  1. Makes none to me. I'm going to "god" you today? Hey, how was "godding?" I'm so tired I can't "god" right now? I'm confused. Please elaborate. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  2. Yes. (Just kidding - kind of). Leapinglizardto, In all seriousness, go jump. You don't even know if you like it yet. You may hate it. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  3. So do you get the sensation of "falling" (stomach in your throat) when you jump from a chopper/balloon? "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  4. I assume you're talking about horizontal speeds of 0 & 80. The difference is the feeling. At 80 you have a cushion of air pushing on you immediately, at 0 you don't. You would reach terminal velocity in roughly the same time in either case. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  5. What altitude do you typically jump from from a helicopter or balloon? "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  6. Well said. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  7. I would recommend the AFF. That's how I did my first jump a couple months ago and I am so happy I did. There is nothing like stepping off that airplane for the first time by your own free will. If I had already done a tandem I would have known what I was jumping into. To each his own though. You need to figure out what's right for you. 8. Well that's only because the study wasn't run by Christians. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  9. Bingo. I've noticed a few Brits use the currently weak state of the US Dollar to tell us how good we have it. The only people it's crappy for is us if we go jump in another country. If the dollar ever rebounds we can complain about how "expensive" our jumps are in terms of their currency. 10. You put "sharing" in quotes: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  11. Of course, you would probably say I overuse it. But at least I don't use "sweet" as much anymore. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  12. Oh this thread is getting good. I love it! "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  13. Alas, my memories remain with Halo II . Although, I did always like the original better. In reality, if I had time, I'd get an XBOX 360. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  14. I believe good parenting and attending church have no correlation. In other words, there are good parents that take their kids to church, and good parents that don't. Likewise, there are bad parents that take their kids to church, and bad parents that don't. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  15. Do what I did 5 years ago and buy Mac OS X. Problem solved. Took a little getting used to for the first couple weeks, but I loathe having to use Windows now because of how complicated everything is. I'll never go back, unless Microsoft ever releases a better OS than Macintosh. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  16. Just quoting for effect, in case someone scrolls past Royd's original: Yes, it's just awful. We see the results of laissez faire parenting everyday. Don't make the little ones do anything that disturbs their precious little sensitivities. We have a couple of generations of children who are crippled mentally and physically because of this attitude. Ten year old children who weigh 200lb. and can barely walk. 18 yr. olds who can't read, write or figure at a grade school level. I saw a teenager yesterday walking down the street yesterday, who was virtually one armed, because his other arm was used to keep his pants from falling around his ankles. Go ahead and ask the children to make all of their own decisions, and see what you get. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  17. Really? What will he do if the radio doesnt work? Dont get out of the plane relying on the instructor to pull for you, or a radio to land you.... Just trying to give him some confidence.
  18. Are you married? I definitely take your stance. It's terrible to force someone to do something like that. Let them make up their own minds. I went to private, religious (Christian, Presbyterian, Episcopal, & Catholic) schools from pre-school through 9th grade. It was a good balance because it was never pushed by my parents, but I got it at school. I never minded going to chapel, and as a matter of fact, they made it a lot of fun for us in elementary school. I wouldn't consider myself a "religious" person per se, but I do consider myself spiritually fulfilled. I don't attend church, and I certainly won't make my daughter (unless, of course, my fiance changes her tune by that point and then I'll be revisiting this thread). Assuming you lose the battle, it might be a good thing for your kids to grow up knowing you're not very religious. That way, Mom is and Dad isn't, so subconsciously they know either is okay. That looks awesome! That's my type of movie. I don't go to movies anymore, but I might go to that one. Too bad it doesn't come out for four months. I had trouble viewing the trailer from the link above, so for those who have iTunes, try this "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  20. Just be careful doing yoga. You know your body better than your instructor so be sure you don't overdo any stretches. If you injure yourself doing that you'll put more of a damper on your skydiving. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  21. That's interesting because having never jumped before my first AFF, I didn't know enough to be concerned about flying the canopy. There's really nothing to it - they radio you down and tell you when to flare. I would hope pulling your own chute isn't a major concern, otherwise you should probably stick to the tandem. Of course, your instructor will do it for you if worse comes to worse. I kept telling myself 'If I forget all else, just arch and pull!' "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  22. I'd like some examples. I'm from the USA and I'm completely unaware of this. Though I would certainly classify skydiving as "awesome." "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  23. Technically, Zuffa owns both UFC and WEC. Yeah, that EliteXC was terribly cheezy. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  24. Nothing is more peaceful than being in the water whether it's on a boat, swimming, boogie boarding, or scuba diving. And you can't compete with the beauty of the sun setting over the ocean (or better yet, the moon hanging over the ocean at night). That being said, when I lived in Colorado I was amazed by what a powerful effect the mountains had on me. I think it was just being in awe of their beauty on a daily basis. Ideally, I'd have a home in both places. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
  25. Thank you monkycndo. I should have known. And if you don't skymama? I think we should make this a bet. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstein
