So when I started jumping I was terrified.. asking myself.. what the fuck are you doing here? Why are you on this plane? the same struggle I think lots of you have had. Now it's like driving a car.. how I was terrified at first now it is business as usual. Is this bad? It seems odd that I went out on a saturday and jumped and was terrified and considered quitting for weeks because it just wasnt fun... then did another jump later that day at the request of a friend and all of the fear/terror/uneasy was gone. It was this dive I realized all along what the instructors meant by "relax". I still fly with my head on a swivel but I wonder now.. Is this dangerous? i was told early on if you aren't terrified you shouldn't be jumping. Just kind of weird to me that I could be shitting my pants (so to speak) on one dive then half an hour later all of that be gone. - Not to say my breathing and heart rate doesnt increase when the door opens... Anyway is this normal? do the exp jumpers here treat it like another day at the office? Is this bad? Millions of my potential children died on your daughters' face last night.

As someone said before after I had this dream about a dirt buffet i went and jumped.. my chix thought I was insane but I told her "sooner or later I will have a mal.. could be this jump could be 100 from now but the dream and worrying won't stop it from happening." So.. I did my first AFF jump when i was 18 for a birthday present using an older model rig that used a spring loaded pilot chute im assuming and the ripcord. I remember being told "If you drop it you bought it" so I held on to the cord.. 7 years later I do aff1 at skydive city and come pull time.. throw my pilot chute and hang on to it... TK ever so helpful took it from my hand. (I have video of this if anyone would like to see) 1 other I can think of.. my first jump with a full face helmet.. green light is on im next and think.. oh shit "i've forgotten something" rig- check, alti- check id gotten so used to walking to the plane with goggles that i thought i'd forgotten something. probably, i found it to be really loose when i got on the ground.. now i always compare to several others on the ride up and also mark where the clouds are when we pass them

So this person I know whom I've never known to make up stupid bullshit told me she saw some documentary on the science channel talking about risk takers and skydivers in particular. This documentary went on to say that studies have shown people who skydive and participate in very high risk activities are genetically mutated in some form or have a chemical imbalance in their brain. I did not see this for myself. Anyone else see this or have any input? If this is true... maybe we should start our own race. Ok so this one is likely to get ugly. A month or so ago I made a jump with Randy Lopez at skydive city. I'd asked for video because I have no tunnel time and wanted to see how my body position was etc. We completed the skydive and once on the ground he asked what happened to break off. I told him I had done as planned break at 6 and open at 5 .. his response being "I pitched at 3 and you were still going" So apparently at 3,000 i and turned and tracked away then opened.. My altimeter was fine in the plane and read about 13,200 when we made our exit and i checked it several times through the skydive so I had altitude awareness. Has this happened to anyone? When I really think about it now I was very close to becoming a dent in the ground and figure I must of opened around 1200 ft or so. My alti read between 2000 and 2100 ft when I was on the ground. So a few weeks ago I had this.. nightmare I guess you could call it... I was skydiving frefall everything went fine.. I deployed and my pilot chute came through my harness just under the cut-away handle... in this dream i tried to clear it knowing if i deployed my reserve it would just tangle and make a bad sitation worse.. I hit the ground before i could clear the mal and woke up in a cold sweat.. Is this weird? Anyone else have experience like this? I grew up in a several small towns in east texas called Canton, winnsboro. and mount vernon. Dunno if anyone has ever heard of any of them. Canton has the "First Monday Trade Days"... supposed to be the largest flea market in the world. I do not have any pictures readily available but if interested you could probably find something on flickr. The towns usually had no more than 2200 people, 2 of the 3 were the county seat with the court house square.. family owned businesses everybody knows everybody type stuff.. Niiice... When I worked for the fire department I used to back my truck in to my space.. one morning the guys tied a box with "free kittens" written all over it to my trailer hitch.. I was maybe 1/4 mile down the road and got pulled over by a deputy... We also put seran wrap over the toilet bowl, took the tires off of someone's car and hoisted them to the roof leaving thier car on blocks.. and I personally sat outside almost all night one night during freezing weather coating someone's car with water so they could not get the door open... knowing they had jury duty at 8am Millions of my potential children died on your daughters' face last night.
