Sure, as long as you don't want it to be accurate in free fall Now seriously guys, if everyone will spend one minute to send a mail to Suunto, we might have a real altimeter watch, Gilead

The bettery is rechargeable :) Not on the airplane or in freefall. It's not that the battery can go dead, but rather WHEN the battery can go dead. It have a battery indicator :) The watch is a GPS watch and for the time I charge it once after 2 weeks that included a lot of running with the GPS working...

Hi guys, Short update: we do have a chance :) I got reply from Suunto and they might do it, All we need now is to build up a market, I'm pretty sure that Suunto will do it if they will get enough requests to speed up the altimeter refresh rate. So go ahead guys and send Suunto emails. Here is my correspondence with Suunto Ambit customize options gilead izak May 4 (5 days ago) to ambit Hello, I do love my Ambit but is an improvements idea: I would love to have an option to speed up the altimeter refresh rate so it will be more accurate on skydiving, I'm talking about every 1/10 of a second. Thanks Gilead From: ambit@suunto.com May 8 (1 day ago) to me Dear Gilead, Thank you for your feedback! This will be taken into consideration when we plan the next software updates. Regards, The Suunto Ambit team***

Hi, I just got my new Suunto Ambit - the new Suunto GPS watch. It have an altimeter with a big display but like all other Suunto altimeter watches the altimeter refresh rate is once every second, which is too slow for free fall (the watch have a 200-500 feet dealay, compering with VISO)... BUT - the watch frame ware get update one in a while, I believe it is possible to speed up the altimeter refresh rate so I emailed a request to Suunto software developers. I think that they will not do it for one request but if they will get 200 requests..... So please help us to get a real skydiving watch and send a request for faster refresh rate to: ambit@suunto.com Good luck :) Gilead

What SD card do you use? It might be a faulty card or low class card (I think less then 10 but no sure) Gilead

Wings or no wings for heavier videographer
gilead1 replied to Throttlebender's topic in Gear and Rigging
Always use the right tool for the job!!! A camera suit is much more than "floating tool", but unlike a baggy freefly suit - you have to know how to fly it!!! It might be dangerous in the wrong hands. the bottom line: I strongly recommend on a camera suit with wings, but talk with experienced videographer or S&T before jumping it with tandem. I I have used the bite switch and the tongue switch, but I'm in love with my PRO Mouth Switch The bite switch worked fine for me but I had to replace it every 50-100 jumps. I didn't try the blow switch - I need a feedback which the blow switch don't give.

I suggest you to read this: Small Format Camera "Incident" list I'm sure you are very talented, but it will not cover the lack of experience. Be safe

As long as its opens and fly the way it is - who cares?

Hello At first it looks like a very nice helmet (if you add a chin cup and a quick release), But after a closer look it seems like the ratchet on the back might be a snag hazard or to entangle with the collapsed slider tied behind the neck. Does someone jumping with Bonehead Hell's Halo and can share? Is it worth it or the Optik 210 will do? Thanks Gilead

Thanks, I needed to hear it Gilead P.S Do you use a bridle extension?

True, but different bagging means different exit from the bag. I think that the S folding of the pro pack minimized the friction between the canopy and the bag, comparing the psych pack. The Semi Stowless D-Bag is more "stiff" comparing to the regular bag due to the extra flap and the tuck tabs. My main concern is to damage the top skin of the center cell. Gilead Any other thought? Are we the only 2 that combine Psycho pack and the semi stowless d-bag?

icaros crossfire VS neos VS Katana
gilead1 replied to gilead1's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
QuoteWow Tony has always been a PD guy he might have been the first person I see jumping a velo. JFX sounds very interesting I put my velo in the closet got tired of opening fear 2 chops in 25 jumps. Of course probably all my fault. Well, all I can tell you is that the Xaos 21 opening are the sweetest I ever have... Cant ask for better -
Something Does not sound right... What size the canopy is? according to PD the max weight for saber 1 will load the canopy at about 1.5.... do you really want to load your canopy more than 1.5 with 40 jumps???!!! what rigger will ignore manufacturer limit weight or will recommend a newbie to load any canopy to the max? I'm sure i miss something but I strongly suggest you to consult an experienced instructor before jumping this gear Gilead

icaros crossfire VS neos VS Katana
gilead1 replied to gilead1's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well, since someone brought this post up I decided to share the outcome - XAOS-21 94 loaded @ 1.98. Although I didn't think a crossbrace as an option I had to try it after this post and I must say that it is the sweetest canopy ever!!! thanks you all for the inputs that helped me choose this canopy :) Happy New Year -
This is what ego is all about - to be able to admit that even with 4500+ jumps, instructions rating and 17 years in the sport i screw up like a newbie and if you want more - this is my first cross brace So I'm using straight front risers landing for now.... not cool at my experience.... but any way, you are totally right - any comment is fair Gilead P.s 1. I'm not a rigger so it is not so wrong to get hard time begging a new canopy in to a small bag (even a pecker worked hard) 2. I'm not using packing tricks - I'm following the manufacturer recommendation
-
mostly true, but - 1. the D-bag size is a factor you ignored 2. I'm psyco packing because it is the manufacturer recommendation and I believe they know the best. 3. for the last 6 years I rarely pack for my self
-
No my friend, Maybe I was not clear enough but I did not blame the canopy!!! on the contrary - I'm quit sure I didn't have to cutaway thanks to the grate symmetric opening of the XAOS, And yes - I'm learning how to pack and the learning process involved line twist, maybe this post will help one to avoid it
