  1. Gawain, you and the people you serve with are THE BALLS!
  2. Well, I will start with the disclaimer that I AM A COP! I am sad to hear that so many of you think so poorly of the police. We have a job to do. If somebody dies, their family deserves to know why... and if you want to screw that up because you want to protect your "rights" then go ahead....but remember, as the saying goes...you mess with the bull...you'll get the horns! Furthermore, I don't care if the investigation shuts down your DZ. DO YOU HAVE ANY INTEGRITY? ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT THE TRUTH IS TOLD, NO MATTER WHO IT HURTS!!!! I am a staunch believer in the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. However, obstructing an investigation simply because you don't trust the police is sad indeed. The police are not your enemy. Yet, as in any profession, some are better at their job than others. No need to paint us all with the same brush.
  3. Darius, you defend islam. Are you a muslim? If so, how does that jive with your signature line? Rock music, particularly of that variety, is surely a mortal sin for muslims..no?
  4. Lucky... I have read this entire thread, and you are entitled to your opinion..twisted though it may be. Tell me...Lucky...what nation do you consider to be a model the US should follow with respect to foreign policy, etc?
  5. I HATE COMCAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My DVR, which I just had replaced by comcast 2 days ago, completely failed. I just tried to watch the show. It played for about 3 minutes, then the box froze....dead in the water. Braz
  6. I assume the video will make its way onto the net. I hope a link will get posted in this thread when that happens. Braz
  7. Thanks to all for the honest responses my question. Hope to meet you all someday! Braz
  8. I just voted for the wingsuit pic, and the stats now show that the "eagle" photo is in the lead. Something like 35% for the wingsuit, and 45% for the eagle (estimated). Braz
  9. I have done 2 tandems. I know they don't count for anything, but it did expose me to some of the elements. The first was definitely a sensory overload experience. The second time, I was much more collected and aware of what was going on. The instructor allowed me to pull (on his signal of course), and fly the canopy for a bit. Thanks for all the advice. Keep it coming! Braz
  10. I'm in Marlborough MA. SkyVenture (http://www.skyventurenh.com/) in Nashua NH is what I had in mind. About 1 hour away from my house. I have not chosen a DZ yet, but I have checked the web sites for all the DZ's near me, and none mention anything about tunnel time as part of the AFF process. I figure it can't hurt...and would be money well spent if it gives me an edge going into AFF. I will definitely run it by the instructors at whatever DZ I choose before doing it though. Braz
  11. Having read the "Failing AFF" thread, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile for me to spend some time in a tunnel before doing AFF? I figure that would expose, and give me a chance to fix , any stability issues ahead of time. Thoughts? Thanks, Braz
  12. Can anyone recommend a good life insurance company in the US that is friendly to this sport? Thanks, Braz
  13. I have done 2 tandems, and I am more than certain that I want in on this! I know tandems don't count, but my point is that jumping solo is surely WAY more fun than a tandem. So I can't imagine anything changing my mind about the sport. I never intended to buy gear until AFF is done anyway. Thanks for all the advice. Many good points made, and taken. So used gear it will be. Thanks, Braz
  14. I plan on going through AFF in the spring of 09. Please don't stop reading because I am less than a newbie! This is a serious question. Apparently, it is common to buy used gear for your first rig. Why? Although I have much to learn, at this point I am considering buying new gear shortly after AFF. Why is that considered a bad idea? I was considering a PD Silhouette for a main, in the appropriate size of course. Would this be a bad choice for a newbie? Based on what I have read, I think I would be happy jumping this for at least a couple years. Is that way off base? I am willing to spend money to have gear I am confident in. I am, I would think, understandably hesitant about used gear. There are many variables, and I feel used gear leaves many of them unaccounted for. Bottom line is...I would rather spend the money and KNOW that I am jumping a trustworthy rig, rather than rely on some info posted in a classified add. Please help me sort this out... Braz
  15. I guess I am the only one that works 4pm - 12am. That kinda surprises me. I expected to find at least a few west coast people online now...oh well. Braz
  16. Are cops generally accepted into the skydive lifestyle\community? Braz
  17. Kudos for working through the arch problem and graduating AFF! Braz
  18. Is there a special load for nylon mesh? I have a bnch of that holding my guts in place. Not skydive related, but what the hey... Braz
  19. Ok, so I am way too new to be having skydive dreams...I guess...but I won't be surprised if\when I do. My job involves firearms. I've had numerous dreams where I NEED to shoot someone who is a threat to me, but I can't seem to pull the trigger without herculean effort...like the trigger pull is 100 pounds. However, I never die in these dreams, just can't seem to fire as rapidly as I need to. Off topic.....perhaps, but I anticipate the psychosis of these dreams will manifest again once I start jumping solo. I hope not, but whatever.. Braz
  20. That picture was NASTY! I have started a list of things to get in oder to start jumping solo. I guess I also need a list for things to leave at home.....the ring will be at the top of that list. Braz
