  2. If you ever want to do BASE HUCK (or skydive HUCK) in the US, PLEASE go and sign this petition. This would also eliminate the ability to D-Bag a paraglider or speedwing from a tandem set up. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/tandem/ Sign it and get a hold of Flystyle if you want to DO IT! Thanks! PS, We are looking for USHPA members (please put your USHPA #, but if not a member you may still sign it showing your support and interest in the sport). www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  3. This is a very urgent issue. I have not been able to reach him. I hope he is ok, just wondering if anyone has seen or talked to Jonathan McCann, a skydiver from Alabama recently!??? Last I hear he is in Lake Tahoe working as ski instructor. It is very important I reach him immediately. I am worried because he is not responding and I know he just got a 10m speedwing. TIA for any help. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.

  6. So where do you figure Belize Boogie will drawl from Rich? :-) www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  7. Let's hope this weather clears up!!!!! I am all ready to drive up from Portland tomorrow with my second cousin, Crystal. When I told her about the event she was immediately drawn towards making her first jump. You see, her mother passed about 10 years ago from Lupus. I just started skydiving about a year ago and Crystal's thought I was crazy ever since. When I told her about this fundraiser, she thought it was sooo cool and said she did not want to miss it. While at the LP Boogie last week I ran into a very nice fellow wearing a Leap for Lupus shirt and just had to inquire. I bought a handfull of raffle tickets and said 'see you there!" Soooooo please join me in sending many Blue Sky wishes for tomorrow! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  8. A buddy and I were going to Pacific City, OR this Sunday (5/17/09) for some fun in the sun! He had to bail. Anyone else interested in meeting there? It's suppose to be a beautiful sunny day and temp will be perfect. Only thing is, the wind looks pretty calm. Anyhow, hit me up if you're interested. -Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  9. Wow man, that's absolutely incredible! Enjoy life! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  10. Thanks yo! I think he might either ship the canopy and container seperate, or send it to me "for repair" :-) www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  11. Haha! Nice EvilEagle... Yeah, I'm selling my track gixxer750 and continuing jumping my ass off! :-) Keeping the street gixxer750 though.... Seriously, if $$$ is the decision factor, get a bike and learn to ride it. Keep your ass off the pavement long enough to where you can spend rediculous amounts of money on skydiving and skydive gear. Cause once you start you'll be hooked and the more often you go, the quicker you'll progress... Just my 0.02, good luck with the decision! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  12. I am purchasing a rig from a guy in Moscow, we're having major issues getting it through Russian customs. They value the rig with all new componants, when it's not. I guess there is some law that states you can not export over a certain value amount unless you have some sort of Russian business license. Anyhow, he's going down to customs tomorrow for a 3rd try. But we're running out of tijme because he's leaving the country and can't take it with him in about 10 days. If anyone has any advice on how to get this through customs I would greatly appreciate it. OR if you will be traveling from Moscow to the States anytime soon and wouldn't mind helping me get this rig, I would be stoked and much beer would be owed! :-) Thanks, Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  13. I appreciate all the help guys! I'm getting a bit frustrated with my situation though. I am having trouble getting them to agree to help me with moving expenses. The facility manager wants to hire local, but the guy that's in charge of hiring, wants me. Hopefully it all works out, because I have been preparing my mind for this move, started packing and just trying to line things up so I am somewhat organized. The pay is a little less, supposedly the cost of living there is less, and the opportunity would be HUGE. So there's a lot of things for me to consider. I planned on moving all my shit which would mean a U-Haul and trailer for my awd vehicle, couple nights in a hotel, gas, food, and maybe a week in a hotel till I find a place to live there. If I can't get any help for these expenses, I might tell them to bugger off. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  14. I ride motorcycle so all this deer and gator talk is making me a little nervous haha... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  15. Thanks everyone! I think I will be accepting the offer today....I think. Just need to nail down some of the specifics, like how much for moving assistance, salary, etc... They low balled me a bit and said the cost of living is less there. From the limited research I've done, it looks pretty close to Portland. So, hopefully they come up a bit. If not, I will most likely still take it...The opportunity for growth is huge! That, and I think it fits me a little better. I will be leaving a Strucutral Design position (of 8 years) and starting a Site Safety Coordinator position for a large (94 acre) job site where modular steel structures are designed and fabricated. Is it really that hot? I lived in Phoenix for 2 years, and that was fookin HOT! Most places have AC I assume. So how's the traffic? www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  16. I was offered a position with the company I work for in Charleston, South Carolina. Anyone live there? What's it like? I've been an Oregonian most my life and love the NW! The warm weather sounds nice but I might be missing the mountains and evergreens. Looks like there's lots of water sports though...might have to take up kite boarding! :-) I have to decide quickly and prolly be there within 3 weeks. If I go, I'm sure they will put me up in a hotel or something until I find a place...So, if you live there and need a roomie or knows someone that does, give me a shout... