  1. Not to get preachy, but ..... Being here. I have lost brothers in arms in awful incidents; I myself have been in a bad one and there are those who wonder aloud how I am alive. I do sometimes. I firmly believe that there is a higher power that influences the world around us and events in our lives. PG. FunBobby
  2. Being recognized as a "go to" guy.... consistently being called on for the tough assignments and taskers because the bosses and your comrades know that if has to get done well, you'll find a way to do it. FunBobby
  3. Only if the wearer is silly enough to beg people to be careful with the rig and too slow to get it off as soon as she's safely on the ground..... Congratulations, btw FunBobby
  4. A few years back, I was in an aircraft mishap. The aircraft is at the bottom of the ocean, but before it hit the water in a very spectacular fashion, I pulled the aircraft cutaway handle, sending me and my crew rocketing out of the doomed plane. I was badly hurt in the incident. I have since recovered nicely and have returned to flying and skydiving, but this summer, years after this happened, the docs discovered a condition that resulted from the ejection but apparently has taken years to develop. That condition is threatening to end my skydiving and flying careers. There are all sorts of options, but I'm hoping to make it to 1000 jumps and stay safe.... Probably a little more than anyone cared to hear in this particular thread, but it's kinda been on my mind. FunBobby
  5. Pass me a beer! FunBobby
  6. All my years skydiving, during winter weekends, I always gave thanks that I lived in Florida (now California!) FunBobby
  7. I seem to remember reading in Parachutist last year that there were instances where students, after opening, began to slip out of their harnesses - quick thinking and quick reactions on the part of the jumpmasters saved the students. I seem to remember the the manufacturer of the harness issuing a advisory bulletin... Sound familiar, anyone? FunBobby
  8. Holy smokes. No kidding - LMFAO !!! FunBobby
  9. Very nice.... Vrolijk kerstfeest! That's how they say Merry Christmas in Amsterdam, which is where I spent part of Christmas Day last year. FunBobby
  10. [scratching head] Wut means that? [\scratching head] I put an apostrophe on a plural noun.. possessive-like. Ex: The bike belonging to the skydiver would be "The skydivers bike" but The Bike belonging to the skydivers would be "The skydivers' bike" Is that it? Hmmm. People get that one wrong all the time too. I think what was meant was that many folks often use apostrophes to pluralize nouns (e.g. not one, but two radio's - WRONG!). BSR's - right. 3's - okay. Word's - WRONGO! FunBobby
  11. Babysitter? Did you pay Shane well? That's a big job, you know. FunBobby
  12. God forbid this should ever happen, but what if 2 jumpers open too close together and get tangled? If one of the jumpers cuts away with altitude to spare, would he want to make sure he's clear before deploying the reserve? ? FunBobby
  13. Nice, very nice. But since you said it, what do folks think of this one? Is it "I could care less" or "I couldn't care less"? I've heard both, but the latter sounds right to me, meaning the person speaking cares so little, he / she could not possibly care any less. ????? FunBobby
  14. Congrats to you. Good luck in flight training.... Watch out flying low to the deck. FunBobby
  15. Very nice. Killian's Red is good..... FunBobby

  19. Oooooowwwww. Do you mean that the dropzone got what they paid for? FunBobby
  20. Kid at my last DZ is barely 19 with well over 500 jumps. FunBobby
  21. Great rig - hope the required wait makes jumping it even sweeter. FunBobby
  22. Nice, very nice. All sorts of hillarious videos on that page. "Best form of birth control" - that one's awesome. FunBobby
  23. I've seen every iteration of DZ relationships. I've seen folks who met at the DZ fall deeply in love, get married, have kids, and share a wonderful life. Some folks who have had that fortune are well known - Craig and Tanya (Garcia) O'Brien, for instance. On the other hand, I've also seen great jumpers date for a long time and suffer through a bitter breakup that affects other people around them. And then I've seen everything in between. Skydiving is a unique, special thing, and to many, the DZ is a unique and special place. Sharing that could be a boon or a curse in a relationship. I'd suggest that anyone thinking about pursuing someone at the DZ just consider what they're getting into. FunBobby
  24. Funny - whenever a guy says something like that, he usually loses that bootie - at least for a while. FunBobby
