  1. Interested in hearing who lands with Rears and how. For the last 400+ jumps I've always pinched my rears between my thumb and finger and pulled down on my rears. Just took a coach course and it was suggested I push out on rears instead. Now obviously I trust this guy or I wouldn't have taken his course, just want to hear others opinions. And I'll leave his name out of it, so as not to scew anyones responses. Lets just say he's a top canopy pilot. Personally when I tried pushing out on rears (up high of course), there doesn't seem to be as much power in the rears using this technique. Granted I've only tried this several times vs 400 the old way.
  2. Dont feel bad you are right on target. It took me about 10 hours in the tunnel and I had 1300 Freefly jumps and many of them HD in the sky already. Its a different discipline and takes time and commitment to learn to fly in the tunnel.
  3. Dave DeWolf does some Freefly as well, but not sure of his age.
  4. My sentiments exaclty.......But Common Sense still has to prevail and that needs to come from those with more experience. There was this one guy at my DZ who was ignoring everyone's advice, and downsizing rapidly without the experience to support those decisions. I walked over to him while he was packing up his 1.6 loaded Crossfire 135 and started disconnecting his risers. He jumped up and said what the Hell are you doing? I said.........I've heard your the shit around here with swooping so I'm hooking you up with my JVX. Then he said Ohhh, Cool what size is it? So I told him its a 99 JVX, and if he lands it once I'll hook up my buddy's 77 JVX. He looked at me with this look of reality in his face, and said, "I don't think I'm quite Ready for this yet, but Thanks". I looked at him and asked, "Are you sure ???, I heard you were in a hurry to Kill Yourself, so I wanted to help". We laughed and hooked up his original 170. I haven't been around lately.........Hopefully he's still jumping it.
  5. Eli !!! What the hell happened? My sincerest sympathy to his family.
  6. Or have Advertising pay for it like DZ.com, Facebook, and YouTube do. But that sounds like it might be a big commitment in time and money. That would turn SDM into a business. Which sounds like why PilotDave may be hinting at selling it.
  7. 145 is a bad ass shot...........Looks like he's kite boarding.

    Skills Camps

Any chance you are heading to Sebastian? Would be good to hang out there.
  9. Yeah you should do that, so I don't get confused anymore. We'll call you Max Mercer and we'll call him Very Berry. That would make things much easier for me.
  10. Oh OK I think I got it figured out then. Colon's a Shit talker with the Skills to back it up. And your just a Shit talker.
  11. yeah I always get the two mixed up Colon and Cohn, not sure why. Either way.........both have a shit load of talent.

    Skills Camps

Seriously...........Nothing planned in Chicago or Florida this year??? All the Big Way Talent we just had on the 108 Way and no one's putting any skills camps together? Is Arizona the only DZ with Big Ways and Sequentials Camps this year? The Tryouts and Record have really put the Itch in my pants for some camps.
  13. Uuuuhhh......Do you have any idea, who Max is, and how much experience he has? I'd say on his worst day, he's well ahead of most of us. I think he's earned the right to talk shit. Though I am surprised he didn't back it up.

    Skills Camps

Any Freefly Sequentials or Big Way Camps planned now that the World Record is complete? Hoping for something on the East Coast, perhaps Sebastian???
  15. Hell Yeah...........Way to go!!! Congrats to all involved.
  16. Well I suppose you know a little more about Tunnel Progression than I do. Guess I have the wrong Idea but still did it the right way.
  17. Oh Yeah coming from the A_s Cream guy himself. Are you going to change your name from ExtremeWade to ChoirBoyWade?
  18. I'd AGREE with this statement. I learned HD Static first and am now focusing on Carving, since that is what is really teaching me how to FLY HD in the tunnel. Again.........There's a HUGE difference between being signed off on progression steps for your tunnel rating..........and actually flying well in the tunnel. There are no Short Cuts, if the goal is to become a solid flyer. Also Justin was a Tunnel Instructor for a little while, and got to learn from the best in the business. So he understands the PROPER steps in Tunnel Progression.
  19. Maybe their trying not to jinx it. Although with the talent I saw at the Tryouts, I'm pretty sure they'll get it.

  21. hmmm sounds like someone is trying to decide on something.
  22. Not sure where you are located, but if you are close to a wind tunnel........I'd highly recommend it. That will definately teach you good habits from the start and dial in your skills. Also find someone with similar skills and buddy up with them in the sky and in the tunnel. You'll be amazed how quickly you both progress. Get some coaching every once in awhile too. That will be your reality check. Have fun.........and keep on keepin on.
  23. Joe Winters !!! What does he know? But seriously........Good Choice.
