  1. This is not conspirousy stuff! This is what the bill says! Some of this stuff is already happening. You can ignore it and be shocked later when you find out its for real or take action. Here is one example of how this stuff is already happening! Some terminally ill patients in Oregon who turned to their state for health care were denied treatment and offered doctor-assisted suicide instead, a proposal some experts have called a "chilling" corruption of medical ethics. Since the spread of his prostate cancer, 53-year-old Randy Stroup of Dexter, Ore., has been in a fight for his life. Uninsured and unable to pay for expensive chemotherapy, he applied to Oregon's state-run health plan for help. Lane Individual Practice Association (LIPA), which administers the Oregon Health Plan in Lane County, responded to Stroup's request with a letter saying the state would not cover Stroup's pricey treatment, but would pay for the cost of physician-assisted suicide. Here are some other things that have happened in the past the people think this government would never do. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the 1927 Buck v. Bell case that the state of Virginia could sterilize those it thought unfit. The most significant era of eugenic sterilization was between 1907 and 1963, when over 64,000 individuals were forcibly sterilized under eugenic legislation in the United States. When Nazi administrators went on trial for war crimes in Nuremberg after World War II, they justified the mass sterilizations (over 450,000 in less than a decade) by citing the United States as their inspiration.[59] American eugenicists inspired and supported Hitler's racial purification laws, and failed to understand the connection between those policies and the eventual genocide of the Holocaust.
  2. lets not get crazy here, that kind of stuff isn't going to happen. as far as doctors being forced to do abortions, i doubt that will happen either. my wife, for one, will give up her medical license before being forced to perform an electie abortion. countless other doctors will do the same thing. add that to the number of older experienced docs that will just retire if obama gets his way, and you will have a healthcare system in this country even more broken than what we have today. Killing jews because of thier race....that could never happen. Who would actually be willing do to that and for what purpose? Doctors experimenting on jews. Thier doctors, they heal not kill. They wouldn't do that. There is no way a government would or could make such things happen. These laws are just for the good of society and mankind and they could never result in that kind of thing....... It seems we all learn about history in school but so few actually learn from it. Just another step in the direction of communism and another form of something like nazi germany. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the 1927 Buck v. Bell case that the state of Virginia could sterilize those it thought unfit. 3. Sorry to hear about the fine, but be happy it didn't cost someone's life.. I think it ought to be illegal everywhere - it's very dangerous. Shouldn't the punishment be for killing someone? You could use the same thought process to outlaw anything...such as skydiving. You could die because its dangerous so it should be illegal, or you could damage someones property when you die or you could have a premature deployment and it destroy the tail of the aircraft and it will crash killing everyone on board and some people in a building the airplane crashed into so it should be illegal. Its only supposed to be against the law if you infringe on someone elses rights, not if it possibly could at some point.
  4. No I have it correctly. I work in the oil and gas industry. the reason prices dropped, particularly in natural gas, is because when prices were high they wanted to sell a whole bunch of gas so they dilled and pumped as hard and fast as they could! When the economy tanked the demand dropped but they continued to pump the same amount out of the ground as they did before which ment the supply went up dramatically. When factories shut down that left huge supplies of natural gas and oils that were going to be used left in tanks generating a huge supply with low demand thus lower prices. As a result they have responded by not dilling and pump as much, also because they can't afford it at these low prices, which will reduce the supply moving prices up. Seriously, its simple economics people. Also, lets remember this cash for clunkers. Who is the cash coming from? The government? No. US! the tax payers. The money is just making a circle! The government takes it from us and gives it back in the form of "stimulus plans". Why not just not take the money in the first place? Because that means less power for the government! Also, for all you who think that the oil and gas industry is horrible think about the fact that they employ more people than any other industry and right now numerous oil and gas companies have had to file for bankruptcy or shut down due to the current prices. This in turn raises unemployment.
  5. Not true. Our family would be a great example. If we were to take advantage of the program this week we could take one 1985 clunker out of action, and also combine it with a trade in of a 34 mpg/250k mile car (running nicely) and a 26 mpg/150k small pickup. The dealer would end up selling a new car, scrapping one and gaining two fuel efficient automobiles that could be sold or auctioned. edited to add: putting more fuel efficient cars on the road will reduce fuel demand, driving down prices. High fuel prices hit poorer families disproportionately. Less demand for fuel drives prices up. Ever heard of supply and demand. If the demand is low for a product where the supply hasn't changed then the prices go up.
