  1. Just in case you're talking about me for getting into skydiving and wanting to post my vids because I'm proud of what I did....then fuck you, you don't even know me, who are you to judge people by what kind of music they put in their vids?????????????? If you're not talking about me then disregard this message and blue skies to you. "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  2. Yes it was covered but there is a lot of information to absorb. So when it actually happened I knew I still had altitude to try and fix the issue and then I was seconds from implementing emergency procedures when radio noticed i wasn't making the desired left turn. In my slideshow of the jump that I posted, you can somewhat see me spinning in the first two canopy pics. Someone on the ground thought they heard my screaming...lol "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  3. Thanks for the replies. I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, it's a Monday, what do you expect? lol Yeah it def wasn't a major issue but being that it was only my 6th jump, 3rd solo, it made me realize that I can react to a situation in the air. 4. They were velcro toggles and the whole thing gave me a scare but looking back, I smack myself for not realizing what the problem was. "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  5. User DVD Decryptor in "IFO" mode to rip the dvd into one VOB. You can then import the vob into something like auto gk to convert to an avi file. Works great! Ah ha...a clue. THANK YOU! 6. I didn't think this was signifigant enough for the Incidents thread and I mentioned it in my AFF thread BUT I thought a separate thread so that maybe others who had something similar could comment... So my AFF 3 went good-was my release dive and felt awesome. Pulled by 4,000 and right as my canopy opens I look up about to do my check when I start spinning right and it was only getting faster. I didn't want to mess with too much because I was afraid it might make things worse. I pulled with my risers and heard on the radio to turn left, this was before he knew i had a problem, and i'm screaming "I CANT!! I CANT STOP SPINNING!" and I looked at my alti...about right under 3k, was going to cut away but then i heard on th radio that he could see i was in a situation and told me to flare the parachute so I did and suddenly I was flying normal. It scared me but I kept my cool and alti aware for the most part. I don't blame anyone except me for not trying to flare earlier but like I said, I didnt know what was wrong and didn't want to make things worse. That's my story and it can be confirmed by peregrinerose...Live and learn. Anyone have something similar while a student? 7. Thanks Jen, you've been a great coach. Time to look at what I can pawn for money so that I can jump again..it's worth every penny to me. I'll eventually buy todays jump from Chris because he said he keeps them. I actually dont recall him even being in the air cause I was so focused on my skydive but he showed me the vid and you can see how you stayed close to make sure i was ok on my own. I vaguely remember Theresa fly in front slightly to the right. I have relived the jump over and over in my head, what an awesome skydive we had. I can't wait for AFF 4! 8. I COMPLETED AFF 3 TODAY! I ALSO HAD MY FIRST "OH SHIT" MOMENT! My AFF went awesome today and I had a blast. My insturctors are awesome and the weather was great. The skydive went as follow: little delay standing on the wing during my hotel check waiting for a good spot, kept my patience and waited for the ok and off we went, good exit, good alti awareness, had a few straighten leg hand signals, did forward movement, good solo pull then the OH SHIT moment....opened with a premature brake release and I started spinning right before I could even do a canopy control check, I screamed a little because the guy on the radio was telling me to make a left turn and I was screaming "I CANT! I CANT! I CANT STOP!! I CANT STOP!!" i pulled on my risers and looked for anything wrong and was contemplating cutting away and pulling my reserve when finally the radio said "Pull both brakes, flare your brakes!" so I did and all of a sudden I was fine, everything was ok, I did some turns, flare but whew...another 5 seconds maybe and I would of cut away. I know it wasn't a major problem looking back on it and it actually built up my confidence to know that I could react under a situation in the air. Then the only other bad part was my landing...stuck my legs out in front of me and was focused on the ground when I should have kept my legs under me and looked out about 45 degrees. I passed AFF 3 and I got a lot of good words from my insturctors and everyone at the DZ and that made me feel pretty good. No more two instructors!!! AFF 4 is next... I made a slideshow of the jump that I will post/edit in here shortly. **Edit-Here is the link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W22TcGsx8Ns "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  9. I saw the most beautiful skydiver chick in a short documentary about Skydive Taft that I found on skydivingmovies.com. She is the one with the yellow and black...pretty sure it's the same person who posted some pics on here a while back, if you do your research, you'll see...just my two cents...and I could be wrong btw "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  10. Are you still going to be at the DZ on Sunday morning at 9am when I'm coming to do AFF 3??? "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  11. "Echoes" for sure "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  12. Ok so I got my DVD of my first AFF jump only to find out that the camera guy missed my landing...