I had one break on my chest strap a year or so ago. I did the same as you and it left a small stain but did not seem to affect the integrity of the webbing at all. Hope that helps in some way. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

First, i HATE people who drive in the left lane for anything other than passing. However, if i am in the left lane passing someone, and those ASSHATS come up behind me and flash their lights, guess what, i will slow down and stay next to the car to my right. Now, to be fair, if i for some reason have passed someone and then just space out or something and didn't move back to the right, well then flash all you want, i will move back over and give an apologetic wave. It is different from a BASE jump because they exited from an aircraft. USPA states that minimum container opening altitude is 2000 feet. Base jumpers are not goverened by the USPA (or anyone for that matter) Base gear is completely different and is specifically made and packed to open quicker than a typical sport parachute system. Not a dumb question, you don't know unless you ask.
