  1. March 22-23 I get to meet Jumpergirl and Grogs! They are coming to SDD! Maybe Grogs and I can do an early birthday jump! I love dz.com, it brings us skydivers together! hehe sis
  2. This Saturday is going to rule! We are having all sorts of kick ass activities for safety day! But the coolest thing is that Mike Ortiz (of the freefly team Flyboyz and newly elected to the Board of Directors) is going to be at the dz...on the panel for the freeflying and canopy control safety seminars...and you know that some lucky bastards are going to get to jump with him and Dusty Smith! Man I wish I could freefly already! Progress seems sooooo slowwwwwww It pays to have your dz owner on the USPA Board of Directors, huh Oh yeah, freeflying, that reminds me...they are having the second annual Freaks Flock Together Boogie April 27-29 at Skydive Dallas. Chris Fiala will be back home to organize hybrid formations...and they are supposed to be getting a balloon for balloon jumps...naked DJs and god knows what else! More details to follow when I have more info! Sis
  3. i was reading dutchboy's post about their dz.com boogie and he mentioned airfare sales...there is a really good sale on right now with Delta, $198 round-trip from like a bizillion cities. might check it out guys! have to purchase by march 15...just in time for the easter boogies! sis
  4. i should have clarified we don't get to jump free ALL day, just once, if our checks out within weight limits and then a $10 jump for attending some seminars (A seminar? two seminars? not sure exactly) anyway, that is $28 right there... sis
  5. hmm...i don't seem to have problems with landings...what's the deal? i mean that is a generalized statement. forgive me, but being in psychology i tend to respect actual numbers obtained in valid studies not just a few observations here and there. the only women i have met with landing problems were having trouble flaring because they were on giant student canopies and didn't have much arm strength. i never had either of those problems b/c the largest student canopy i ever jumped was a 210, and i have good upper arm strength to boot. however, i have talked to some girls who didn't have much upper arm strength and struggled to flare, while the JMs were misunderstanding what was happening. anyway, my point is there is no proof of any sort that women have a harder time landing than men. men may have better depth perception than women but not in ALL cases. be careful what you generalize!
  6. Yeah, those articles in Parachutist are pretty good. There are a series of four, aren't there? That would be a good first place to start.
  7. I have that same shirt, the girl meets boy one. Its so funny, everyone at the DZ loves it!
  8. We are going to have a blast this weekend guys! Heather and I are coming from Amarillo, then we'll have Jessica, Malachi & Jenny, David, and Bryce! I say watch out, Freaksis' Posse cold rippin' up the set! LOL Don't ya'll remember Sir Mix A Lot? hahahahahahaaaaa sis
  9. yeah, in my kitchen you open the drawer and there are big bags of our kind of rubber bands in there, they wind up on everything! lol, whuffos always ask where i get these bad ass big rubber bands! haha...
  10. yeah, Pammi and Merrick promise me that they will try to make it to SDD at least once this summer! too bad they can't make it out this weekend though since its Safety Day. just bring the kids and come on... Speaking of jumpsuits, I would also recommend Freedom Means Choice. Karen makes those freefly suits and she and her sweetie Greg are too damn cool! She really gives a lot of options and high quality for the price, which I think is very reasonable. You even get to choose the "phatness." She will do anything you want on your suit, I am sure she could come up with a patch design. I have seen a LOT of her suits. They are at Skydive Dallas now, but I met them in Colorado, where like all the freeflyers at the dz wear her suits! She made one for Bwilling and put grippers on it at his request. good luck, sis
  11. i agree with these explanations of "tandem factory" i think some dz's don't do it on purpose, they just get so focused on making enough money to survive (if its a small dz) that they push the tandems...at the expense of the experienced jumpers... of course some dz's know they are doing it and just don't care though... it's nice to see a dz with a healthy balance...i think bigger dz's are usually better off in this area because they have bigger/more aircraft so they can do tandems and experienced jumpers...when you have a single cessna its hard especially when the tandem person wants video...but that is where dz's make their money, what can you expect you know?? sis P.S. way to go Grogs! hahaha...sorry ya'll i wasn't trying to preach or anything!
  12. damn you should have called yourself "snowsucks" lol! i thought life in the panhandle of texas sucked, but at least we only get 20 inches of snow at a time instead of 80 feet, hahaha...the fact that i live 300 miles from a dz doesn't even sound so bad anymore, i would definitely think minnesota would suck worse! my heart goes out to ya! move down south and come jump with us! maybe you will get to jump again this summer...keep us "posted" haha stupid pun, i know! sis
  13. see now i was reading the database and thought it said she was from texas??? what's up with that? if so we gotta get together and make a jump!
  14. Nope, can't loosen the leash...you have been a very, very bad boy skreamer! we are going to have to figure out a way for you to jump with that thing on this weekend 'cause you aren't getting away! hehe (didn't you know you were coming to safety day with us? I shall WHIP you into safety shape!)
