  1. well done buddy, im the same just finished AFF. those back loops are beauties.
  2. Welcome buddy. wait till u jump on your own its unreal. Dont waste your hard earned on another tandem, go for the AFF course. You wont regret it.
  3. Well done, i was so nervous on my stage 1 jump. After 20 jumps the nerves are starting to finally go. I know the dz wanted another $120 to film each aff jump so i didnt do it. What i did was ask one of the other fun jumpers who had a camera if he could film me and it only cost me the $35 jump ticket for him. Bargain. Its worth it.
  4. With gps s around how they missed it by 8 miles is beyond me.
  5. Welcome. i have just got my license and am having a ball. glad u are having fun. The chest strap one is a classic. Wait till u get your license and you can surf the skies on your own without an instructor yelling to "do this" and "go that way". Its awesome.
  6. stuff the 5k buddy. have a look on the classifieds section or ebay. i got a 91 model rig with only 120 jumps on it for $1000. jumped it on the weekend and its sweet. sure saves hiring the gear. cant disagree with you more buddy. in australia hire gear is $35 per jump. do that for 50 jumps and $1750 later you could have brought your own rig.
  7. Welcome buddy. How good is freefall hey. I am a beginner also and have just finished my AFF course. Its the best thing i have ever done. I have done 18 jumps in total and count down the days to the weekend every week. You wont regret doing the AFF course, its such a challenge and i feel that i really accomplished something. good luck .
  8. The guy does sound like a moron. In australia both neighbours have to pay 50/50 for a fence and i think that they can discuss the fence type. I am surprised that the dz cant go to court and try and have it changed and get the barb wire taken down. You would think any reasonable judge would allow this.
  9. Hi buddy. i too had trouble finding a mate who wanted to learn how to skydive as well. In reality in australia anyway 1 person in 10000 has a syydiving license, so there are not many of us around. I was happy to go on my own. It doesnt take long to make great friends at the dz. Its an awesome experience doing aff. good luck
  10. If the gear u are using is unfomfy try this. When my buddy told me this tip it changed my jumps completely. I used to be under canopy with my legs straight down and you could hold a straight edge down my back to the backs of my legs. Now as soon as i open i reach under my bum and pull the straps a few inches down the back of my legs and bend at the waist and kind of sit back in the harness. A bit like sitting in a chair. this takes the pressure off the straps from being in your crotch to the back of your legs which is alot more comfy. hope this helps.
  11. those plastic pro tech ones are crap if u ask me. No way i put my head in one of those. How much is your head worth?? i just brought cookie carbon fibre for $225.
  12. good post. i never knew this was possible. our student rigs are 240 also but i weight 90kgs though. a few weeks ago i did my stage 4 and the wind was a bit narly. the instructor said it was borderline and I was offered to do stage 5 and told the instructor that i like my ankles the way they are pointed now. So i went home. i am a experienced scuba diver also and some days you have to admit that the weather has beaten you. thats when the xbox gets turned on
  13. well done buddy, i am spewing. it took me 3 months to finish my aff due to a little plane, not enough instructors and poor organisation. how good was it hey. i am so hooked.
  14. great jump, i like that big plane. That jump probably just cost you 10 grand. but its all worth it.
  15. My piece of advice - Move back to australia.... lol
  16. well done, i did my first fun jump on the weekend. mad fun. dont waste your money hiring rigs. pick up a cheap one for around a grand and jump it. will save money in the long run.
  17. Hey Karen, welcome. I know how u feel. i have just finished my AFF course. Its so much fun doing the course. Very scary for me yet very satisfying when u pass a jump. the stage 1 jump was scary as for me. I did my first couple of fun jumps a few days ago and screamed like a school girl all the way down. I am so hooked and cant wait until sat to surf the skies on my own and not have to worry about the pressure of passing the aff jump. i put my stage 8 jump on the net if u are interested. good luck with the course. here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2xZhLk3jQA send me a msg if u have any questions about the course i will be glad to help out. i was on my own as well so dont feel bad. You know what its like a few of my mates all agreed to do the course but when it came down to it i was the only one to go through with it.
  18. Which audible should i buy? there are so many to choose from? thanks. i really need it for inside my helmet so i can hear the alarm during freefall. thinking of either neptune, pro track or the new neo xs.

    AFF

I was heaps excited about starting my aff. Cant say i couldnt sleep though. its unreal. good luck buddy.
  20. you can stick your crw work where the sun dont shine. My 2 princesses need a daddy to look after them.
  21. I just finished my AFF course. i failed stage 4 once and was determined to finish the course no matter what it took. i feel like i really accomplished something. It was a scary and fun couse at the same time. Its the best thing i have ever done apart from my 2 little babies. Buying a starting rig isnt that dear. I got a older rig that has only 120 jumps on it for $1300. Its not the newest rig at the dz but it will do me for a couple of hundred jumps and saves wasting money on hiring a rig.
  22. Well done buddy. i finished my stage 8 and 9 yesterday and am loving it. cant wait until next week when i can jump on my own and do whatever i like.
  23. I recently failed my stage 4 cause of a dodgie arch. As soon as i let go i concentrated on nothing else but pushing my hips towards the ground. i forgot about my arms and legs and they took care of themselves. good luck buddy. you will get there.
