Nice one! Don't worry about the PC, after a few more jumps you get to relax a bit more on deployment and you're not like "4.5k! OK, REACH, PULL", you can always fly it (deployment position) a little bit while you find your handle without stressing. Have fun on your release dive... the feeling of being in your OWN air column is amazing, the release dive is when skydiving really started for me... you will LOVE it

My 2nd AFF jump: PLF + photos.
Chubba replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nop, I'm a big wuss. Instead of trying to land in front of the hangar, I fly crosswind well clear of the treeline, then turn into the wind for a nice safe landing, no chance of overshooting and hitting the tree's. Here's an attached pic of my DZ with silly MS paint arrows to explain :) (don't mind that I'm flying over the runway ) -
My 2nd AFF jump: PLF + photos.

lol :) Nice AFF2, I landed 2 miles out of the dropzone in someones backyard on my AFF2 (radio fail and I hammered downwind). We often have to land into the treeline at our DZ, no overshoot area... I just typically fly crosswind and stay really far from them before I turn into the wind at a low height. I'm never on target when I have to land facing the tree's, but it's better to be safe then sorry. -
Just do your AFF straight up if possible, no need to mess around with the tandem if you want to become a skydiver. Skysurfing hey you got a long road ahead, all the more reason to start your training asap.

...and another one is hooked Enjoy your AFF training, each jump is better then the last.

Our dropzone is a single Cessna 182 that's very relaxed, we get 5 loads on a weekday, 6 - 7 on a Saturday/Sunday. So everyones best bet is 3 - 4 loads if they hang around bugging the DZO and there's no students. Yeah there's a lot of waiting around, but I like chilling in the hangar talking to everyone, my knee's/ankles can only handle 2 - 3 jumps a day.

1.) What made you want to go skydiving >I was depressed and thought "what the hell"... seriously. 2.) What did you feel prior to jumping out of the plane >Like I was about to do some public speaking, terrible feeling, anxiety++, just a sickening feeling in the gut. 3.) What was the free-fall like >Wind, wind and more wind... and noise. Did I mention wind? 4.) When you touched down how did you feel >Confused, trying to make sense of wtf just happened 5.) Anything else you want to say about skydiving >I like it

The Nevis Bungy in NZ has a semi-glass bottom, it's absolutely badass. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/138/337840085_c7cc963b31.jpg?v=0

How many people think swooping is stupid or boring?
Chubba replied to blagogada's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think swooping is very exciting to watch. Would I ever do it? No way in hell.. I got terrible knee's and ankles that have been through surgery dozens of times. So I'll stick to spectating -
I thought the new Cypres2 doesn't require you to ever send it in? Isn't it like 12.5 years, no batt changes etc.?
-
I don't think you would want to start at 13 even if you could I still think 18 is the best age if you're keen... you're an adult, you're out of school, you got SOME life experience and you can legally buy the beer

I don't even give a thought to the AAD, I just turn it on from habit and it never enters my mind. I doesn't reassure me of anything and I don't actually ever think "well at least I got an AAD", I don't even remember my rig has one when I'm jumping. So perhaps one day it might save me, but till then it's like it doesn't exist.
-
Yep, "E" License, 500 jumps, straight from the APF website: I think 500 jumps is a reasonable level to be able to decide whether or not to have an AAD... A license, definitely not. I don't know about the RSL though, if I had plenty of altitude I would probably want to go back into freefall... ahh well, 500 jumps, won't be making that decision anytime soon.

I just jump in my Asics Gels, really good running shoe. Then I strap my ankles for extra protection. You guys are crazy jumping in those Converse, 1 landing in those would snap my ankles in half I reckon... they're a dress shoe :)

Google Earth Drop Zone Project -- Ideas and Discussion
Chubba replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here's my contribution. Caboolture Skydive, little single Cessna 182 dropzone in Queensland, Australia. Shot from 10,000ft, our jump altitude. -
My life is pretty much the same. Except now I live in poverty all week to go jumping on the weekend. Plus my circle of friends is changing, so who knows.
-
Just try and get through your AFF before you run out of money IMO, think of gear later. I'm onto solo jumps + gear hire now and although they're still not cheap, I can at least get 1 jump in per week... it's enough to satisfy my cravings while I save up for my own equipment. AFF stages are just soo expensive, it's a pain having to wait multiple weeks between jumps.

Welcome to DZ.com

I don't really like that, it's a bit of a false sense of security. One of my AFFI's said to me "you're responsible for yourself up there... we try to help all we can, but in end it's your decision to jump from the aeroplane and you're responsibility to make sure you come down safely".

Wingsuit segment on 60 minutes (Australian TV)
Chubba replied to unclecharlie95's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Opps, didn't mean to open a can of worms Regardless, amazing scenery on that jump. I forced my dad to watch this 60 minutes segment when it aired (being Australian) and the 55yo bugger signed up for his AFF1 the next day... so perhaps it was a decent representation to the general public. -

Whats the deal with Jeb flying past that massive Jesus statue? How low is he deploying and what gear is he using? I'm assuming he jumped from a plane, are you allowed to do that? -
-VERY thin base -tomato sauce -fresh garlic (loads of) -fresh basil (loads of) -Mushrooms, mushrooms and more mushrooms. -REAL fresh mozzarella Cooked in an insanely hot woodfire oven really quickly.

Opinions on new jumper with digital altimeter?
Chubba replied to jrcolo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yep, I spent my last 3 solo's purely on altitude awareness... I like sitting next to the door in the Cessna and judging the height on the climb, and on the way down I always estimate my height before I look at the altimeter, great practice. -
Is this the worst AFF ever? Whats happened here ?
Chubba replied to humanflite's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Haha that's great, I couldn't stop laughing. I love at 1:55 where he goes to do a PRCP and it just doesn't work, ends up spinning on his back
