stay away from the high performance 172's! hehehe (not to mention the dreaded t-34 (trainers!))
-
keep jumpimg the suit..... it does make openings ..."interesting".... but it's worth it...
-
big plans here....stayed tuned....

how many landings do you have under your belt? Chris

***** MAJOR CAUSE ******* ok you all... (southern drawl thing there......) Anyone else want the major favor of a top person... check it out. www.jumpforthecause.com i challenge everyone to make a statement...(give BIG!) Chris

Urgggggghhh>> can't avoid ...... responding..... aaaarrrghhh... (at this point, innocent man turns green and begins shredding buttons from, otherwise seemingly loose shirt....) Folks. Clay is jumping a 190.... he's downsizing to a 170.. from what I've seen, (and Clay, I just talked to Tim today, and he says you're pretty heads-up/normal, unlike what people may believe here...) Friends, if'n you feel uncomfortable with a one size change, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your own concerns/abilities. look in your reserve containers, i'll bet that you all have a "super-zp-gizmo 150" and a 120-126 reserve.... I see it everyday. One size change (i.e.190 to170 sq.ft.) will not injure any experienced pilot. Any pilots here... did your transition from 152 to 172 cause concerns that should awaken the general public and/or the FAA? If it did, it's only because you shouldn't be flying anything. Clay, From what "I've heard", you'll do fine making a transition to a "smaller" canopy. Now I'll give you a heads up on Clay's report of the canopy..... "WOW! What a machine... swoops great.. etc....." Go for it.... (Now I'll Be politically correct.....) no not me.... Chris

Derek and Chuck, Great job... everyone needs to understand the dynamics of (high speed) canopy control. watch those "cousins".... they're on the right track. Chris
-
Wow... Derek, have you seen Rusty (Vest's) work on the same idea..... It seems you imply a bi-plane cutaway... you should spell out the canopy(ies) configuration when you cutaway. STUDENTS... do not cutaway from a bi-plane -main-in-front, reserve-trailing configuration, the released main can destroy your reserve... Can you be more specific, Derek? Chris

Overslept!?!?!?!? We're talking skydiving.... sleep is secondary. Someday you'll understand. Chris

another hard day at work... Monday thru Friday, I guess you people know, I assume you all know, I work a desk/factory. Saturday/Sunday, I work my DZ.... The sweet part of my job(s) is that sometimes I get to skydive, (I get to Bird-Man!). Swooping.... Why have the REAL swoopers... (Bird-men), not been posting here? If you don't own a suit yet, I must tell you... it's only a matter of time. Who's jumped one... is it just me or is this (almost!) as good as sex? That's what I said about my first static line jump... but this is different, this is even better! Chris p.s. If you're a working stiff, (Tandem/AFF/videot) don't try one... you'll quit your income producing jumps... once you go to the darkside, you'll never return,,,, oy! what a great day.
-
oops... 30 days... not 30 day's (beezy'll gig me on that!) been "bird-man"ing all day in horrific winds ..... i'm a bit tired.... chris
-
30 day's on the X-FX and X-VX mod.... simply said... We stand behind everything we produce... if you don't agree, I'll return it to original configuration (reline it in vectran, replace the end lbr and stabilizer. Period. Chris

blues, chris

www.jumpforthecause.com check it out!

Yea... I got ADD also, but i'm tired of having to renew the prescription EVERY TWO YEARS, then i have to send the prescription back to the manufacturer EVERY FOUR YEARS, and the worst part is the pills go bad AFTER 12 YEARS and then you just THROW EM AWAY! My 12 years is just around the corner... then it's no more ADD for me... Chris
-
The vectran reline is 238.00 for an FX... so yes it's about $200 higher... keep in mind that we rebuild your endcells... (oh, by the way, you'll lose your endcell logo panels-we can return the parts if you'd like...) and include new slider and soft links... Then you can expect twice the life for your new HMA lineset... after the original redo, the price for the X-FX HMA reline is the same price as the original Vectran reline... Add it up... pretty sweet deal... (and take 30 days to decide if it's worth it... we haven't had a negative comment on any done so far...) Chris

(this answer was copied from "swooping" forum and the thread is growing there... you might want to follow it there...) Hi Prost, We have had numerous requests to reline the EXTreme FX and VX's with HMA line. Initially we asked that anyone interested contact Icarus Canopies with the request. Currently Icarus Canopies does not have any experience with HMA and therefore is not able to meet the requests. After the requests continued, we finally gave in... (We continue to service ALL canopies we manufactured...) Relining an EXTreme with HMA required a bit of additional engineering. First we had to develop a lineset with a trim to fit the dimensions of the canopy... We do have all of the data on the canopies, not only including the airfoil, but also the lineset data for the Vectran CASCADED lineset. Because the HMA we use is very small (160 kg vs. 580 lb. Vectran), we build HMA linesets in CONTINUOUS lines only. This maintains better lower surface shape. We also install our "Stabilrib" and include a new slider. THIS DOES NOT MAKE AN FX A XAOS-21, (OR A VX A XAOS-27). The Xaos canopies have significant differences in the airfoil. From our experience, there is very positive improvement. (But it still ain't a Xaos!) For costs, etc... contact me (or Beezy) at Precision... 423-949-4688 or email... chris@precision.net or beezy@precision.net *Hey, I'm so sure you'll like it... I'll put our 30 day satisfaction guarantee on this mod... Chris p.s. Inhouse, we refer to the mod as X-FX and X-VX...
-
geez... i'm at home and don't have the numbers here... (Beezy calculated costs/price...) I think it's $458.00 for FX, $478.00 for VX... check with Beezy... (I know i'm within 20-30 dollars...) sorry, it's the best i could do from home...

i'm lookin but i think there's a link to JFTC on Perris' website...

Wow, Michele won a $100 certificate for gear and pm'ed me that (while she was only guessing), she wants to donate her certificate to Jump for the Cause... how nice! However... she has no gear and she's thinkin of donating this... Here's what we do... someone get a contact for the Jump for the Cause... post it here and we all make donations to JFTC and tell Michele to keep the certificate. I think her generosity can inspire everyone else to (collectively) raise even more for a GREAT cause and she has a start on gear for herself... What do ya think? Chris
