  1. Only for you, Goober. Everyone else gets to do it near the beacon. Uh... If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  2. Nice legs. (No one believes the "not just by myself" part. ) If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  3. That was remarkable. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  4. Check out the bookstore...a couple weeks ago there was a novel that looked interesting....about a plane being blown up by terrorists!!! I'm not kidding. no bookstore in F terminal. just a snack shop w/ magazines... sad. You always seem to find a way to entertain yourself. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  6. I posted a link to this in the Base Zone, Walt. You really need to tell more of these tales. For anyone who's interested, the articles Walt wrote can be found at http://web.archive.org/web/20010410224843/http://www.afn.org/skydive/base/ rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Funny Story

I know some of you guys don't read the Bonfire, but Walt is on a roll, and this is hilarious: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1965638#1965638 If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  8. That's not true. There was the PERCEPTION of a threat...and that WAS dealt with properly. But no real threat existed and therefore a man died for no good reason. There is no blame on the cop (again). But there WAS NO threat. Defining terms. threat 1. An expression of an intention to inflict pain, injury, evil, or punishment. 2. An indication of impending danger or harm. 3.One that is regarded as a possible danger; a menace. I think we've got the beginning of our own comedy act, ReBirth. Edited to add: I do understand that you're not blaming the cop. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  9. Seconded. In the end, though, I started brewing it in a tea pot half and half with black tea. It's wonderful with stevia extract (the dark, syrupy stuff, not the clear). rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  10. Whatever happened to that guy... I just love a guy with a sense of humor. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  11. The only thing that makes life worth living is the willingness to risk everything. Unless you risk everything, you don't have a life. Roger Payne If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  12. What will you find behind the door that is one door away from Heaven? If your heart is closed, then you will find behind that door nothing to light your way. But if your heart is open, you will find behind that door people who, like you, are searching, and you will find the right door together with them. None of us can ever save himself; we are the instruments of one another's salvation, and only by the hope that we give to others do we lift ourselves out of the darkness into light. 13. That's about the size of it.
  14. It's gay! Look who's talkin'. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  15. Prince of Wales used to be my favorite. Then for awhile I drank Lapsang Souchong. Now I drink Darjeeling. "Orange pekoe" (the words on most "cheap" tea boxes) is just a grade of black tea, and that means you can buy Tetley or Lipton or the store brand, and you're going to get the same health benefits from 100 bags @$2.49 or less as you get from one of the "name" brands that come 25 bags @$3.19 (for Twinings where I live; Tazo is even more expensive). Unless you're going to get really into it, it's all about the same. When you decide you want to start using a teapot and learning how to brew loose tea and all about the different varieties of tea, you won't be interested in what you can get at the supermarket. rec.food.drink.tea FAQ Edited to add: if you're trying to get the currently touted benefits of tea, you need to steep it for more than five minutes, and you need to agitate the leaves or the tea bag the entire time. 16. Boy, that's just not right. Neither is your friggin' avatar. Edited to add: I am not whining. I am screaming in pain at the top of my lungs. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  18. LOL...they are all dz.commers and very cool guys. One of them is a Mod, so be nice! As I said, especially the guy on the left. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  20. Here's a pic you can play "where's Sudsy" with. Except for the one in the middle, that's a pretty weird looking bunch. Especially the guy on the left. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  21. OMFG! I didn't think you had the balls to do it. My hat's off to ya, Jeff and Bobbi, for seeing it through. rl (These are more emoticons than I've ever used in a single post.) If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  22. No. I'm at you Sudsy. I had to shut off my avatars because I can't bear to look at you anymore. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  23. Well, I suppose it's interesting reading, if you like an all-out flamefest after the fact. Buzz had a fatality or two that would have been prevented by the use of an AAD, and it hit him very, very hard. So he implemented the "no-CYPRES, no-jump-here" rule, and he got himself flamed hairless by the recdot skydiving community. Other than some really ugly personal attacks--including some against his staff, who became a kind of scapegoat and substitute, because Buzz posted only rarely--there really isn't much to read. Did the CYPRES rule change after the dz was taken over by Andy? And what is the clause of the contract that allowed this to happen? rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  24. Just to be clear about my position. If my daughter were a sociopath--the kind of person who ends up with a capital charge against her--then I would see it as only right and just that she be subject to the death penalty. There is no rehabilitation for a sociopath. None. They are a blight on society and they need to be pruned out. They only look human. So, if she were found guilty and sentenced to death for a capital crime, I would be at her side every step of the way, but that would be for me, not for her--because sociopaths are incapable of love, empathy, any kind of true caring for another person, no matter how well they can mimic all these things--and when it was done, I would grieve for my loss and for what might have been but was not. I would still, however, support the death penalty. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  25. You have worn me out. Your position: No death penalty. My position: The death penalty has a place, if we can find a way to avoid putting innocents to death. All the rest of it is a lot of horseshit, obfuscation, and rigamarole. What passes for argument in this forum is appalling. Cheers to Lindsey for at least knowing how to construct and understand an argument--even and especially when she doesn't necessarily agree with the point of view being expressed. I lost patience. That's what I'm saying. This isn't discussion, it's not about examining something, it's just about who can manufacture the most bullshit and who can overpower the other guy. Some of my own tactics in this thread were pretty shitty, and I deserve to be walloped for them, but I don't argue like that all of the time, because it's demeaning. If "winning the argument" is out-sliming the competition, you're welcome to it. rl P.S. No, there wasn't an actual analogy in it. You merely invited me to analogize using my daughter as the subject of a death penalty argument. I refer you to my diatribe above.
