WHOOHOO!! NO SPINNING!! LVL 1 (&2) complete
jmar595 replied to KevinP's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Congrats and good luck on the rest. By the way, where are you jumping at? -
Where do you find altimeters for that? That is a good deal.
-
Congrats man! Good stuff! I went yesterday too. I was able to do 3 jumps so I will be doing level 5 next. It is ALOT harder to manuveur on your own than one would think. Overall I did good. I do need to get a better arch, dont think that will ever hurt. Good times, and blue skies to all!
-
Sweet deal. How much was all your gear, and where did you get it? Its almost Sunday!!!
-
What DZ has the most jumpable days/year?
-
Good stuff! Glad you came out of it ok, everyone was pretty unstable for a bit. I noticed they pulled the first time you were level. Good learning experience. Cant wait till Sunday, Saturday is gonna be pretty wet, BOO!! So, here's wishing blue skies and low winds on Sunday!!

Thank you all, that is very helpful. I cant seem to find many used systems with a little bigger chutes though. They all seem to be mid 100's. I am going to jump a navigator 290. What would be a good size to start with?
-
I am new to this. How can you cut away your reserve? Are there rigs out there with more than 2 chutes?
-
This question has probabally been asked many times, but here goes again. Does anyone know of a good source for starting out in the skydiving world? Goggles,, hemets, alt., jumpsuits, and 1st rigs? Thanks all for any help.

Ya, I did see that video, even before you mentioned it. That was you? Looks like one wild ride there. What were the instructors like after you landed? It's a good journey though isnt it. How many jumps do you have now? I cant wait to go more. Thanks for the info on the chutingstar, will check it out it a bit.

Will defineately remember to ARCH!! They drilled that in previously. I am glad I did the packing class. The guy was just very suprised I picked it up that easily. I will still make sure to get help for a while to make sure I do it correctly and dont form any bad packing habits. We did a flat pack which is really not that difficult, mainly making sure you follow the right order and keep it all tidey. I hope this weekend is good weather. I will be wishing good weather for you all covered in snow. I cant wait to do it more. Now to find a good place for gear, need goggles, helmet, jumpsuit...rig Good times! Blue skies all!

Ok, went to the DZ today. Didnt get to jump, but went through ground school. I will do a lv2 jump and I got some packing instruction in. I got signed off on packing on my 2nd pack job. Thank you for the welcome, it is defineately nice to be back. Also, thanks for the link, good stuff and that is what I aspire to be someday. Hopefully weather will be better next weekend! Blue, unwindy skies!

I just had a son born 10 days ago. I wanted to get life insurance before he came, but I'm a bad procrastinator. Anyway, I just got a quote and they asked if I had ever went skydiving or planned to go, not gonna lie, so I told them ya twice and plan to go more. That adds $2500 more a year because of that. Where is a good place for life insurance that won't guage you for this?
-
I'll ask him at the end of the month when I go again.
-
Got a boy on the way. I'll see him around September.
-
I just did the ground school and my first jump. It was defineately more than I thought, but wouldn't say it was hard. I did botch my practice pulls with the shear reality of what was happening and failing to remember the sign for practice touches.
-
I finally got to go. I went to Oklahoma Skydiving center and jumped Saturday. I went through AFF. They did a VERY good job there. Thanks WAZ. MAN, that was sweet. Like a dream. I did a good arch they said, but I didn't get my practice touches in, when they gave me the sign for it I could not remember it. I was trying to remember when they gave me the sign to pull, looked at the alt. 6000, 5500 okay wave off. Oh, heah I didn't ever do practice touches as I had my hand on the rip[ cord. Too late, the instuctor pulled it and they kept falling. OUCH!!! Those straps hurt all the way down. Did good flying the canopy and flared slid a little and my feet slid forward and down on my butt I went. That was awesome, but it was like a dream the whole time. I got out on the strut to jump. Okay, 1, 2, 3, Fuck, I just stepped off an airplane and now I am falling. The reality and everything got to me and I forgot the signs. They said things slow down a bit the more you go, seemed like freefall only lasted 10 seconds or so. I do burn a good hole through the sky. Can't wait to get the video so I can see my face when he gave me the sign, I went from hell yeah to what the fuck pretty quick. Can't wait to go again, I will do much better next time. That first time is a real eye opener, I have never felt all my senses so alive before, that's why I think it was so dream like. Blue skies to all, I am now on my way.

Why booo on me for that? I want to know who it is and get things ready for him. What is the problem in that. And with the picture I have I really doubt it will be a girl. I would be fine with that too, my wife REALLY wanted a girl. I don't see why people get upset about this. I think I found his name. Jesse

That is jacked up. WOW!!! Just 2 weeks left to go. Been wanting to do this since I was 13.
-
I found out Friday that I am going to have a son. Now to find a name. It is hard with my short last name. He is due September 19th. Man,, I'm so stoked. Got so much to do before he getts here. I am going to do my first jump at the beginning of next month. Stoke dabout that too. Does anyone hangglide? I am thinking about doing that also.

Want to skydive, having trouble finding DZ
jmar595 replied to B1029384756's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Drop the weight. O want this really badly too. I started at a little over 265, I've lost 19 lbs. in 3 weeks. Just start eating right and running and working out. If you really want it you will have the motivation to do it. I kep watching videos on here helps me keep focus. Also, I really recommend running to drop the weight faster, and there is a big difference in how you feel when you start running. Good luck and make some attainable goals and go skydiving. I am planning to go at the end of April.