=/ and for some reason I couldn't get the entire vid on youtube without putting it through this movie editing program. So it's not every second of the jump but most of it and it gives you an idea. I'll eventually find a way to get the entire original thing up, until then, here it is....feel free to leave comments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWBWKxrZLVE *If anyone knows how to combine about 5 separate VOB files into 1 file(in order) and then post on youtube, please PM me and tell me how. Thanks. "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  13. COMPLETED AFF 2 TODAY!! This time the exit was nice, quick, and smooth, good arch, practice touches, good 90 degree turns and then when it came time to pull, I waved off at 5k but couldn't find the hacky, and according to my instructor after we landed, apparently my hacky got moved to some odd position making it not be where I thought it would be, anyways, I managed to pull right before my instructor would have done it for me. Good opening, BEAUTIFUL canopy ride, clear blue skies, warm weather. I followed a good flight plan and holding pattern with absolutely no assistance until about 1,300ft. My landing approach was good but when I landed, I tried walking it out instead of PLFing like I did yesterday and ended up more or less kind of hopping and landing on my ass but no injuries, all is good. There was some excitement then when I was taking too long to get the air out of the chute and carry it back...the plane was coming down the grass runway right towards me lol luckily I was closer to the edge and he was at the end when I noticed him. Next time I'll remember to clear the runway first if I land there. I enjoyed this jump a lot more than AFF 1 and it felt a lot better too. I passed and now on to AFF 3 where hopefully I get released during freefall and get to show what I've learned. I await your input Jen... 14. I DID IT!!!!!! I COMPLETED MY FIRST AFF TODAY AND PASSED!!! I got video but it's still being edited so I'll post once it's done. We had a little bit of a sloppy exit and then once it came close to pull time, my one instructor wasn't sure if I was paying attention to my altimeter so right as she points for me to pull, I'm looking at my altimer and of course pulled right away. The canopy ride was a lot of fun and the landing was perfect and I could of walked it out but I PLFd =) I'm so excited that it finally happened and I can't wait for AFF 2 tomorrow!! 15. Hey Jen, me and you are supposed to be jumping tomorrow! Pray for no rain!! I did my initial AFF training on 4/20, it's been over a month now! Let's hope my luck changes this weekend... Anyways, welcome to the forums Gerry, hope to see you at the DZ this weekend! "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  16. Agreed =) "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  17. Well first of all, you just said "skydiving" and as I stated...I've gone skydiving. Weather I was strapped to someone, by myself, or strapped to an elephant, I jumped out of a plane and landed safely on the ground under an open canopy...therefore I went skydiving, therefore I'm correct in my response lol I'm not afraid of skydiving if that's what you're implying. I'm not afraid of death either. I will live my life how I want and when a higher power wants me, however it happens, it will take me. If you live your life without having taken any risks, have you truly lived at all? 18. I'm not an expert by any means but I've done tandems and this is a pretty simple question. At your height/weight, there should be no problem at all for you to do a tandem skydive. My advice: have fun.
  19. I've already gone skydiving... "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  20. Yeah... I too am sorry for not thinking of it first. I'm interested to know what theydid to it to fashion it into a bong, LMAO "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  21. I just want to say that the reason I never discuss politics with people is because there is ALWAYS someone who thinks they have a better answer/view than you do. This thread and others like it prove my point. Thank you for your time and please continue with the political bickering. 22. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.... No but seriously, I used my military ID and got my fishing license for dirt cheap "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  23. LOL "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  24. All you have to do is go here to find out exactly when you're supposed to get it. You're welcome http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html therefore according to the site, and responding to the original post, since May 2nd isn't over yet, I'd give it until midnight =) "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci
  25. No one has to guess this one, I'm just adding it so we have more boobs in this thread I don't know everyone enough to guess boobs but just like I've already contributed beer to my home DZ, I must contribute boobs to this DZ, enjoy!