  6. Funny how capitalism works, isn't it? Capitalism means no government involvement not people getting money from the government. Thats the whole problem!
  7. Even in England (the source of all socialistic medical evil, I believe ) there are a lot of private physicians. According to wikipedia, the number of private doctors on Harley Street has doubled just since the start of the National Health Service. Why would the US be less likely to have a similar effect, where people who can pay choose other doctors? There are problems with an entirely government-administered healthcare system. But arguing about strawmen doesn't really further the understanding. Wendy P. this would probably happen but what it actually does is create a larger gap in care between the rich and others instead of making the gap smaller like they are claiming it will do. Obama himself said that if his mother needed a hip replacement she wouldn't get it but he would pay for it......because he is rich!
  8. Also, these engines will eventually be melted down to make new ones which of course will add a bunch of carbon to the atmosphere during the melting down process.
  9. If I get my sugar glider out after I get a shower he thinks I am a giant apple and tries to eat me. (my shampoo smells like apples). He also believes the couch is his home and tries to crawl inside it so we have to flip it over and get him out of the bottom.
  10. Because the government has no right to get involved! The government is supposed to have no place in business (even though it has put itself there in tons of other ways such as SOX). Particularly when you consider the current economy and debt of the government. All this program does is increase the debt of the government. Any the idea that they will have any impact on "global warming" is rediculous. Facts like that the earth has been cooling for the past 10 years or that the ice caps have grown at the fastest rate ever recorded or that in the past man kind has flourished during warming periods or that warming has happened numerous times in the past without any human influence ect. ect. are all ignored. Besides, these people are paying for the gas so whats the problem. We are supposed to be free to drive a vehicle that guzzles gas if we want to....but the government took that away a long time ago and when they did they actually made vehicles less efficient with thier emissions regulations. Ever taken the emissions regulations off of your car. You get far better performance and better gas mileage. There are other impacts to such a program that knowone has considered such as the effect on the poor. Most of the vehicles that qualified and were turned in were not what we would consider old clunkers but qualified due to their gas milage. These vehicles engines get destroyed thus reducing the amount of used cars available, thus increasing the price of the ones that are available making it more difficult for the poor to buy newer used cars because the couldn't have afforded a new one even with the rebate.
  11. Gal 1:6I am astonished that you are(L) so quickly deserting(M) him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to(N) a different gospel— 7(O) not that there is another one, but(P) there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or(Q) an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you,(R) let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received,(S) let him be accursed. So if you ever hear anything different than what the apostles spoke then its wrong. So if you really did hear a voice there is no reason to believe it was God because you supposedly learned new things that could not be learned from what the apostles said and therefore the "voice" should have been accursed by you. Sorry, but everything you have said has no reference to the bible. Can you even produce where the bible teaches that salvation is obtained by "asking jesus to come into your life." You cannot simple "call upon the name of the lord" as the bible says Matt 7:21(A) "Not everyone who(B) says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will(C) enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who(D) does the will of my Father who is in heaven. and James 2:19(A) You believe that God is one; you do well. Even(B) the demons believe—and shudder! do a simple study and look at what happened anytime anyone in the bible asked what they must do to be saved. You will find something different than "ask jesus to come into your life."
  12. I am pretty sure Joe Kittinger would have the record at 102,800 ft and he fell at a max of 714mph. His parachute opened at 14,000 ft.
  13. then don't run from them and they won't shoot. And it is against the law to run from the police. how would going about your daily business near a crime be like running from the police?
  14. As stated in the constitution the source is GOD! Also, if we can get our rights from elsewhere then the constitution is a useless document. The constitution was to stand alone. Can we get our rights from another countries constitution. NO! Either follow the constitution or don't but don't try to pretend you do when you clearly don't.
  15. I really want to know where the federal government gets the power to tell private business what it can pay its employees. It wasn't stated in the constitution that the federal government has that power so it either falls to the states or the people. And if its not in the state constitution then it fall to the people and therefore the business. And don't quote some stupid court ruling. They don't change the constitution and what it means.
