There is nothing wrong with F111 as long as the canopy isnt worn out and you have a light wing-loading. I mean - I have 7000+ jumps, own way too many frigging rigs - ranging in size from 99 to 150 sq ft (out the door I'm probably 160 lbs) and my favorite main on no-wind days is an F111 PD150.. Its great - I love it - I swear it has an autopilot - I look up and I say fly me home - and its so frigging docile it goes where it needs to go and lands me beautifully :-) I don't even have to steer :-) As long as the canopy is not worn out or overloaded, there is nothing wrong with F111 mains. I jump mine regularly..

I'll vouch for Craig! He's not in my region but I would absolutely vote for him if I could...

I waited about a month after I got lasik (luckily winter and crappy weather so it was easy :-) I haven't had any issues in the 10 years since... Wait 3-4 weeks and then just be extra careful for a while... My Lasik was like a miracle - before surgery I couldn't read the big E with my left eye (seriously) and I ended up 20/20. I would wake up at night actually being able to read my alarm clock and it was crazy. I spent a solid month just walking around being amazed what I could see without glasses/contacts.. It really felt like a miracle to me...

I had a rigger mis-rig an RSL so that when I chopped, my main didn't go away. After a few seconds going oh shit, I pulled the reserve which released the tension and the main flew off... The most interesting I heard about was about a dude who bought a brand new Teardrop (mid-90's?) and it was assembled at the factory. He was in Russia and had a reserve ride. The reserve was hooked up sideways!!! (I'm thinking laid out like a flat pack but hooked up like a pro-pack?) Yowsa..

I'll add - large canopies and know how to sink them in in brakes (so you save yourself a hook turn!)

For those students struggling learning to skydive
faulknerwn replied to faulknerwn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And heck - I had 48 jumps on the static line program - Cheri did 48 jumps on AFF! And didn't start skydiving until she was 54 - she's 63 now and still going strong.. -
For those students struggling learning to skydive

I just posted another friend's logbook as well as my own student logbook on my website. We both had 48 jumps when we got off student status! Read these for inspiration that just cause you have to repeat a jump or two, that you can still do it :-) Cheri's http://crwdog.servebeer.com/CRWdog/Cheri.html Mine http://crwdog.servebeer.com/CRWdog/HowCRW.html They're both quite a laugh! I've got a little over 7000 jumps now and she is just under a thousand.. -
I absolutely believe it. I always have a crazy fast heart rate - I have worn those and I was typically over 200 before jumping out of the plane (and that was as an experienced jumper!) I actually went to a doctor after I wore one during exercise.. I typically am about 80 sitting still - walking it goes up fast and after 30 seconds of jogging I hit 200 easy.. The most I ever saw on a heart rate monitor was 280 ( theoretical max was 220-my age!) Admittedly I was always good at sprinting but long distance killed me but I'm sure it was because of my heart rate.. Back when I had good insurance and I went to a doctor and did a full-blown treadmill cardio test and stuff and walking on the treadmill I was at a heartrate of 190 (not joggging - walking!!!!) when they stopped it. I was concerned but the doctor just shrugged and told me I just had a fast heart rate... If I jog for 2 minutes my heart rate will be mid-200's... If I sprint I'm sure it would be higher.. (And I was around 33 when I did all those tests)

Interesting thoughts - especially because of a canopy I bought recently. I ended up with a used rig with a brand new (

The age I find interesting as well. From what I've seen around me, young jumpers start docile and start working their way to more aggressive canopies. Somewhere around age 35-40, most start, um, feeling their age, and start mellowing out both in canopy flight and canopy choice.. I suspect that the canopy choice of the average 45 year old is considerably more conservative than canopy choice of the average 30-35 year old... The way I see it is that someone with 100 jumps jumping a 1-1 loaded Spectre is more at risk than someone with a thousand jumps on a 1.5 loaded Spectre. I think that someone with two thousand jumps on a Velocity 88 is more at risk than that 100 jump jumper on the Spectre. Canopy Choice is a huge factor.

Atheists, agnostics most knowledgeable about religion

I remember the Twilite. Not so hot. I remember when the Twilight was booked and Jeff had a different hotel. He kept getting woken up by people in the night wanting drugs! I remember one motel I stayed at - the AC was broken - not such a big deal it was fall - but I remember the bathroom door was not attached - I was staying with a male friend and I remembered having to pick up the door and kinda lean it against the entranceway to have some privacy :-)

L&B rocks. I was on a video jump in a 182 with a terrified student. I got so busy helping the student breathe and calm down (tandem) I forgot to attach my altimeter to my wrist. It went MIA.. I sent L&B a nice long poem explaining my stupidity, and Madz wrote me a nice poem back saying my new altimeter was in the mail. Is he single? He never answered me when I asked? :-)

I have seen some rookies from my dz post some questionable stuff on here. I generally reply to them privately because I know they're actually smart and willing to listen even if they don't come across that way on here :-) Generally I do private posts when I don't feel like being flamed (is this dz better than this dz?) or if its a rookie I know asking questions..

CRW Dogs:Hip Rings or Conventional Harness?
faulknerwn replied to NancyJ's topic in Gear and Rigging
I seem to recall hearing somewhere that rots guys like the standard harness better. I've jumped both for crw and I can't say I really noticed much of a difference. I mainly care about big wide thick comfy leg straps. -
There are tons of these around the dz - but not with babies! We saw one crawling across the floor last week carrying (!!!) a dead cricket with it as it walks. I don't mind em outside but when you shake out your parachute and see one of these big wolf spiders its creepy. The babies were horrid though. Our rigger who can normally pack a main in 5 minutes was on a 45 minute per parachute pace today - he was a wee bit paranoid :-)

Wolf spider. Ugh

Hello everyone, i was wondering if you could help
faulknerwn replied to liebenberg's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
All he should need is a rig with a SOS system - single handled operation. One handle both chops the main and pulls the reserve. They used to be fairly common for student jumps.. -
You'd need magnifying glass and tweezers to pick up the thousands of babies!!!!
