  1. All of my skydiving friends sleep. I've yet to have one of them die falling out of bed, and most of them sleep in a bed (or other more dangerous places, like the concrete pad behind the bar). I stopped counting how many died skydiving. Don't kid yourself. Remster
  2. If he was trying to fight a streamer or a mal for too long (which, without any other details than the basics we got sounds about right), no number of AAD or RSLs or Skyhooks may have saved him. Yes, they're great backup devices, but they don't replace doing your EPs on time. Remster
  3. You're right, 10k is not representative. But I would say there are way more than 25 jumper with 10k jumps in the US. But, again, if you (the OP) are trying to convince yourself that skydiving is safe using statistics, you 're not getting it. Adding skydiving as a regular activity significantly increases the risks your take. Deluding yourself that it's safe only makes it more dangerous for you, and me, so please get it. Mmm I don't why do you assume I'm trying to convince myself skydiving is safe. If you read my post you'll see that in fact I stated just the opposite: skydiving needs to be perceived as a dangerous activity in order to try and make it safer. Because: "We always hear that skydiving can be a very safe sport, and I truly believe that, but statistics can disagree." Remster

  5. No, it's not. You can do everything right and still die. If you can't handle that, take up bowling. Remster
  6. On the plus side, you're outnumbered by men in our sport by a margin of at least 3 to 1. Lot's of skydiver guys to choose from. On the downside . . .? They're all skydivers. The odds are good, but... :-D Remster
  7. Fastex type buckles do not work consistently when under load. Their very nature makes them prone to not release when loaded. Remster
  8. My S.O. and I have an understanding - he packs my rig, he gets a 20 min massage when we get home. :) Happy ending? With finger? Remster
  9. They have this wonderful invention called packers now, John... Remster
  10. I'll let you guys know how it is, I'm on the Nov 2 trans Atlantic crossing. Kel, you suck. Carry on. Remster
  11. You may.... It's a bit of a crap shoot depending on decalred value, and who is used for the shipment (and UPS and Fedex will often tag on their on "customs broker" fees... Canada Post/USPS seems less of an issue). Remster
  12. There's been a few posts here and on FB in the last couple weeks since it 1st aired... In Canadia..... :p Remster
  13. Rigged!!!! RIGGED!!!!! Glad you had a successful raffle. Remster
  14. I guess some amendments are more sacred than others. I'm sure there's at least 4 or 5 that should trimmed out... Remster
  15. At least I like Trunk's name for his mount... http://www.gethypoxic.com/browse/gopro-stuff.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=151&category_id=17 Remster
  16. 1- When a new jumper is told to wait before jumping a camera, they almost always say it will be to improve their flying. A POV will give you ZERO data for that. 2- No. I dont want my helmet and my camera to the one unit. Cameras change, and so do helmets. 3- It may decrease the number of snags, but it will increase the number of distraction issues. Remster
  17. Then do that. Without a camera. This is the textbook "excuse" people give themselves to use a POV camera... And there is absolutely no value in that. None. Remster
  18. Collusion between competitor is exactly what anti-trust laws are about. Remster
  19. Well, maybe not far East, but Czeck at least! Congrats to all, that one took a while to get done! https://www.facebook.com/127256360643349/photos/pcb.725132584189054/725132424189070/?type=1&theater Remster

  21. Also, Jav's like to cinched up in a specific manner. Put it on, all straps loose. Bend at the waist, and slightly lift the container up your ass. Tighten the chest strap. Probably much tighter than you would have standing straight Then straighten up, and do your leg straps. Remster
  22. Yeah... I spent a while just the other week on it... :-) Remster
