  1. sorry have not changed it in a bit i started jumping about 2 and a half years ago. be the end of the season here in canada i will have about 100 jumps live and let live
  2. first of all i would like to say that i posted this here cause i wanted to hear from TI video flyers and coaches. if the mods don't think it should be here then please move it. my friend and I are talking about going somewhere for the winter maybe after X-mas maybe as late as spring and getting about 400 jumps. i know this means being at one place for a long time and we are both ok with that. so here are things to take into acount. 1:we both want to be TIs so it would be nice to go somewhere that after all of this if we prove are selves there might be a job openning for us. 2: the chance to do some coaching or fly video for tandems to pay for as many jumps as we can. 3: places that we could pull a small trailer or at the lest set up a tent 4: the cost of jumps to be low. lodi looks really good at 13 bucks a jump! but are there any other places out there that are cheaper if you buy 50 jump tickets at ones or something like that? anything around 13 to 18 bucks a jump would be cool if its a good place to learn 5: a good place to hang out maybe with a city (the bigger the better) close by that would be a good getaway. top points if there is a beach close by 6: a DZ that we can jump at lest 6 days a week so that is what i'm looking for in no real order... i guess the biggest thing would be getting a chance to coach and fly video. that and the cheaper the better so where did you learn to teach TI or video? how was it? and would you go back and do it at the same place again? do you know any places that meet all or some of what i'm looking for? i hope to have my coach 1 next week so i think thats a good start! thanks for any input Cheers live and let live
  3. can i help you ?? good job keep it up live and let live
  4. couldn't find a full vid :-( got a small read up on it and it sounds like it was nuts i'm sure in 3 or 4 days finding the vid will be easyer live and let live
  5. dam i missed it.... no tv at my moms place was it really that bad ? do you know any where that i can see the full race?? live and let live
  6. i think i see things better now. when i first posted this 3 or 4 people pmed me and they have been a really big help. i didn't post this to say i was better then any one or to say that i learn faster. i posted this cuz i knew i was going down the wrong path and i wanted some one to talk to about it. some one who has been in the same frame of mind. most of dz.com blasted me for posting this but even tho alot of people might think less of me for it posting this has helped me make 3 great friends who have helped me out alot with my mind set and the way i think about life not just skydiving. and Holliday is a great packing teacher its lucky i cought on fast tho. that tire iron she was holding had dry blood from when she was teaching jesse how to pack live and let live
  7. pfft i would just bust out the good old hooknife yup i would give him a hair cut that was so bad that he would have to kill himself live and let live
  8. I'm not sure how I forgot this one (or how everyone else forgot it too), how about a TEST RIDE? Give her the opportunity to throw a leg over each bike she's considering, and take it for a spin. If she's light on street bike experience, and you don't want her riding a strange bike in a strange neighborhood, an empty mall or movie theater parking lot should provide plenty of open space for her to get a feel for the the bike. Have her do a handful of starts and stops, have her do some backing up to see how it feels to manuver it around, run through a few gears, and just overall see what's the most comfortable to her. Certain bikes just 'feel' right to different people. The seat, peg and bar position, the feel of the clutch and throttle, etc. And I cannot agree enough about proper riding gear. I know she likes cruisers, and you guys are looking at a Harley, but just understand the majority of Harley riders are sorely under-dressed. Just because the bike is called a 'cruiser' if a car takes you out at 45 mph, you go down just the same as a guy on a crotch rocket. Make sure the clothing is genuine bike gear, and not a discount store knock off, and make sure she is commited to wearing it EVERY time she rides, no matter how short the ride is, or how hot it is out side. It can literally make the difference between getting up and walking away from an accident, or months of skin grafts and permanent scars (it could be much, much worse, but a get-off at residential speeds is easily survivable, but without abbration resistant gear, you'll get chewed up pretty good). +1 i have been down on my bike 4 times. 3 times it was other cars/a big red truck. one time it was 100% my fault and i when for a slide. i was luck cuz i wasn't going to wear leather that night. and i even got as far as starting my bike b4 i thought... what the hell ill just put my full suit on just in case. if i wasn't wearing my suit my life would have over. if by chance i would have lived then i would have to oil my scars every day. make sure to get gear thats armored live and let live
  9. also its not a bad idea to put a set of sliders or slide pucks on the side of the bike for the first time its laid down I have heard - not experienced - that the pucks add distance to the slide after laydown. Therefore adding risk and danger. frame sliders are the number 1 thing you can get short of a full crash cage to save your bike if you drop it! more then once i have picked my bike up from a highway crash and was able to ride it away do to my frame sliders. plus even if your just standing with the bike and drop it or your not there and some one push's your bike over they can save you alot of money. i will not ride with out them. they can also help by making space for your leg so if you do drop it you don't lose your leg. one of my good friends is one leg short for the rest of his life cuz he was to lazy to bolt on his frame sliders after rebuilding his bike. crashed out on some sand in a twisty and woke up with only one leg the other was crushed by the bike live and let live