  15. Probably five or six short-sleeved shirts and one long-sleeved one...my favorite is the one that says what Mike was talking about: 98% of all people who die in plane crashes do so upon impact, therefore I choose to exit the plane BEFORE it hits the ground! SKYDIVE!" It has a huge skull and crossbones on it too, really Sport Death. I also like the classic one I have that says something like "Let the woman have her orgasm (this is crossed out in red) AIRGASM first!"
  16. Thanks bro, that is so sweet! I bet the bartender at Chili's was glad we stopped there for shots, did you see the tab? LOL I had fun...this weekend should rock too, you will get to meet more of my EF (Granbury) friends! Sis
  17. Dave, I know exactly who you are talking about! I love to tell people that story. He is lucky to be alive! Main/reserve entanglement which inflated momentarily right before he bounced...whew! Sis
  18. yep got in a jump! :) next weekend is hopefully going to rule. i haven't looked at the weather forecast yet but it doesn't matter 'cause i am going anyway for safety day. thanks for all the good wishes guys!
  19. Dave!!!!! you rule! I am SOOOO excited you are coming to SDD this weekend! hell yeah! we are going to have fun. plus...kegs of shiner bock and catered dinner afterwards! hey i did a three way with Doc and this guy Bryce this weekend, it was way fun... sis
  20. Well see what I get for speaking too soon? The weathermen must have been on siesta Friday or else they just don't make 'em like they used to. We got totally poked by the weather today. It was supposed to be sunny but it rained ALL day. [sad] The forecast still looks good for tomorrow though, and the clouds are clearing up. It will be muddy so we will have to go to a smaller DZ nearby that has a paved runway but any jumps are good jumps, no matter whether they come from a C-182 or an Otter! So...I will keep my fingers crossed for the rest of you and for us too! Sunday Sunday Sunday.... Sis
  21. I have been watching this issue for a week and haven't said anything. On the old Dropzone.com, I previously expressed my personal feelings regarding "dropzone bashing." I was taught from day one as a jumper that you do not publicly bash dropzones or their staff, etc. I have some harsh personal DZ experiences that I feel you would all find very relative to this discussion if I chose to share them, but I don't. While I was going through these experiences, I was given this advice: It may not seem like it, but...skydiving is a very small community. It's like Cheers...everybody knows your name. It won't do you any good to badmouth anyone in skydiving...it will only do you harm. If somebody asks you how you feel about a DZ you don't like, just make a funny face and shrug or something like that. This advice was given to me by many jumpers and I believe we should heed it. This is only my humble opinion and two cents. I respect my fellow forum posters and their opinions, which may differ from mine. I am only trying to help you guys out and tell you things I think may be of benefit to you.
  22. sorry to hear about your troubles, speed racer. hope you can find something you like. personally i have a Pro-Track and I LOVE love love it! I dropped it in the plane a couple of weeks ago, and somehow I busted the "battery cover". It was cracked and coming apart (just the cover) not sure what i did. anyway, the durn thing STILL WORKED beautifully in freefall and still works. larsen and brusgard sent me a replacement battery cover and two new batteries for free how is that for service? plus the fact that the durn thing still worked fine was amazing. it looked as if somebody stepped on it. the front was still ok and everything, not scratched or anything, weird. but obviously they are made well. i say the $285 is worth it if you have it, 'cause i love all the cool stuff it tells you after every jump. its my favorite toy, except for my computer. (parachute doesn't count 'cause its not a toy) a Pro-track really isn't a toy either, but you get my drift! It is functional AND fun to use! LOL I sound like a commerical. Its time to go! Skydiving awaits! BYE! good luck speedo. hehe. sis
  23. jt...that was a wonderful statement thank you so much for saying that. i believe we should keep safety "in" every day also...my DZ is making safety day fun and we even get to jump free so what else can we ask for? sis
  24. Hey Lisa, YOU BET! I would luvvvvv to do a sunset load for ya! If the weather stays as nice as they say, that should be the prettiest sunset load we "Yankee Texan Jumpers" (jumpers who live in the "northern" part of Texas where its cold and shitty all winter) have seen since September! LOL I just have to get to the DZ safely and all will be well! Thanks guys! Have a great weekend everyone. Luv ya. Blue Ones, Sis
  25. Utility bills? huh? you mean i was supposed to pay those? roflmao!! that must be why my whuffo roomie is freezing to death every night! haha! i knew her feet were blue for a reason! lol...god i'm cruel. just call it PMS. or lack of altitude, whatever. i didn't pay my Energas (natural gas) bill for two and half months...it was $250 and i did pay it last week, but damn! that's a lot of jumps! if i could have just made another month or two, it would be summer! then i wouldn't need natural gas! or i could bottle the farts in the plane and the gas would be free! sis
