  1. I completely forgot about that. I think I'll try to go. I can't compete, but I can jump and get coaching. I guess it's time to post in the appropriate thread. Brian
  2. I get a long weekend for Veteran's Day, and I'm planning on coming up. Is there anything special going on at Raeford that weekend? If not, is there anything special that would draw jumpers *away* from Raeford that weekend? Also, what about the regulars? Anyone nifty I should try to meet while I'm there? Cheers! Brian
  3. I'm registered. Won't be there on actual Thanksgiving, but *maybe* that night, and definitely Friday-Sunday. Brian
  4. Well, I'll be in SC in November ... and that's about 4 1/2 hours away. I could probably do it. Brian
  5. Meh, your color choices are limited when you buy used, and I'm blue/purple color deficient anyways, so I can't really tell. Brian
  6. Pics! wait ... how do I post in-line pics? Well, here's links to pics: http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-snc1/v313/210/82/508104506/n508104506_719656_2861.jpg http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-snc1/v313/210/82/508104506/n508104506_719657_561.jpg http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v330/210/82/508104506/n508104506_719658_2498.jpg http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v330/210/82/508104506/n508104506_719659_4310.jpg Brian
  7. Just bought my first rig. Used, off course. Found it here in the classifieds. It's a Javelin J4 with a Sabre2 190, a Super Raven 218 reserve, and a cypres2. The rig fits pretty well, and the rigger says the canopy doesn't look nearly like it has as many jumps as it does (it's got about 600, he said it looks like it has 200). It's also the most responsive, robust canopy I've flown so far so far. I've flown a Sabre (1) 170, Safire 189, Silhouette 190, and Spectre 190, too. It's certainly fun, though. Now to buy Brian's book Brian
  8. I had fun at Orange today. Nice place, friendly people. Sunset load was great. Brian
  9. In particular, check out section 5-2 in that document, since you probably have no idea where to look and don't want to read the entire thing all in one go. Brian
  10. I know most research offers some incentives to the human rats ... offer free jump tickets and I'll strap diodes to my body when I jump Brian
  11. And to be the first person who actually answers your question ... you should be able to change dropzones after you finish AFF, before getting your license. Depending on how many jumps you have, how long between jumps, where you did your AFF, and where you plan to do your license, they may require you to do your level 7 jump over again and re-clear you to self-supervise at that particular DZ. Or, they might simply trust your log book and send you up solo. The best bet is to call the DZs you plan to use while finishing up your license requirements, and see what they say. Brian
  12. I'm going to be in Staunton, VA for Labor Day weekend. I plan to go to Skydive Orange either Saturday or Sunday (Aug 30th or 31st). Anyone here going to be jumping there that weekend? Brian
  13. Well, I'm going to be in Virginia for Labor Day weekend. I'm going to try to jump at Orange. I'll be in BC the weekend prior. Brian
  14. No, I was visiting my brother in Southern Oregon. I did jump at Skydive Oregon in Molalla on the way home, though. Brian
  15. I'm going to be visiting Vancouver, BC in a couple weeks, and want to get a good solid day (or two) of skydiving in while I'm in the area. Between the CPSA and USPA webpages, it looks like Pacific Skydivers (Pitt Meadows) and Skydive Vancouver (Abbotsford) are the two places to go. Is either one a better choice than the other? More loads per day, nicer rental equipment (don't have my own rig quite yet), better prices, view at altitude, fun jumpers to RW with, friendly atmosphere, landing area, etc? Thanks, Brian Brian
  16. Howdy Howdy. I'm new to the forums (and to skydiving). I've been jumping for almost a month now, got my A license about two weeks ago, and have 30 jumps so far. I learned to jump in Z-Hills, and now I jump with Kapowsin Air Sports in Washington. Brian
