    no jump weekend

Lesson Learned: If you're a skydiver, and a pilot, and you want to keep jumping, fer fucks sake keep it a secret that your a pilot.
  3. I want to thank my IAF instructor, my family.....
  4. You can use the text box that you see in the opera screenshot by clicking switch to basic mode, or advanced mode or something like that around the editor box -- Hook high, flare on time
  5. Sweet video -- Hook high, flare on time
  6. http://www.kurupee.com/ Yeah, I just saw some of the suits two weeks ago, they look really good so far as quality and stuff. The people there are really cool too, they will do any type of design you want and are very personable to talk to. -- Hook high, flare on time
  7. I would guess it is to attach the slider to your jumpsuit/container to help keep it down after collapsing and stowing it. -- Hook high, flare on time

    Freefly suits

Awesome looking suit Ann, I'm interested in seeing the leather one too. The Kurupee dudes have a few new ideas they are working on too. Cute picture of the dog, is that the infamous Levin in in the second picture? -- Hook high, flare on time

    happy hour???

no difference on my side, I'm a lame computer user though. Will try to remember that for the future -- Hook high, flare on time
  11. Ah, the memories, skydiving is something I've wanted to do for a long long time, but it is something I have never been able to justify doing. I remember December 22, 2001, I was hired as a diverdriver for a local DZ, 8 days later on December 30, 2001 (it's a weekend only DZ) I made my first tandem with the rationalization that if I'm flying jumpers I should understand things from their perspective. I still remember the door opening, and me freaking out thinking I was going to fall out, until I realized that that was the entire point. I got down from that first jump and immediately signed up for the IAF program (3 tandems + 7 1 instructor jumps.) Now our DZ lives by the motto that the best way to screw up a jump pilot is to get him jumping.
  12. Sounds good, thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed answer. It seems like for real BASE, aside from the extra time spent packing, a lot of time is probably spent on gear set up changes (steering line routing, slider adding/removal.) Interesting stuff -- Hook high, flare on time
  13. Yeah, thinking of what I would do with the money after I started skydiving my first thought was to buy a DZ. Now after being around for a (very) little bit, I have decided that I would much rather buy a perpetual jump ticket, or a bunch of jump tickets plus a semi fast airplane. I think it's more trouble than it's worth to own a DZ or plane, unless you were to own a specialty aircraft that would be suitable for touring DZ's, aka Mullins King Air -- Hook high, flare on time

  16. How would not having a cameye make you "better off"? It gives a clear indication of what your camera is doing, it allows you to control your camera with one button that you can mount in any spot you like, and it warns you when you are running low on tape or battery. Why would you not want one? Does your friend possibly have a camera without a lanc port? I know some people at my dz that have JVC or Panasonic cameras that do not have lanc ports and they can't use the cameye because of it. Bummer. Eh, to clarify, it was a guy who does not speak english as a primary language, this is a quote of the email that was exchanged: "but, my suggest: you dont need the cameye..." there wasn't really any more that could be counted as context clues included with it. I guess I'll email him back and try to get a clarification of his perspective from him, and see if there might be something to share. I was planning on getting a Cameye anyway, just because I am overly paranoid, and would like the reassurance of the visual indicator. I just wasn't sure if the no Cameye opinion might be more popular than I had thought. -- Hook high, flare on time
  17. Holy crap Tom, Thanks mucho for uploading the realtime video. I don't think I would have been able to deal with that so well. Nice work on the single handed line chop. Out of curiousity, I'm not at all familiar with BASE rigging, (only experience is leaving the slider down on a sport rig .) Don't BASE'rs do something different to the steering lines, like route them outside the slider/guide rings or something like that? -- Hook high, flare on time
  18. Ahhhh, I see now. I didn't look closely before, I was just thinking he would be one of the 'interesting' people to meet(avoid), but looking back now I see that's Nolte's mugshot... doh...
  19. Not sure yet, I've been slacking on figuring out when the boogie is happening and everybody is going so I haven't looked into tickets yet. Viva la California!
  20. Hook me up with some Shiner Bock. Jess brought some to OH for Memorial day, some good shit. Ooh, I also haven't had Arrogant Bastard Ale for a few years. -- Hook high, flare on time
  21. LALALA, I can't hear you... Seriously though, don't make me think about how much I'm spending on this lifestyle.
  22. I was recently talking to somebody about adding a Cameye to my helmet, and it was suggested that I don't really need one (read: He doesn't use one, and thinks he's better off for it.) So, as it is now I guess I'm going to try playing with the camera without one for awhile to see if I can get a good routine going for turning on/hitting record without the aid of the visual light. Any tips from those jumping without one would be appreciated. I'm going to be shooting Freefly mostly, and maybe tandem when I get more experience with the camera.1 -- Hook high, flare on time
