  1. ..or maybe some firearms training. No I guess, everyone in the room was quite adept at how to properly use a gun. Oddly, temperament is never taken into account; not everyone is suited to go through life with a sidearm. Life interactions as simple as a fast food drive-though forgetting your extra fries should not end up in weapons drawn or a "shootout". 2. helping stranded motorist (1 dead) http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/crime/article56234845.html argument over $25 service charge (2 dead, 2 injured) http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/sheriff-gun-shop-shootout-25-kills-wounds-36487692 What a fucking joke. 3. Non-religious people generally use "evangelical" as a reference to persons/groups with strong religious beliefs of mainstream US religions (as some may also use the term "Jesus People"). In the same manner that most people wouldn't know the difference between the terms capital markets and money markets (but get the idea that both infer financial markets), they don't care to Google the definition Pentecostal. unbiased news

I'd agree with this same list and add The Economist and FT. I've always liked the Wall Street Journal (but knowing that Murdoch now owns WSJ, I don't have any psychological comfort with them anymore. Noting the comments above re "dull" news, this definitely applies to the BBC. It will never be as pleasurable to watch as say the NBC Nightly News, but just telling you what is happening shouldn't be driven by entertainment value - it should be news. 5. Sad news on Glenn. Be careful with links to TMZ though. While thinking to myself "TMZ.com; who reads this shit?", I end up spending the next 20mins clicking and thinking I'll just look at one more item and then close the browser window. I am now up to date on Kardashians, what many 80s/90s shows actors look like now and know that Honey Boo Boo is back in the news - I'm ashamed of myself, I must now get back to the financial model I was working on before my taking a "mental break time". 6. You live in Detroit and you're disparaging other cities?? I was just on a photography forum where they were discussing organised photography trips to Detroit themed on "Urban Decay". Would Jesus call a neighbouring community "shit" or "skank" as per your vernacular? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  7. Taking a look at some of the new video releases at CES Vegas and noted the following: Sony FDR-AX33 4K Handycam http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/handycam-camcorders/fdr-ax53?cpint=SG_OUT_OF_FLOW_PRI-TOUT-OOFM-CES-2016-EN_GL-2015-12-M06-RELIVEGREAT Sony HDR-AS50 Action Cam http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/actioncam/hdr-as50?cpint=HOMEPAGE_THELATEST4SPAN_CES2016HDRAS50_5833 Nikon KeyMission 360 http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/5/10718304/nikon-keymission-360-degree-action-camera-ces-2016 Looks interesting, but still no all-in-one "holy grail" photo/video/skydive-friendly. Anyone have any insight on the above or any other new releases? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  8. I guess you surf the internet and watch a lot of TV. ... Florida, 2 years ago. 60 year old man in his own driveway. Fortunately, the cops shot about average for cops (like shit) and only hit him in the leg. 15 shots, two hits. There are tons of these kind of stories out there. How many shots per kill did the military get in ww2, Korea, Vietnam? I read it was somewhere around 50,000 bullets per kill.... Where do you get these odd comparisons? In wartime, the the bad guys are usually more than 10-30ft away from you when shooting. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  9. What the fuck does it matter that he takes some time off with his family? Do you really think it is real "down time" when you are the president. His (and every prior/future presidents) schedule is not his own. You worry about some odd shit. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  10. My iPhone 5 was also on the recal list for replacement battery. After the battery replacement, I also had probs charging or it being recognised when plugged to computer via lightning cable. Went back to Apple and they agreed that battery/charging issue had knock-on affects; so replaced it with a new phone. Give it a try with Apple again. 11. You can't just make up your own statistics. It is unfortunately quite common. Here's 5 shot in three separate states at multiple gun shows - on the same day. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/19/accidental-shooting-gun-show/1847879/ "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  12. quote: they sue other charities who either use the words ‘wounded warrior’ or used a silhouette of soldiers in their logos. That's shameful. How does Wounded Warriors believe that they own the silhouette of soldiers? It's not like they are competing for profit; the idea is to give money to the same causes. 13. Wendy summed this up a wish for your 1950's America. However, there are so many ill-thought ideas in the list above from the "crackpot" author, it doesn't really warrant much discussion. Intriguing that a person could write up 40 ideas for publication, yet only hit maybe 3 as being well reasoned. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  14. What are you talking about? Is that a psychological disorder or the "Holy Spirit" that drives your posting? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

    Adolf Trump

We're seeking to ban him from the UK: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/12/07/trump-hate-speech-ban-uk_n_8745960.html Yes please, where do I sign? "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  16. That list looks terrible. This is in regards to corrupt/abusive police departments; you're psychologically "framing" the numbers. No, it doesn't look pretty good. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  17. That was pretty good. Of course our resident "Jesus People" will be expecting something different from the thread title. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  18. Seems being a student at Liberty University is already like living under the Taliban; so Islamic Jihadist ways shouldn't really be much of a change to their daily life. ...The university has an all-encompassing code of conduct, called The Liberty Way, which governs what students can say, do, read, and watch both on and off campus and sets out a regimen of reprimands and fines for violators. The First Amendment Doesn't Apply at Liberty. No R-Rated or NC-17 Movies, Un-Godly Music, or Immodest Posters or Dancing or Kissing at Liberty University. Members of the opposite sex are forbidden from even being in a classroom or study centre alone. RushMC, please tell us again what we have to learn from them? 19. Damn, you didn't actually read the article you linked to make a point. In brief, the numbers are bad no matter what/how/who you compare to. I've been "schooled"; you too are entertaining. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  20. Liberty University? The Rev Jerry Falwell's evangelical pseudo school. You're entertaining. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  21. You've cited some guys personal blog. Regardless of how you calculate these numbers; there are huge differences US vs UK (or rest of world). Despite what you may infer from your Google efforts; when there is a police shooting in the UK, it is a rare occurrance, noteworthy news and highly publicised. What is amusing, you say the rest of the world, as if we are the worst, the bottom of the barrel, why? Per my other posts in this thread and others, this is in comparison to "all other advanced nations (ie G10, Western Europe; your pick). In that regards, yes you do rank bottom. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"

  23. I did live in the US for 18years, so feel I have at least a general understanding. There is no single solution, but I assure you that doing nothing is not the solution "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  24. So full-scale shootouts and blowing up buildings is the best way to solve problems? WTF does "Democratic Party" have to do with this or do you have a software script that automatically interjects democrat/liberals into all your posts? I understand you have a military background, but battlefield tactics don't really carry over into civilian matter resolution. While you're watching movies; here's another: Gun Crazy USA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNZO30lPGm4 "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
  25. No gun problem? Obama twisting terms and definitions? You can make your own spread sheet using any/all available sources to include shootings with either death or injury, civilian and/or police, include (or subtract; your choice) suicides/accidents, create individual columns for 1,2,3,4 or 5 deaths or injuries (again your choice) and the result will still be: America has many multiples of the incidences of gun violence for any other advanced nation. Obama is the president, not overseeing nomenclature for weights and measures. "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
