http://www.l-and-b.dk/downloads/manuals/pdf/visoII/VISOII_Manual_040909.pdf If I translated your spelling right. RTFM losing it is not an excuse! I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

I haven't seen anyone be able to tell people they can't do a legal activity in their off time. Smoke on the job? Sure they can ban it. Smoke at home? Insurance rates are discounted for non-smokers in all of my experience. Alcohol clears fast enough to be able to be sober (within some definition) for work. Group life insurance may not pay out for skydiving, motorcycle racing, etc. Still get to work, just pay for or exclude benefits. Pot... Not legal at federal level so still breaking the law. (yet to be adjudicated AFAIK states rights vs feds) Doesn't clear so even passive contact measurable at work. Got to believe firing for pot would be upheld because of continued presence in body, let alone illegal activity. Of course it all becomes moot in an 'at will' state where you can be fired for any reason that doesn't include a protected class. Or in the case of employment contracts that expressly state the requirements of employment. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

And rather than doing it in a wind tunnel tests are being sponsored by PIA measuring pull force and extraction force during live jumps. Force sensor on the bridle, PC being towed with burble of.live jumper. Project just underway and takes weeks per container brand. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Only reason I'd use a rack is to display prized rigs, like my 1928 Irvin B-1 emergency rig. You regular gear? Though it in a gear bag in the closet, or the bin quoted above. No rack necessary. How many times can we say rack with out a boobie option? I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

I would never represent the PIA website list as exhaustive and complete. It is based on submissions to the webmaster. The APF site looks near the bottom of the PIA list is probably more exhaustive. It is a regulatory body that has the goal of being complete. Neither.of.these may have documents for gear not approved in their country. The best source is the individual manufacturers. Even then things like the Capewell ripcord pin SB may not be referenced. After I first posted this it took me one minute to find two 2011 SB's not on the PIA list. Second edit. When I thought about it again it took me another 30 seconds to find a couple of dozen service bulletins not on PIA website. A bunch from Strong, some from UPT/RW, one from Mirage, etc. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Tell 80 jump wonder to pound dirt. I used a wooden toggle from an old round to pack my strato cloud into a strato star container in 1981. Along with two feet. The person using it needs to know that they're not making the rig too tight. That may be why the 80 jump wonder was told not to use it. Just like I won't let a baby rigger use a crank tool on a reserve a new jumper needs to be able to learn the feel of the rig when it's right and when it's wrong. I'm old for my age. Depends on whether you want to sell to Racer owners. For older two pin rigs I wouldn't bother. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Low military cutaway video?
councilman24 replied to councilman24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He may have been trying to cut away for awhile. It's much harder to cut away the second capewell if you don't get them both at.the same time. During my first jump training in 1978 we had to practice cutting away hanging from one shot and a half capewell. It took both hands and a lot of force. I'm old for my age. Low military cutaway video?
councilman24 replied to councilman24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think he tried to chop when the two were together. Has capewells. Probably got.one and fought to get the other one while canopy held inflated by cross connector. Or one cape well got released by accident. Before the.cutaway is.completed you can see his reserve PC out. Good video to prove.that when the parachute.is open your done slowing down. Low military cutaway video?
councilman24 replied to councilman24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's the one thanks. Figure it, along with real bailouts, will sho pilots how fast a parachute can open. Nothing.else I've seen.is videoed from quite this close. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE -
Low military cutaway video?
councilman24 replied to councilman24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Two or three years ago there was a link posted to a video of a military jumper cutting away low. As I recall he rode a round partial malfunction for a long time. Then when too low to get away with it cut away. His round reserve opened feet above the ground. Not even sure it was completely slowed down but he walked away. Have looked but couldn't find it. Any help? I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE -

Rusty said it was effective immediately. And that manual would be revised. Don't know if there will be a service bulletin. Because they've never had one fail tensile testing. 40 pack/25 ride recert is still in effect. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Way behind schedule. Weather, rigging, etc. We saw one raw load cell graph and some video in tech committee during the business meeting. Next business meeting is in Sacramento in August, then Southwest (Phoenix ?) early 2016. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Oh, and as of now annual pull testing of PD reserves is no longer required. Per Rusty Vest at his seminar on canopy recert. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Wings tandem, I assume replacing Plexus in the market. Didn't look very close. Standard Precision reserve. RI Curve replaces main side flap and bottom reserve flap grommets with U shaped wire loops sticking out from binding tape. Less bulk and flaps themselves don't stack on each other. Looks pretty good if durable. Museum is now Skydiving Museum and Hall of Fame. Property in Lynchberg for sale. Going to Orlando in conjunction with a wind tunnel. Consew has new line of sewing machines. Premier, based on Juki models with some changes. Minor fixes on Javelin. Highlight was presentation by Alan Eustace on high 135,000' plus skydive. Humble regular guy. Suit on display and unseen video of really bad early jump landings shown. Took photos with anyone who wanted. Class act. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

During my presentation on the lap parachute it will be there to pack. I probably won't chose to pack it and talk at the same time. As last Symposium, if someone familiar with rounds would like to pack it, show off their skill to the masses (all 2 attending) and get a lap pack job signed off in their log it would be great to have volunteers.

Terry, When you say "many" (without documented proof of a tested study), it is an opinion. Also, "many " is a vague number/statement compared to some unknown comparison. MEL So you argue the adjective? I've talked to enough "know" it is not a few, not several, I considered most but that would be an opinion so settled on many. I stand by many based on personal observation of PIA committees and others. And still haven't voiced my opinion. See you in FL. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

The fact is you believe (substitute know if you'd like) it and others don't. I didn't state my opinion. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

Ah but more than one FAA official has said in recent.years they would issue a parachute AD. We'll know when it happens. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

See attached letter Ottinger got when he asked. Think I win. Manf. can impose a regulatory service life asking for a AWD. Of course FAA has refused to issue AWD's on parachute for decades (last 1988? too hard to look up on phone.) So maybe not. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

I'll have to read the letter again but I thought.it said.or.implied that a manufacturer could add a service life to the manual for products.sold.going forward but not retroactively. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
