Popsjumper, One thing that is for sure in life is that it is impossible to walk in someone's elses shoes. So unless you have had a parent threaten and/or commit suicide, you have no idea what it's like. I grew-up with my mom experiencing depression that gradually became very severe. This depression lead her to make several poorly executed atttempts at it while I was around. Each time she did this it was slightly more traumatising than what I was already going through because she was drunk. Further, shs many times threatened to shoot herself with my step dad's 357. These incidents were the worst. You have no fucking idea what its like to have you mom who is already screwed up because she was stupid drunk, arguing and fighting with anyone, get the gun and go outside with it threatening to kill herself. To top it off try this when you are 10 years old. My step-dad did what he thought was right and called her bluff, basically calling her a coward to diffuse the situation. This method made these incidents even more scary. Now, I agree with suicide when you have a terminal illness. But when you have minor childern, you need to at least try and get help. A parent that commits suicide or even threatens, cause a lot of problems with their childern. My mom eventually did commit suicide when she O/D'd on her boyfriend's perscription drugs. When she did, I was 27. By then, I was conditioned to the point that I knew that I could loose her, and as a result we were not very close. Also, when she did die, I felt that this may have been best because she was finally free from her pain. Of course, by then being a bit wiser, I felt that she should have the right to die, especially because by then I was no longer a dependent of her's.

Also, what would you girls do? Stuff socks in the front?

This version is better for you all. http://www.webundies.com/wonder_woman.htm There is something wrong with a "Man's version" of Wonder woman's underwear.

Yea, maybe they are trying to tease the mods that may have an itchy finger hovering over the lock button.

If somebody wanted to become a troll, then this thread is sure good material to learn how to stir the pot. It seems to me that things are snowballing and building on each other. Anybody want to take bets on the final post number before the lock is applied?

Yup.. and the percentage of women in the sport is fairly small..... and a lot of us could be construed as being fat by many of the younger male community who base everrything on looks. At 5'6" and currently 143 pounds, I'm considered a heifer by some.... I think he is feeling that he is not only in the bonfire forum, but in the bonfire, tied to a stake. He is sure paying for that other thread. You'r no Heifer, but I wonder how long our resident bovine lover will take to notice your description. She may be turned on.

I think it is all good advice that I wish more people would follow. Whenever I have been on business trips overseas with co-workers, sometimes I feel like saying "I'm not with them or I don't know those people." This is especially after dinner and they have had too much to drink. -
The head down scene is fun!!! Yes! But, even though the self-packing rigs are nice, you would think that 200 years from now they would have better canopies than we have and helmet visors that don't fog up in the plane!

For those that think the use of modern day items in the movie was dumb: I think that it was good that they had items in the movie that is similar to modern day items. It keeps the movie from becoming too far-fetched. Also, chances are many things we use today will not change much in 200 years. Some things are good enough to stand the test of time without drastic changes to their design. Someone said that the ship was being built in an oil refinery. My guess was a steam power plant. There was a cooling tower shown in one scene. I think cooling towers will still be used 200 years from now, because they work well. So, again I don't think it was a stretch. I think the skydiving scene was too "hollywoodized". I would be surprised that even with 23rd century technology that people would be jumping rigs without a cutaway system and a reserve. Their canopy tech sure sucks. Today's canopies are better than what they have, but the push-button repack feature sure is nice. Maybe when they are making the Vector LXVII or the Mirage G-62 you can get a reserve and cutaway system still as an option. Also, you would think by then, they would have helmet visors that did not fog up before your exit.

>My biggest fear is if I broke down at dark in the middle of no where. While you can't prevent that 100%, knowing what's about to go wrong (by better understanding the car) and good maintenance can greatly reduce the chances of that. By far the biggest cause of that will be a dead battery, so battery replacement and/or a solar battery maintainer or jumpstarter will go a long way. Yes, batteries can get you, but as long as you start off with buying a top quality battery, and replacing it at least every 4 to 5 years you will be ok. An original battery may not even last that long. Also if you run the battery flat dead by leaving the lights on, you shorten the life by 10% or more per incident. Solar chargers don't do you any good unless the vehicle is unused for 30 days or more or if you have a load drawing current from the battery when the engine is stopped. Save your money for a better battery. The most important part of battery maintenance is to peridoically disconnect the battery and clean the terminals with a wire brush and making sure all of the connections are tight. If you don't do this you it will bite you in the ass at a bad time. Jeff

I'v seen their videos before, but not this one. All of their videos are good. I wonder if they are a real couple.

