So I've decided to go ahead and just do the state sponsorship in Western Australia. After looking into the work opportunities there ans speaking with a few mates who live out there it seems like a really good option. There are obscenely well paying jobs and the quality of life seems to be pretty damn good. Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

I know life is pretty rough when my worst case scenario is a 2 year obligation to live in WA.

I have so many options right now I dont know what to do with myself. I am going to go tour around Malaysia and thailand for the rest of the year and I figure if I am going to take an english course and retake the IELTS test I might as well do it while I am in Malaysia as its alot cheaper to do it there than it is in Oz. It's all very confusing, somewhat overwhelming, but if there is one thing I am good at it is getting to where I want to go, no matter how lost I get along the way. I always end up where I want to be... eventually. All I know for sure right now is that I am going to malaysia on sept 24th and that I need to sort out this Australia Immigration stuff by june 2012 before they tighten up immigration regulations again... Ya, I agree my writing skills could use some improvement. The test requires you to write 2 essays in 1 hour. One 150 word essay that is a letter. one 250 word essay that is arguing for, or against a topic. I haven't gotten the full score report yet. It should have some more detailed infrmation on the areas I need to work on. I am really tempted to just take the state sponsorship route. It is a solid pathway to permanent residency and eventually Australian citizenship. There are some excellent work opportunities available for me in Western Australia. I really wish I had made it over to that side of the country to check it out as I think it would make this decision easier. I am reluctant to agree to live somewhere for 2 years when I haven't been there... But hey, The seem to put up with Squeak living there so I guess I should be alright. I really want that skilled independent visa. It is an unrestricted 5 year pathway to citizenship. So I think it will really be worth my time to study english and retake the test. The idea of going to Malaysia and studying english in Kuala Lumpur has got to be the funniest plan I have EVER had in life. I think I am going to do it just so I can tell the story of how I got Australian citizenship. "I had to go to Malaysia and take an english language course in order to qualify for australian residency" It would also be a very interesting cultural experience, my plan was just to go there and drink cheap beer and smash cheap hookers but I think attending a local college would probably be a more fulfilling cultural experience (and I can still drink cheap beer and smash cheap hookers ) I'm not going to get into the rest of my travel and immigration plans, I have a million different ideas of how to spend the next few years and 3 back up plans for each of those. It's going to be an interesting journey, or as I called it this morning while chatting with my Dad, "my life is a clusterfuckingcatastrophy with some very pleasant side effects" Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

Got my test results today. Scored 8 in listening, 9 in reading, 9 in speaking and 7 in writing. all the score are out of a possible 9. The problem is that to apply for an unrestricted skilled worker visa I had to score a minimum of 8 in each category to get the points need for that visa. My options now are to seek state sponsorship to gain the extra points needed for a provisional visa. State sponsorship requires me to live and work within a certain state for 2 years, after that time I can apply for the permanent resident visa that I am trying to get now. Currently the only state offering sponsorship for my trade is Western Australia. Im not sure how I feel about being bound to living in one place for 2 years. The actual terms of the provisional visa are that it's a 3 years visa. I have to maintain residency for 2 years and employment for 1 year. Once I meet those requirements I am able to apply for permanent residency which I believe will cost an additional $3000. I have to look into it some more to be sure. My other option is to retake the english test, Maybe take an ESL course to prepair for the test. I know it sounds a little rediculous, being a native speaker, but there are courses designed for non native speakers to help them pass this test. Retaking the test will cost $180 and I will have to look into the cost of courses..... The really fucked up part is that I will have to do this in Malaysia... Yeah... Im going to Malaysia for 3 months at the end of september as my current visa in australia will expire. So I think to cover all my bases I will apply for state sponsorship, (I have 3 months to apply for a provisional visa once I get sponsorship.) Then go to Malaysia and learn english... and hope to get a better mark next time... Fuck, my life is ridiculous.... but it sure ain't boring. Well off to buy a first hand AAD and a secon hand flight suit with booties Glad you agree, I thought it was a pretty good way of looking at it. Hell, you might as well put it on your credit card, that way if you get killed in a canopy collision or doing a low turn you still win... kind of Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

Best argument for spending the money on an AAD was when someone said "I would be really pissed if I went in and still had $1400 in the bank" Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)

Haha I just saw the add in the australian skydiver magazine yesterday. Just so you all know, that was taken at Skysisters at Ramblers dropzone here in Australia by Norm Kent. I was lucky enough to help out with that photo. Who do you think was helping hold the cypres in place? ME I have an outside picture of the photoshoot somewhere. Dates for the base event at KL are sept 28 - oct2. I am still unsure of my travel plans but i might be interested in some cheap tunnel fun. Is it possible to run 4 way in the tunnel there? Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
-
The KL tower base jump event is the last week of september so I ahve a feeling there will be a bunch of people in the area that might be interested. Even if they aren't interested in the tunnel at least you will have a bunch of crazy friends to party with. Right now my plans are to be in Malaysia from sept 24th but that may change depending on work. What is the cost of tunnel going to be? Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
