Here's what a NYT's Editorial might have gone like if Romney had been elected instead of Obama.
-
Yeah, I knew you would consider Democratic Underground as a credible source.

Sorry, but I don't think bombs will prevent Assad from using CW's if he feels threatened with loss of power and perhaps his life. The only thing that will stop him is either to kill him, which we both agree would not be ideal as we would be turning the country over to the AQ backed rebels, or to remove the CW's so he no longer has them. Come on Quade, you are the one always pontificating that the only way to prevent gun crime is to ban guns. Why can't you use that same logic here? Heck, I'll even agree the only way to prevent criminals from using a weapon is to take it away from them. Third option would be a complete isolation with U.N sanctions. Nothing goes in, nothing goes out.

I've also read that it would take about 75,00 ground troops to get Syrias CW's. Are you willing to commit that many Americans? Doesn't seem to make any sense to initiate any type of action unless the end result is that Assad no longer has CW's available.

We don't have the money to pay for an actual invasion. Maybe we could get the Saudi's to pay for it. You know, like we were told Iraqi oil would pay for that one.
-
Why do you suppose most other countries aren't signing up? Would you support the US going it alone? What possible difference could firing off a few dozen cruise missiles have? The won't cause Assad to leave office. If anything, it will strength his resolve. But let's suppose I'm wrong and Assad leaves office or is killed. Do you thing the next government would be any better?

So, Obama is just as certain as Bush was. https://www.cia.gov/library/reports/general-reports-1/iraq_wmd/Iraq_Oct_2002.htm

What some can't seem to get is that it may very well be true that Assad used CM's. But this time I think we all should agree that we need to be 100% positive. Even if it turns out Assad was responsible, we need to make sure we are doing the right thing. I don't envy Obama, this is a very tough call. Making hollow threats is not a good strategy.

Who is "we"? You and GM?... LOL. Please present us with some proof other than "Obama said so".

Multiple stabbings of 'students' in high school
Gravitymaster replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree. I can't see how anyone could read anything racial into that article unless they were looking for it. My thoughts as I read it were that if someone is intent on killing, they will find whatever means necessary to accomplish their goal. Be it with a knife, gun, lead pipe or other means of causing harm. I think this article has exposed what I suspect is a psychosis that causes many to see things that simply are not there. I am also appalled at the PA's against the OP without even a warning. -
Despicable. Seriously!

What a pussy Castro was. He couldn't even take 30 days of what his victims endured for 10 years.
-
We didn't hang out with bully's. if one was causing problems, the parents would be made aware and they would deal with him. Where I grew up, parents didn't tolorate their kids being bullies. Or we would all gang up on him and kick his ass.
-
More like he'd chase you down and tackle you and maybe punch you in the arm and chest a few times. Heck, sometimes you would even get a bruise or two. Today, you would end up in councelling and probably be put on ritilan for the same behavior.
-
We can not tolerate, intolerance.
-
Yep, I remember when you could push another kid in the water just for fun without having to worry about being sued and arrested for assault.
-
Late term abortion.
-
At least his now victims can have some degree of closure without having to spend the next 30 years worrying that some slickee boy lawyer will get him out on a technicality.

Agree with that, and with drug companies being able to advertise directly. However, consider that before, some victimized people really just had to take it. And don't even try to say that no one was victimized -- consider the fate of minorities in majority neighborhoods, of poor people in rich neighborhoods, and of homeless nearly everywhere. The law does need to enforce the law, and not politeness. I'm not sure how we can get back to where politeness matters, too, when everyone is standing on their rights. But before railing on this topic, consider something important to each of you (guns? gay marriage? abortion?) and whether you'd be willing to be impolite to get your point across. Then consider that there are 300 million people in the country, each one of whom thinks their opinion matters, too. Wendy P. My doctor told me that with the drug companies advertising on t.v., he gets more of his patients telling him they need this or that drug. Agreed, the laws do need to be enforced but I believe, the laws and rights get stretched and twisted, just a bit at times. I would like to think that one can defend their position without anger or bullying but reality tells me that that isn't always the case. People get real serious about their cause. I believe the 'it's all about me' attitude in our society has certainly changed things. Chuck Comes from the Internet, too. My doctor told me he gets patients coming in with their self diagnoses they got from the Internet. Said some come in with print outs from medical websites. It's really a shame that our society has developed such a hard edge. This used to be a fun country to live in. We used to play in the creek when we were kids and our parents never used to worry about us being shot, sexually molested, or kidnapped.
-
Yes, because bombing has worked out so well to create a positive outcome in Libya.
-
In our 'lottery' society, that is a strong possibility! Chuck Used to be that if you were tresspassing and were injured, you got called a dumbass and learned a painful lesson. Of course, that was before the filthy, greasy, lawyers gained their current level of power in our society. This land owner likely felt the need to protect himself from the vultures.
