A dodgy spammer. We've already disabled their account and blocked registrations from their IP.

API for Dropzones database for mobile app
Meso replied to JaiDiver's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Unfortunately not at this stage, as it stands the dropzone database isn't open to the public. However, it is something we plan to do later this year if all goes according to plan. -
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately there are some complexities to such a system which would may hinder things if implemented. For example, say someone with authority or close to the incident is receiving new information over the course of several days, and wants to keep providing additional information that is relevant - he would be prevented from doing so. And the last thing we want is to restrict important information from getting through. What we may do at some point though (we're working on big stuff in the background here, for this year), is to create it so that posts can be downvoted to a point where they are collapsed by default and one needs to click on an expand button to show them. Which could remove some 'fluff' from threads.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I just took a look and it's unusual. The map is supposed to populate the flags automatically when GPS co-ordinates are added to the listing. I looked at the listing and the map is working on the actual listing page, but not on the main Indoor landing page map. I'll take a look at this and see what's going on.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas etc etc, from all of us here at Dropzone.com With the holidays approaching, we just wanted to let everyone know that those of us behind the scenes will also be taking our annual leave. But don't worry, we're not deserting you. We will be continuing to monitor support e-mails and the forums, as well as bringing you new content, even when we're out of the office. However, it's worth noting that there may be a delay to our support e-mails. If you have sent an urgent query and haven't heard back from us in 48 hours, please send me a private message and I'll mount my steed and come to the rescue. There may also be a slight delay in the approval of reviews or submissions, but again we'll do our best to run through them every day. Otherwise, we hope that you have a great holiday period and a fantastic New Year. Big things are happening for Dropzone.com in 2016, but you'll just have to wait for more on that! ;) Cheers Bryn

Inline image attachments, to my knowledge, have never been enabled for private messages. In fact, we only enabled it for several of the forum categories even. The reason being that it is easy to abuse with meme images and pointless posts. The reason we don't have it included in private messages is a bit different. Private messages use a different system on our system (different database too), and with our CMS that inline functionality was never included in the first place. We're working hard behind the scenes to overhaul a lot of the site features and make them better and private messages will be one of the many, but more on that in the next few months.

Inline photos not allowed in Incidents? - but Preview shows them
Meso replied to pchapman's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
I have gone ahead and added a text alert under the attachments area on posts, to display when a forum section doesn't allow inline image attachments. I'll address your question in your other thread dthames, but in short - inline image attachment isn't supported in private messages. -

^ Ladies and gentleman, Grinch of halloween. Halloween is for whoever enjoys it, to say that it is only for a certain group of people assumes that everyone has the same interests as you do. The world would be a better place if people didn't try to separate themselves from the things that are 'for children'.

Meso replied to pchapman's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Hey, You're correct, the inline images are only enabled in a select few forums and incidents is an area where the potential for abuse outweighs the positives that it could present. It's very rare that images are posted in the incidents forum altogether. I will look into showing a warning or something though for the post-preview/post message editor stage. -
Done.

Thanks for the kind words :) Especially since my presence has been a bit lacking recently, due to working on some exciting things for this site behind the scenes (more on that at a later point). That's not a bad suggestion Muff, and will look into doing that instead. I know that our premier membership stuff is quite hidden ;) At least you guys know that we're not trying to milk you all for cash hah!

I've noticed quite a bit of an increase in scammers recently, particularly the seller scammers. In turn, I sat down with our developer and we have created a small piece of functionality that will help us in removing scam sellers quicker. The way it works, is that we have a few editors on the site who will have access to a button that when they see a scam ad, and the button is clicked - will then disable the user of that ad, as well as unpublish all their other ads. At the same time, it will set an alert on that user's profile to say that they have been marked as a scammer. Since our editors are only human and there will always be some time period before these ads are spotted and flagged, you may have already initiated contact with the seller. Thus we advise that anyone who is performing a purchase on the classifieds, just take down the seller's username and before any payment is made, come back to check on that seller's profile. This is of course not a fool proof method, and some scammers may still slip through - but I hope that it can offer some extra protection to buyers on the site. PS: If you are an active, long time member and frequent classifieds user, and want to apply to be an editor to help in this cleaning process, you can send me a PM.

As suggested above, the User Search is a functionality that is enabled for premium members - it should actually be hidden for any non-premium members, so not sure why it's showing up , but should probably take a look at that ;)