Well almost true. We stopped eating horses when we learned how to ride them and use them for chasing other animals down. People don't usually eat their hunting partner. Then we learned that they are an advantage to have if you are at war. People needed horses to save their own asses.

Congradulations. Be Safe. Stay away from the little men (in the freezer) or you will not be needing that weight belt.

I think when people make their 1,000th and 10,000th posts here they should be pied the next time they set foot on a DZ or when they least expect it.

My company has sent many out for Hazwoper training and has always paid them. We are in Ca. The only thing that may make a difference if that we have a union there. I suspect that if this training is to allow you to do something part of your job, then they must pay you to go. Also, by you going and getting the training, you are fulfilling regulatory requirements for the company. So, by you not having the training, the company could get busted by CalOSHA, Ca DTSC, and Fed EPA. Maybe even Fed DOT. Who ever does not want to pay you has no idea how bad those agencies can make their life if they decide to open a fresh can of "whoop ass".

I wonder where it is. Look at all the stuff on the bulkhead: Altimeter, Aerial Photo, a bunch of other stuff and a sign requiring shoes!

Hey mister, You are saying something that is considered really bad here in the US. I am assuming that you just made a culture mistake and are not trying to get people upset with your comment. I know that eating horse meat is OK in your country, but here it is taboo. It is as bad as eating cat or dog meat. It is not because there is the idea that something is bad with the meat, but it is because horses here are held in high regard and respected. They may have 4 legs and hooves like cows do, but horses are not held in the same category here in the US. Many can argue that they are not livestock. Some people in the US hold horses in higher regard than any other animal. Jeff

I heard a rumor that they were picked off like they were part of a "smash the mole" game. One pirate stuck his head out and was shot. Then, another stuck his head out to see where it came from and was shot. Then, another one still could not figure out what was going on and stuck his head out and was shot. These guys must have been about as sharp as a bowling ball. Well the one that survived must be the smart one because he did not stick his head out.

1. When you have a check engine light there is a problem with a corresponding trouble code that can tell you exactly what the problem is. From what I remember, Toyotas are set up to read out the trouble code by using the check engine light by flashing it in a pattern of flashes. The Pattern will give you the code number, which you can take and look up the description of the problem in a manual. 2. You can't just remove the bulb to pass a smog test!!!!!! The bulb must come on when the key is turned on then shut off or you will fail the smog test!!!! 3. If you want to clear the light and the code, you can safely do it like you originally described. If there is a real problem with a bad part, the light will eventually come back on. 4. The reason for connecting the battery cables together is that you are discharging the capacitor that is saving the computer's memory which holds the trouble code. 5. If you uncomfortable with working around the battery, you can also do the same thing by disconnecting the battery and then stepping on the brale pedal for a while (It may be longer than 10 sec.). 6. Don't just assume that it is the O2 sensor!!!!!!!! There are hundreds of codes possible. Find the code first!!!!! 7. If the code tells you that the O2 sensor is really bad, then change it!!!! A bad one will waste fuel. 8. Don't go to Pepboys. They are artists at trying to get your money and find "problems" that are not real. Jeff

So is there some truth to the story? I was wondering if his work was all made up or not.

You fell for it! I thought he must have been banned. I have not seen a post from him in a while. This guy is an expert at this. He goes back to times before DZ.com

How did you get that? Assumptions: 400 Amps 480 Volts .85 Power Factor .92 Motor Efficiency .7457 conversion kW to HP 400 A x 480 v x 1.73 / 1000= 332.16 (apparent kW) 332.16 x .85 x .92 / .7457 = 348 Shaft HP Edited to correct formula

Come on guys, you could not help him? Here is your dry reading assignment for the night. There will be a test on this.
