Dude, there's a (*gulp* democratic) process by which parents can effect change in school curricula, and that's through the school board. If enough parents back up a change, and the board doesn't act upon it, then some board members will be replaced in the next election. If a parent took such a dispute to court, I'd personally fling poo at them. EDIT: Clarification of vague pronoun.

I tend to separate action from the individual.
-
That would be a big, "touche;" however, the court was not at all dictating what should or shouldn't be taught. But you can try believing that; I won't think any different of you.

Local school boards, with state guidelines. plus the input from parents that actually take the time to attend the planning meetings (rather that bitch about it after the fact) Eck-fucking-zactly.

Crowlification, crowlificating, or just plain crowleying a subject is to "to make an equally absurd or humorous statement in response to a conflicting point of view which the reader considers total bollocks and has no redeeming content with which to facilitate a reasonable or rational dialogue" also see: discrowlification: having to explain in painstaking detail the initial crowlification of the subject matter. Paypal is accepted. We have a winner! But fuck Paypal. It sucks.

"Who's that tripping across my bridge?"
-
No, not a song. Just an observation.

Psst: Poseidon and Zeus are the Greek names. They were originally angry with Prometheus for the whole fire debacle. He got the liver-eating vulture treatment, and man got Pandora and her box, which fucked things up so much they decided to start over. Hence the flood. *swoooooooooooooooooooooon*

To love, it is naivety. To scorn, it is power.

Role reversal. Ask him how he'd feel if you were constantly pushing atheism on him (in the same way that he is doing to you), and how it would impact your relationship.

You never heard of Jesus Juice? I haven't owned a television set since 1958.

I thought this was gonna be more along the lines of "Baby Batter." *sigh*

What right did they trump?
-
Correct, in my opinion. From a legal perspective (in simple terms), the school's gonna teach whatever the board has determined the school's gonna teach, which is not only influenced by state and federal fundage, but also by local constituents. Long story short, if you wish for change in the curriculum, you need to go to the board. From a practical perspective, imagine the precedent this would set if they had ruled otherwise: parents (at the individual level) with free reign over custom curriculum adjustments (think contraversial subjects such as religion, science, even some aspects of social studies!) for their own kids. Chaos. Yikes!

There we go. That's better. Now, *that* is a generalization I can agree with!

You know when you don't get a joke, and the guy who told you said joke has to explain it to you, and then you go, "Ahhh, now I get it," and then he is left shaking his head? *sigh* I was focusing on the issue -- particularly on the sheer ridiculousness of Channman's post. Sometimes it's easier to understand when presented with something equally ridiculous (10 pts. to anyone who can name the term) regarding something that hits closer to home than it is to have it thoroughly and loquaciously explained in viciously verbose detail. *shaking head*

Yes, Happy Birthday, indeed. Time to celebrate... with an updated curriculum.

I swear this must be the most remixed track of all time... even moreso than ATB's 9pm Til I Come. I'm gonna give Taylor a swift kick to the nads next time I see him -- Jenn's no longer managing him, so I've got free reign. Whilst I'm at it, BonJoviHairDo-Brian's next.

No.

Does that mean the damn niggers are more violent than towelhead Allah lovers? (Disclaimer: Excessive use of racial slurs and broad generalizations intended as hyperbole.)
