  1. Ummm.... What? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms
  2. I was expecting pics or commentary on the reason why we got extra altitude we got on the last load at Utah.
  3. We're having a blast. Pics from the first few jumps at: http://skwrl.smugmug.com/Skydiving/Wingsuits-Over-Utah-2010/12870528_sWsi2#929064306_FaHNb Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  4. I'm getting in at 10:47 Thursday evening. Any chance you might be around? Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  5. Well, Spot, keep in mind they still have a bicycle that powers their jump plane - just like Clement Adler (or the Wright Brothers, depending on which story you prefer). (I'm kidding... You French guys are great. I loved meeting you all in Elsinore two years ago... After all, how can you knock a country that came up with the French fry?) 6. And still more pics are at http://www.skwrl.smugmug.com/ Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  7. This should be required viewing for those low experience jumpers who want to strap on a GoPro because they "don't pose a snag hazard like a real camera". Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  8. +1 to the "awesome if you made the trip, Spot." Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  9. Scotty, I'm pretty sure you can't add weight without collapsing into a black hole. (I keeeeeeeeeeeeed....) Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  10. Well, I do have a golden monkey idol that we've been burning incense at the feet of and leaving offerings to... Was I doing wrong? Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  11. Fantastic shots, Matt. I still want to be you when I grow up. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  12. Well, the good news is that, if your jump numbers are correct (you've done like two jumps in the last two years, right?), you'll never have to worry about that problem. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  13. As another lawyer who has drafted waivers for skydiving events and schools, I'm just going to say "+1" to everything Andy said. Not using a waiver is just assuming unnecessary additional business risk. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  14. I can confirm this. I have a much older Mach 1 and I had it added to my suit after jumping it for several hundred jumps. There was a remarkable increase in performance. Unless it's a safety issue for you (i.e., if you can't take advantage of the safety sleeve because it's too tight as a result of the size of your arms), I'd keep it. On the other hand, I'm not a Tonysuit rep, so one of them should chime in. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  15. Boris, In case DSE's reputation as a reputable, reliable and trustworthy third party reviewer doesn't give you enough comfort, I'll volunteer to create a secrecy/non-disclosure agreement pursuant to which DSE can't disclose to anyone else the insides of the suit (or whatever aspect of it that is the secret). Because I work as a lawyer for a Swiss company (and thus have become a little familiar with Swiss law), I can even have the governing law and venue for it be Swiss - so in the unlikely event that DSE were to breach the agreement, you could sue him from the comfort of your own home canton... -Jeff Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  16. +1 for Ed... Top notch guy. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  17. I would add one point - don't rely too much on plastic breaking when you need it to. I had a ring sight that was the cause of a break line entanglement, leading to a cutaway and loss of the helmet. (If skydivingmovies.com were still up, I could show the video - the camera helmet remained attached to the canopy following cutaway, and it plummeted all the way to the ground, filming the whole way...) The ring sight itself was attached by a nylon bolt and nylon nut, precisely because I wanted something that would snap off easily if the ring sight became the source of an entanglement. Bottom line: it didn't, even though should have "broken easy". Personally, I'd have a cutaway mechanism or methodology (even if that doesn't involve an elaborate three ring system, but instead involves a shoe that comes off easily even when you have your wingsuit on). Good luck. Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  18. I am disappointed, Lurch - coming from an innovative guy like you. Off the too of my head, I can come up with a CamelBack modification for in flight drinks... Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
  19. Here a few of mine... http://skwrl.smugmug.com/Skydiving/Jumptown-May-29-2010/12355365_7iQcc#883845404_4f9Ek http://skwrl.smugmug.com/Skydiving/Jumptown-May-29-2010/12355365_7iQcc#886185807_rP2tN http://skwrl.smugmug.com/Skydiving/Jumptown-May-29-2010/12355365_7iQcc#886185639_Hgaia http://skwrl.smugmug.com/Skydiving/Pepperell-June-2-2010/12418061_FRgg6#888671404_5Fm5P (The last one being there just to piss Sangi off.) 22. Right. What I was getting at was that a more traditional model would be to have the manufacturer sign a CDA and then the inventor would disclose the trade secret/design and any supporting data/results without any payment. If, after they had a chance to look at it, the manufacturer was interested, the manufacturer would then license the technology (at which point the inventor would be paid). That approach protects both parties: the CDA would prevent the manufacturer from "stealing" the idea; the manufacturer would then have the chance to investigate the design/data before plunking down any cash. 23. To Jarno's point, this is where a pretty simple confidentiality agreement (a.k.a., a CDA - or since he's in Europe, a secrecy agreement) would have solved this concern... It would be a trade secret, and he'd have rights to it and to prevent others from using it if they signed such an agreement. Typically, when manufacturers of technology are willing to accept proposals from folks outside of their own shop, they sign a CDA prior to having the technology disclosed to them. Generally, there's no payment involved for signing the CDA. (Incidentally, many manufacturers of technology don't want to receive such proposals - even under a CDA - because they don't want to get into battles if they were developing equivalent technology in house...) On the other hand, maybe this guy's L/D is like Heisenberg's uncertainty principle - it can only happen when it can't be observed or measured... 24. I think those who are wiser and more experienced about these things can (and will) chime in, but I think a portion of it is the difficulty in spotting the other aircraft and coordinating exits. Visual becomes tricky as the person "in the door" most likely can't see the other aircraft. Of course, this could be solved by air to air radio, but... 25. +1, if you strike the word "some" and replace it with "almost all". Skwrl Productions - Wingsuit Photography Northeast Bird School - Chief Logistics Guy and Video Dork
