  1. Well, the precision is likely to the minute and the foot. It can't be 0 minutes. Your not superman or a quark and be in every part of your house at once. (Physicists, to bother correcting me. He gets the idea.) I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  2. It worked pretty well on my desk top. Not quite field of view but you can spin it most directions. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  3. I don't have much more advice to break the habit. But that ingrained PLF, that I have from sport landings under the same canopies, will save your ass when others will be crippled. If landing looks sketchy drop into a PLF and save getting hurt. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  4. Is the Multi out yet? Supposed to be. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  5. I have for many of Bill's reasons. And there are times I've jumped when no one else did. We took up a 182 load of sub 400 jumpers with new sniveling canopies and could only get 2000' with a rain shower ahead. None of these folks had gotten out much below 4000'. With their canopies and inexperience none wanted to get out. I flip flopped and decided I didn't like landing in airplanes. Got out in rain shower at 2000' after telling everyone else to stay. Glad I did. NEVER get out because everyone else is if you don't think you should. Some people may kid you but secretly they are admiring you and your building up a reputation as a responsible jumper. Always a good thing. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  6. I didn't think the new Mars were available yet but thought you knew something I didn't. Or one more thing I didn't. At the symposium they actually had a spec side to their mock up 'Multi' flyer that they wouldn't let me photograph. Still in development. They need to get it out. I truly believe that with modern gear 750' is to low. My AADs are set at 1050' All of your post is why I don't try to keep up with any AAD's but the one I own other than help others read they manual and why my comment earlier about everyone needs to read their manual completely. Along with different versions of the Vigil in the field. Their are many supposed cypres misfirings but the data for all up to the time were shared with me. The Cypres always fired when it's firing parameters were reached. But sometimes the speed was reached until lower that 750. Or they were turned on somewhere else. etc. etc. I believe the claim that Cypres has always fired when it was supposed to but that is different than when someone THINKS is should have fired and doesn't mean the reserve opened in time. WHEN MARs allows raising the routine firing altitude from 750' I'll recommend them. I'm still a cypres man for many reasons, some not relating to specs or function. I'm old for my age. 7. Ofhers seem to have misunderstood but I apologize. And yes you talking out your ass if you think this is a reason to turn your AAD off. Either bite the bullet and spend a few minutes each jump at your normal dz to save your life or sell it and buy a different one. I have over half my jumps before electronic AADs came out. And many people wouldn't jump with an experinced jumper with an AAD pre.cypres because they thought it was too dangerous. No reason other than too cheap to jump without one now. And I admit to being.too cheap to have one for each of my four rigs. I have two and choose them for combat RW. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  8. RTFM! I don't own a MARs and haven't used one and it took me 3 minutes to find the manual on line, download it, and find the answer. Yes it turns off after every offset jump. It is very important that every AAD owner completely understand how their AAD works. Several people have died because they didn't understand their AAD or didn't use it right. I'm old for my age. 9. New manuals have fabric between the coils as you compress it. Stand the pilot chute upright on the locking strap. While compressing pilot chute, neatly and symmetrically tuck the pilot chute’s canopy cloth in between the coils of the spring. Continue until the pilot chute is fully compressed and lock with locking strap. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  11. I've had three Strong PEP's from two different riggers in different parts of the country. come through where the stuffed ALL the PC material into the CENTER bottom of the PC spring. Not into the sides, into the center of the bottom of the spring as far as they could. These PC's did no more than stand up. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  14. *** Correctrion Lee, requiring a Master rigger AND manufacturer's approval or FAA field approval. NOT or. A master rigger can't do any alteration without manufacturers approval or FAA approval. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

  16. The only parts routinly painted have been non-critical parts, most often pilot chute caps on Racers. Many other odd ball rigs like leather, fur, painted etc are overlays of additional fabric, authorized by the manufacturer, over the normal flaps and material. DO NOT have some one take an airbrush to your rig without express written permission from the manufacturer with materials and techniques listed. Unlikely to occur. If your pin protector flaps can be removed and reinstalled then permission is more likely. Don't do them in place and don't do ANYTHING with canopies in conta9ner. Paint your helmet, leave you rig alone. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  17. 99% of riggers wouldn't know what to do with a can of paint. I'm a chemist and would probably just say no. Unless it's blue or yellow and says parachute marking ink on it.😉 I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  18. Our dz routinely takes paras with limited arm motion. See thread two down on disabled passenger aids. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  19. In the US there is a program for citizens to learn the effects of low oxygen at high altitude by taking a one day class that includes a ride in a high altitude chamber (vacuum chamber) . Lets you learn how high altitude effects you and how stupid you get. These are d9ne on military bases, at least mine was, so travelling to US to take advantage of it is probably not an option. In addition it takes many months to get a slot in the class, last I knew. IF you can arrange or have something similar in you country it would be valuable to do. I'm old for my age. 20. It's not on ebay right now but usually there is a guy selling plastic versions. It's the only 308 stitch cam I've ever seen. The original set of cams that came with the machine did not include that cam. It was available separately. Some must exist but I've never seen a metal one for sale. It's unclear to me if global, who makes new 217s makes the small cam cor 308. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  21. The problem is they won't haunt them. You have to have common sense to see the irony in them. He'll stand by them, say he was still right, and that everything similar happening to him is a fourth estate conspiracy of fake news by 'bad' people. The talking heads keep talked about whether Trump committed obstruction of justice, past tense. They should be using present tense. It's ongoing and getting deeper and deeper. If it didn't, or doesn't yet rise to that level it will soon. The fact he said he was considering firing Mueller and then sent the friend out to try it out adds to the obstruction of justice case. He only has to try, not to be successful. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  22. It was interaction between coating and fabric. It was where you could feel the urethane on the reserve. I routinely tested canopies whwre you could feel the transfer with no issues. Then this one failed before I could evwn really load it. Just like acid mesh failures were NOT just the mesh. I had one bias constructed canopy with two white panels in one gore next to one piece of mesh. One panel failed at 2-3 lbs and the other was full strength. Since the day they were sewn together they saw exactly the same environment. Of course the two pieces of white fabric could have been from different bolts, lots, or even suppliers. It was NEVER just the mesh. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  23. The only ram air reserve I have ever heard of failing a fabric tensile test is an APS Laser that I found. It failed at less than 2 pounds in a limited area. No abuse. Deterioration based in combination with coated free bag. Nobody seems to believe me but I still have it. I have choose not to pack one since. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
  24. If its an original Raven no. I haven't packed one of them aince the 80's for design reasons. Super Raven of course depends. If it has been in constant use and kept in date it wuite likely is wore out from packing. If it has been a closet queen maybe. Would I not pack it based on age alone? No. I'm old for my age. 25. I don't quite see how the seamless rigging product works and the website didn't want to give me any. I have rebuilt and made a second system for my dropzone. Our system is much less extensive or complex than Jay's pants. There used to be a several page document on them on skydivekansas website but I don't believe that it's online anymore. Another version is shown on this link. The ones I made are similar but have a cam buckle only on one side with a "pulley" ring in the middle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYTx0GG28aM PM me for more information. I'm old for my age.