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  17. Wow, that is a killer site...Thanks! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  18. He may have just decided he didn't want to sell to you. It's a free world, and you seem like a difficult customer. This thread would support that. Hey bro, I'm about as easy as they come. I'd post the emails we had back and forth...but really don't think that's necessary. If he decided he didn't want to sell to me he should have fuckin told me that in the first place and not led me on for over a week. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  19. It is. All 120 in the last 9 months and most jumps coached or in some kind of camp/course. PM sent. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  20. Nah, I ride with some guys that are in their 60's and most of them kick my ass on their 600's! If you liked the R6, you'd LOVE the gixxer! :-P Skydiving....check! Trailbike....DOH! I recently sold my KTM 400SX and regret it every second. RC Aircraft...You know it's funny you mentioned that because one of my buddies is totally into RC stuff and he's just finishing up a plane to teach me on! Can't wait! Hell yeah bro, NICE bikes! Be forewarned, once you get on the track it gets addictive and spendy. I've spent almost 400 on JUST tires...that lasted ONE DAY! If you start racing it gets crazy spendy if you don't have sponsors. I agree, skydiving (once you are licensed and have you gear) is the best spent cash! I can't wait to start BASE, shit I've spent over 2500 and haven't even jumped yet. I'm actually taking a FBJC in June and decided to buy my own gear so I can learn on that. woo woo! I completely agree with you!!! Buuut, I have been riding the street for almost 10 years now and just can't seem to transition to ONLY track...maybe when I get old! That blows man, sorry to hear! I hope you made it relatively unscathed...Road rash is a biiiiiiitch! Been there. Full leathers for me nowadays... Whoa! ;-) I think the same thing about the ladies in leather OMG, way hot...of course they do look pretty damn good holding an umbrella too! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  21. Nice! Yeah, you know they only polish everything so they can find it when it falls off right? LOL Be safe on the street man... I hit 186 on the front straight at PIR, going into T1 was buttpucking to say the least! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  22. Hey All, Just wondering if many of the jumpers on here ride sportbikes? Race? Or do track days? I have 2 GSX-R750's, one street and one track. I did a lot of trackdays out a PIR the season before last and a little at the beginning of last season. I really wanted to get into racing...theeeeeeen I started skydiving! I would still love to do it, but I think I would definitely have to work hard to balance the 2 sports. They are both very expensive! I still ride street all the time, but the track bike has sat since last summer. Partly because I blew the motor and dumped money into skydiving and not the bike :-) I have several trackdays already paid for, so now I am left wondering, keep spending cash like crazy on skydiving/BASE and ride the street bike on the track, or slow down the spending a bit so I can fix the damn track bike? Then, do I sell it or keep it (and risk breaking it again, making it hard to sell)? Tooooo many options LOL. My bikes are both 02's so I have kind of been fantasizing about a new G1k! I'll probably end up fixing the track bike and selling them both with all the extras piled up in my storage unit and buying a new gixxer 1K to use on street and track. So racing may be out of the question for now. I think racing (seriously, without sponsors) is just as expensive as skydiving. I've probably spent 20k in the last 10 months on skydiving, gear, training camps, BASE gear etc etc... Enough about me, what do you ride and where? Is it possible for a middle class salary person to be consumed in both sports? Have a great day! www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  23. No prob funjump! It's so annoying when people list something for sale then don't have the common curtisey (sp?) to reply or mark the ad as sold... www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  24. Yeah, I was talking about the taxes...Never really done the international purchase thing before. I currently have a rig coming from Moscow, which was actually froze by Russian customs on Saturday. It will be interesting to see how that pans outs. www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
  25. If it was trashed, he could have been honest. If he sold it to someone local, he's someone who doesn't not stay true to their word. When I give my word to someone I keep it. Like I said before, I could have bought another (at a better price mind you), but I thought the deal was already made. I'm not going to argue about this. I was simply venting and possibly helping someone else avoid this problem in the future. So go ahead and delete this post, I'm done and over it. Thanks nbblood and others, I appreciate the informational replies. Everyone else talking shit, you're cool (yep, keep thinking that). Some of the replies I got are perfect examples of why I am a lurker here. Have a great day, Justin www.theflystyle.com "When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward: for there you have been and there you will always be." -L.D.