  16. But guilty of what? I've run from the police after a BASE jump. Does that make me worthy of being shot? You ran from the police, therefore, you broke the law and you put inoccent people at risk in braking the law. If you get shot you shouldn't have run from the police! I am sure you ran because you knew that if you didn't crash then the consequenses weren't big enough. If they said stop or we'll shoot and you knew they would.....would you keep going? If you knew everytime someone tried to run from the police they got shot at would you run too?
  17. 300-400 poeple die annually from chases. If you stop the chase from ever happening then these people don't die. How many people die from stray police bullets?
  18. Fleeing "suspected" felons Blues, Cliff They are FLEEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At that point whehter or not they did something else wrong they broke the law by FLEEING and that are not just suspected of FLEEING. Why should innocent people DIE because somebody broke the law by running from the police? They are FLEEING and therefore broke the law. Whats the problem?
  19. If you have been paying attention to whats going on you would know that one of the huge things about this bill is that it changes how and for what they are payed for.
  20. are we really that far from a 1940's germany? Patients turning to Oregon's state-run health program for assistance were denied treatment and urged to consider suicide instead. 53-year-old Randy Stroup of Dexter, Ore., looking for assistance to pay for his prostate cancer treatment, turned to the state-run Oregon Health Plan. Plan administrators responded with a letter informing Stroup the goverment would not cover his treatment, but it would pay for physician-assisted suicide. "It dropped my chin to the floor," Stroup told FOX News. "[How could they] not pay for medication that would help my life, and yet offer to pay to end my life?" The letter, which follows guidelines set by Oregon's state legislature, has been sent to other cancer patients, urging them to consider suicide rather than compete with other patients for the limited pool of taxpayer money. The Obama health care takeover currently being written in the House includes a section requiring the sick and elderly to attend meetings on "end of life planning."
  21. It would be nice if it were fact, but in the real world, no such luck. In the real world that is what I have done several time! If you are a hard working valuable working you can put serious pressure on your employer. If you aren't hard working and valualbe then you can't. Just doing enough to get by won't help you make more money.
  22. It is simply an example of the current laws not being enforced. According to the law he should have lost his license before he hit me but he didn't even loose it after hitting me.
  23. what about 1930's germany or 1920's germany? It started somewhere.
  24. I should have known better than to expect a bunch of skydivers to be serious.
  25. Possibly, but I have doubts that such a law simply forcing all private-sector doctors and medical facilities to accept government insurance would be Constitutional. (For example, private-sector doctors currently are not required to accept Medicaid .) And I don't think the federal government could threaten to yank doctors' licenses, either, since licensing is a state function, not a federal one. But sometimes the federal government, unable to control certain state functions directly, exerts its will over states via the back door, such as by threatening to cut off federal funds to states unless the states comply with federal policy - (example, cutting off a state's federal highway money if it opts out of a 55 mph speed limit). So, conceivably, the Congress could give the states an ultimatum: either make acceptance of govt insurance a condition of holding a medical license in that state, or be penalized with the loss of some kind of federal funding. Federal court, here we come! WASHINGTON, D.C. - Members of the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder seeking justification and clarification for a letter the Department of Justice (DOJ) sent to Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson threatening Oklahoma with a loss of federal funding if the state passed a constitutional amendment making English the official language of the state. The original DOJ letter, characterized by delegation members as dubiously timed at the peak of legislative debate, advises the state that "implementation of this [English-only] amendment may conflict with Oklahoma's obligations to protect the civil rights of limited English proficient (LEP) persons." Dated April 14, 2009 from Acting Assistant Attorney General Loretta King, the DOJ letter states, "As you know, recipients of federal financial assistance must comply with various civil rights statutes, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964…which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin." The letter continues, "State agencies and other entities in Oklahoma that receive federal financial assistance thus would be precluded by federal law from abiding by an English-only requirement where it conflicts with their obligations under Title VI." The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation's letter to Holder points out that several other states have passed similar legislation and asks if they too have been "accused by the Department of Justice to be in violation with Title VI, or formally threatened with funding termination." The delegation letter asks for an explanation for what prompted the DOJ to write the state of Oklahoma on this issue and seeks explanation for what funds would be eliminated should Oklahomans pass the English only amendment. Besides, its not like the federal government has any problem not following the constitution. They haven't for over 100 years!
