The real question is, how do YOU feel about it?... There are some guys that don't use condoms; in which case this is irelevent. When using a condom (or something like it,) what do you trust not getting you preggers? unfortunately ive been celibate (not by choice) for a good 8 months.. and i cant get myself preggers so im good for now but in all seriousness..i don't think id put anything inside of me that needs to solidify first...

ok so heres the update...the second procedure was thursday the 28th at 10 am and it went all wrong. There were 5 entry sites, 4 in my femoral arteries in my legs and one through my subclavian vein in my chest. The doctor realized that the accessory pathway that was causing my new arrhythmias was to close to my sinus node (which is the hearts natural pace maker) to successfully destroy the tissue so he left it alone and re-ablated the tissue that he destroyed in my FIRST procedure on july 17th. I was under anesthesia for 4 hours while he was looking for other pathways that could be causing my problem. When i woke up i had terrible chest pain and they did a chest x-ray. That is when they realized that in the process of the procedure, the needle in my chest accidentally punctured my left lung causing air to leak and fluid to get into my lung. They waited a while to see if it could possibly heal on its own but it wasn't looking good, so they kept doing chest xrays and once my lung collapsed 35% they decided to put a chest tube in me in order to drain the fluid and reinflate the lung. By now i was a mess and they didnt want to give me any pain killers in fear of it slowing down my respiration and my lungs failing. The chest tube was inserted and a dry suction was attatched to the tube that sucked out any lung fluid. I had to periodically sit up to make sure that the fluid drained and that i didn't get pneumonia... definitely not one of my finest moments. Luckily the doctor used his better judgement and didnt try to destroy the tissue near my sinus node otherwise i would have a pace maker right now. So by Friday night most of the fluid had drained from my lungs but not all of it, i could actually feel my lungs bubbling and gurgling! GROSS i know. On top of all this i kept getting the hiccups and that was awful! Saturday though was much easier, i slept all morning and then the surgeons came in and said the tube could be removed and i could go home. The tube getting pulled out was unpleasant but the relief that followed was incredible. They sent me home just an hour after the tube came out and now im at my mom's house getting looked after. So thats my story.. unfortunately they didn't fix the defect so i will be on beta blockers for the rest of my life but i plan on getting a second opinion eventually so who knows what will happen, im keeping my outlook good because what i went through isnt possibly the worst thing that could happen. I mean..fuck i could be dead

my legs falling asleep seems to be a common theme for me..i guess im just in an ill fitting harness but almost every canopy ride is uncomfortable. Im financing my own gear but im not ready to downsize yet...ive been flying a 200 when its available but on this particular day 240 was the smallest student rig that wasnt being used. -

stuck in a updraft
HeatherObscura replied to HeatherObscura's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So on my last jump i got stuck in the air under canopy for about 25 minutes and i had no idea that was possible.. so heres the story first of all ill preface this by saying i was jumping a 240 which is HUGE for me (im 130 lbs) but the only student rig that was left at the time.. On the way to altitude, an instructor told me to pull a little low because he thought it was going to storm and it was getting really cloudy. Up until this point i was pulling at 5 but i hummed it down to 4 on this jump. Canopy opens pretty good, a line twist or two, i look around me and theres just dark clouds so i try to just make s turns on top of my landing area so i dont get blown away somewhere...i look at my alti, and i seem to be stuck at 2000 ft for a few minutes. Make a few more s turns, getting nervous, look at my altimeter again and it says 3000 ft..holy shit, i thought my alti broke but then i realized the ground was getting smaller AND the wind had picked up in the complete opposite direction of the landing pattern i planed. i knew i could do some spirals to lose altitude but there was so much turbulence that i didnt want to induce any line twists or anything.. i thought i was going to be stuck in the sky forever. My legs were going numb and i saw lightning. I gathered myself together, got away from the clouds and eventually got to the ground. i stood up my landing but my legs were totally asleep and i walked goofy for a while till i got the blood flowing back through...all was well in the end, got some good advice and i have to say that was a definite learning experience, i just wish someone had told me that was not only possible, but very likely for the conditions. next time when i look out one side of the plane at 10 grand and theres a big black cloud..i think ill ride the plane down -
yeah its scary but isnt that the whole point...if its something you cant stop thinking about then i think you should just do it, save up for another tandem so you dont have that first time overload. On the other side, plenty of people go straight to AFF without even doing a tandem Im 21 and in college and it is VERY expensive, and its not like you can just do it all at your own pace because it forces you to keep spending money. You have to keep current so you have jump every week or so, you have to rent gear until you know what you want so you can finally put your money towards something you're going to own, i dont know how close you are to the dz but theres gas costs, and other gear like jumpsuits, helmet ,altimeter, audibles, blah blah blah its all money but if you compare it with other sports, its often equally expensive.. fancy bikes, kayaks, rock climbing gear whatever...its all going to cost you money but in the long run, you cant take it with you, its just fun tickets... i dont know if that helped or i just rambled, but either way, good luck
