when I can actually think about what I'm doing and not frantically surf and search (at work) www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  22. Anyone had any experience with these? I am tempted to purchase this set up for my helmet because of the price alone. This would be my first video equipment for skydiving. It seems to be a decent first timer set up. I mean, I just started skydiving not too long ago, I'm progressing well, and figure I'll be into videography eventually. I know guys that have used them on their sportbiike helmets on the street and track. Mixed reviews there. A lot of feedback saying they have been good so far, one negative that I remember hearing is that it would keep turning off after a few minutes (this was on a helmet at MX track). Possibly from the bumps and jolts. Thanks in advance to anyone that can share some wisdom with me about this sport cam. -Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  23. Jerry, That's awesome, I will give you a call soon! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  24. You'll have to send an e-mail here: sales@Square1.com Request a catalog and then you can read the article once it arrives. I don't think their hook knife article is online. Mike Thanks Mike!
