  1. Errr.. How much money ARE we talkin here?
  2. You are clearly under some misconception that you have rights to certain information. The Mfg. has made their decision, get on with your life, Otherwise buy the company and change what you want with it. I am not trying to convince you of anything. I was only offering you constructive criticism because I think that you have a lot of knowledge to offer the industry and your "bad-mouthing" does not make the Mfg. look bad, it makes you look exactly like you have just said, it's just "bad-mouthing". By your own words there is no objectivity in your views about this Mfg. People do not generally perceive consistent negative comments from someone well. Like I said before, stick to the proactive constructive knowledge that you usually provide and that I generally look forward to as you will provide skydiving with a wonderful source of knowledge and information for years to come. I strongly disagree with your comments towards Riggerrob. I think a dissenting opinion is healthy for this sport. I value and respect Riggerrobs opinions on gear even if I don't always agree with everything he says. There have been times in the past with this sport that manufactureres have been taken to task on the safety of their merchandise because we had voices like Riggerrob. If you don't agree with him on a topic, then rebut what he says with contrary facts. IMO it is you who has diminished stature because of your efforts to silence Riggerrob.
  3. QuoteMan Gravity ..no offence but relax ...he just said he cuaght himself and hes fixing it...I'm sure you cant tell me you havnt missed anything in your life and thought o shit I better get it fixed!! Quote Yep, I have. Plenty of times. I was also grateful for the times when I was thinking about letting something slide and someone pointed out the consequences to me.
  4. Sorry, I didn't mean my comments to be personally directed at you.
  5. Whats the DOM? Any holes? How do the lines look? Any fraying? Does the slider have stainless steel grommets or brass? If it's in good shape, has SS grommets, I'd say about $800-$900. have a rigger look it over before completing the sale.
  6. Then what would you call it? I'm not sure I follow?? What would I call what?Quote What would you call your failure to maintain your gear properly by getting repacks when due. My experience is many who are causual about repacks are also casual about other aspects of skydiving. Why have standards at all if our attitude is that we can always push them a little further? If 2 or 3 days after a repack is due is O.K., then why not a few weeks? If thats O.K. , why not a few months? Hell, what wrong with a year? Although it's a rare occurance, jumping an out of date reserve "COULD" jeapordize the pilots license. Not trying to bust your chops, just trying to get you to think about your statement. Where do you draw the line? For what it's worth, I am for the 180 day repack cycle, but until we have it, I think it's our responsibility to maintain our gear according to the FARs. FARS aren't suggestions, they are the law.
  7. Not a bad deal. What will your wing loading on that Hornet be?
  8. Nope, no Jedei's lately. Thanks for the additional information, that clears things up. Your original post seemed sort of speculative thats why I asked for clarification.
  9. Off course it matters, but that has never been the reasoning for this war, or any other war fought by the US or any other country.Quote The Bosnian War was fought to end "Ethnic Cleansing". However the world wasn't upset about it because a Democrat was President then.
  10. QuoteThat technique is used for Dacron lines on reserves because a knot wold be so bulky. So it could have been a rigger. Applying that technique to thinner lines doesn't work, obviously. I prefer to finger-trap the loop for attaching toogles and sew. No knot to hang up and is very clean.Quote I'm fully aware of this. However he states the line is not Dacron and the canopy was a main not a reserve. He also indicates they don't know who the rigger is. Why not just ask the jumper? I think it's logical to question whether a rigger performed this work and to ask why they think it was done by a rigger. Perhaps the jumper or a friend did it and they don't want to reveal that individuals identity.
  11. Depends on whether you are just trying to break a few bones or end it all.
  12. Why are you so sure the work was performed by a rigger? The way you describe the attachment, it seems more likely to have been done by someone NOT familiar with the proper way to attach the toggle.
  13. Quotefederal judge has ordered Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and others to pay September 11th victims, saying there is evidence, though meager, that Iraq had a hand in the terrorist attacks. Oh, really? Yes, my friends, U.S. district judge Harold Baer ordered that the damages be paid by bin Laden, al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Saddam, and the former Iraqi government. The judge ruled against them by default after they failed to respond to the lawsuits brought on behalf of two of the Trade Center dead. James E. Beasley, a Philadelphia lawyer, who brought the case, hopes to collect the money from frozen Iraqi, bin Laden, and al-Qaeda assets. Now, the significance here is this. This judge, Harold Baer, is a notoriously left-wing judge – and even he couldn't ignore the links between Iraq, Saddam Hussein, and 9-11 I wouldn't give too much weight to this judgement, Bill. It is pretty much a default judgement because the Defendants weren't able to show up and defend themselves. I also seriously doubt they will ever collect any money from Osama, The Taliban, Iraq, or saddam Hussein.
  14. You may want to investigate how you would mount a JVC since there are no D-boxes available for them. Additionally, you can't use a Cam-eye nor Firewire. Sony is the only way to go.
  15. You might be disappointed but I would bet you the troops on that ship wouldn't mind.
  16. As much as I'd like to be there, Saturday jumping for me is rare. Mostly Fridays and Sundays unless of course I really want to give up a lot of income by taking Saturday off work. You ever get Dave D. to look at that Triathlon?
  17. These are supposedly true statements made on Insurance claim forms. True or not, some are funny. Coming home I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have. The other car collided with mine without giving me warning of its intention. I thought my window was down, but I found it was up when I put my head through it. I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way. A pedestrian hit me and went under my car. The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve several times before I hit him. I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother in law and headed over the embankment. In an attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole. I had been shopping for a plant all day and was on my way home. As I reached an inter-section a hedge sprang up, obscuring my vision and I did not see the other car. I had been driving for 40 years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident. I was on the way to the doctor with rear end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident and damage my big end. As I approached the intersection a sign appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident. To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front I stuck a pedestrian. My car was legally parked as it backed into another vehicle. An invisible car came out of nowhere, stuck my car and vanished. I told the police that I was not injured, but on removing my hat I found that I had a fractured skull. I was sure the old fellow would never make it to the other side of the road when I struck him. The pedestrian had no idea which direction to run. So I ran over him. I saw a slow moving, sad faced old gentleman as he bounced off the roof of my car. The indirect cause of the accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth. I was thrown from my car as it left the road. I was later found in a ditch by some stray cows. The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out the way when I struck the front end. The accident was caused by me waving to the man I hit last week. I knocked over a man, he admitted it was his fault as he'd been knocked over before.
  18. Not sure exactly what you mean by a "mid-flap" but typically a flap replacement is around $100 without pinstripes. This repair requires either a Master Rigger or the factory to perform the work. It is beyond the certification of a Senior Rigger.
  19. Sounds fair to me. They give you notice in advance about their policy, this keeps them from having to track you down to notify you of every little necessary repair. Would you want them to just set your rig to the side and not finish it until they contact you? Most people wouldn't and most people would be pissed if they went to pick up their rig on Friday night before a Boogie and were told it wasn't done because the loft was unable to reach them. In my area, an automobile repair shop can add up to 10% to their estimate before they have to notify the owner. If you trust your rigger to look out for your safety, then you trust him to only make repairs if he feels they are necessry. Would you let $25.00 stand between you and your safety? If you don't like it, you can take your gear elsewhere.
  20. Go for it. It's like kinky sex, it only seems kinky at first.
  21. But.....but......but........... She looked so good in the bar the night before after 8 or 10 double shots of Wild Turkey