  10. You were his SSI coach. I think this trumps my packing coaching. hey you did a great job. everything i packed has opened (knock on wood) live and let live
  11. maybe you want to read the post. i was asking how guys/girls that thought like me slowed down b4 they got hurt..... thanks for the swing. keep your eye on the ball and you won't miss it next time live and let live
  12. i went from a sabre to a monarch and i have to say your right that monarch opens hard but i like it over the pilot that thing takes to long live and let live
  13. Glad I could provide another perspective. Last year I jumped canopies ranging from 117 (loaded at about 1.2) to 218 sq. ft. including both rectangular and semi-elliptical, 7 and 9 cell, ZP and F1-11. There was at least one really fun or memorable thing about each one of those jumps. That said, you don't have to downsize to get a more "fun" or responsive canopy. Have you tried out a semi-elliptical 170? As mentioned earlier in the thread, the Safire2, Sabre2 and Pilot (as well as the Spectre, Storm, Silhouette, and several others) all come in sizes between 168-170, and all are available to be demo'd so you can try them out before you buy one. Or maybe a friend at your dropzone has one you can try for a few jumps? yea i think ill ask some ppl at my dz if i can try out there stuff but untill then ill stick to speedflying live and let live
  14. This made me laugh and reminded me of a conversation I was having with a friend recently about solo jumps being boring. I stopped and thought about it for a minute, then I was like "What the hell is wrong with me? Did I just call jumping from an airplane BORING?!?" Your landing is very important, but it's only one small part of your skydive. Maybe do something more "exciting" in freefall? Or do some higher speed canopy exercises before you start your landing pattern (if you have clear air space)? That way you could have your thrills above 1000 feet for a few hundred jumps while you gain the experience to jump a smaller canopy. wow you just blew my mind.... really thought you make a good point. thank you for bringing that point up live and let live
  15. Super! That's so great to hear. Now learn how to do it on a DZ, over flat ground, with other people around, both in the air and on the ground. It's not the same as what you're doing now. It's close, but not the same. If you happen to find out the hard way what the differences are, then that's a mess the DZO has to deal with. And really, talking about front riser input on final with 50 jumps is not going to buy you any goodwill with the management at any DZ. It's one of the downsides of skydiving, you have to deal with DZOs. (and manifest, and pilots, and other jumpers, and on and on and on). I have had many landings on flat ground with my 135 and i am landing in a much smaller place then the lz at my dz most of the time with alot of trees in the way you make a good point about other canopys in the air tho live and let live
  16. I didn't get upset with your question; I think it's a good one. Did you get upset at my answer? My point is that, while everybody can have an opinion about this, most are not able to do anything about it. I'm not, so you don't have to call me sir. The last line might be hard to understand. I said that because I usually land after everybody else. not mad at all thought it was a nice post your one of theomly people that was not like .... don`t do it. you will die and kill me as well for sure. alot of people missed the point so ill say it again. i was asking if me speed riding and foot launching a 135 all winter long would make you think twice about letting me jump a smaller wing. and why you would let me or why you would not let me. live and let live
  17. not trying to learn how to jump here just seeing what most people think. I tryed to get time off to go to eloy but i just could not swing it as for the canopy i would get if or when i do downsize i have not really thought about that one yet i like my monarch maybe a 155 of the same one live and let live
  18. hahaha hey i ticked the 150 box i think all the people the ticked that box have handycams lol but all jokes aside i`m flying a 135 ft hellracer *CANOPY* right now with about 20 lbs more on me then when i`m skydiving and my landings have been fine. i was just thinking going back to a 175 would be boring with out fronts on landing but many people at my dz will yell at me if i`m on my fronts live and let live
  19. thank you sir ill do my best not to note to any one who is getting upset i am just asking is that a crime live and let live
  20. Our CI always puts new canopies out low. You got a specific goal to focus on, short ride to altitude, no other distractions and little to no traffic. Perhaps likestojump has another reason, but that's ours. that makes sense i think i would like to go to the top and do a go and throw. thats what i did last time i moved down from a 190 to a 175. plus there is just something about hop and pops at 10000 feet are just fun
  21. how could you vote that way. after seeing my mad skills live and let live
  22. Skydiving boring? GL it then... i do just about every chance i get but its not the same as hanging out at the dz but i still plan on having fun in the rockys live and let live
  23. ok that sounds fare .. now lets say its a small c206 dz that you own live and let live
  24. read b4 answering the poll plz I have been launching my hellracer 12.7m (135ft) from foot and ski's I have maybe about 150 landings on the hellracer and most of them are stand up. I would say about 90% i have landed down hill, up hill, on the side of a hill, and on flat the wing loading is a bit higher then it would be skydiving cuz of ski's and lots of clothes, or big boots and lots of clothes. my last 50 or so were foot launching of a cliff on to flat ground. i have 49 jumps skydiving and all be 3 have been stand up landings. i have a ton of fun on my hellracer and i'm thinking that going back to my monarch might be a bit boring so if you had your own dz and you were the boss what would you say ?? ps your dz is a small cessna dz won't let me change spelling on poll live and let live
