  1. There used to be a time when there were more than one candidates per region, now it is the same candidate (incumbent) for the last few years. Apathy, plain and simple, if nobody gives a fuck, why should I. (here it comes)
  2. Sorry that happened to your kids LT. Divewerkz had a contingency plan that we put in place earlier this year; last out, break off @ 4k, everyone track back to the dz, camera pull IMMEDIATELY at breakoff. One of my teammates landed by McGowans house and I think a couple of times two of my teamies landed in the south landing area. We almost always landed back, I always did (had to make the dubbing line). My point is that teams stop their dive plan after 35 seconds, the jump is not over until you are back in the team room bragging about how well the day went, sure, every team has a plan for cutaways etc, but no one has a breakoff plan outside of 180 and track, what if you are way out in east BF (last out) and at least two are tracking away from the far off dz? If everyone tracks back(to the dz) with a well understood plan no one is in any danger and everyone makes it back close enough to catch the dz pickup and the high fives in the packers area. The trick is, everyone has to thoroughly understand the plan.
  3. We don't have anyone here in Eloy stupid enough to swoop with a helmet on the back of their head.

    Nationals

    Divewerkz will be in advanced.
  5. The problem with being 255# is that most gear has been TSO'd at 254#, azdiver will be about 270# geared up.

    Block 12

Although I miss seeing zipper-star, I DO NOT miss hearing my whiney ass teammates bitching about how hard it is to do. I would be the last person to complain if it was reinstated to the dive pool. ps I am speaking about former teammates bitching.
  7. Aww man! Somebody always has to come on and ruin my BS with facts! Ooookay, Navy had it first, Airforce borrowed it later.
  8. 225, since the accident I sometimes come up short of the numbers.
  9. The F16 is a AZ Air Guard out of Tucson. The '18 is Navy, the Airforce allows the Navy to use the Star and bars on their aircraft (Navy includes Marines). The Russians built a bigger bird than the '124, The An-224, they built it to haul their version of the spaceshuttle, 6 engines and a split tail sort of like a twin Beech, there was only one flying as of 2003 and it was day to day due to the shit economy over there.
  10. ....that and the spell check malfunction on the letter to Defazio, this should be a walk in the park....as long as nobody brings up the runway light target practice and the 182 off airport spot landing contest, no problem. However, honestly, I really hope this works out for both DZ's but alot has happened between them both that will make this a really tough fight.
  11. Double J Ya slackass, you guys guys didn't book by mid March? WTF, over.
  12. There have been many attempts to get skydiving in front of the mainstream public over the years, all failed, we are still considered what ever the f#*@ they think we are, crazy, suicidal, et al. In the mid 90's it was Skyblazin'(on ESPN) with of all people Don Swayze as one of the hosts/commentators, the the X games that lasted for awhile but really did not bring people to the manifest counters in the promised numbers. The only mass media event that had any affect on skydiving was the hideous movie Point Break, at the DZ I was jumping at we had a huge boost in first jump student numbers, Cutaway and Dropzone were touted as the sucessors to Point Break, the best part of those two turds was seeing if we could recognize our pals earning their extras pay in the background. Then there was the smoke job of how if we had Nationals at one DZ two years in a row we would attract all kinds of media attention, nothing like showing up at 6am and sitting on our asses until 10 so we could finish 8way, definitley one of the better BS jobs I've seen. The whole purpose of my rant is to try to show that no matter how we package our sport we will never sell it to the mainstream, Nascar takes amoebic mentallity to understand the premise, as do most stick and ball sports, nobody gets skydiving, except for the skydivers. Don't get me wrong, I come across as extremely cynical, fueled by Redhook Blonde, I truly do hope the Wildwood event becomes a media rich venue that brings fame and sponsors to all but, there has been alot of smoke blown up alot of asses for the last 15+ years that I've been in this sport and it is hard for me to get excited when I read a story like the original post.
  13. ....and uh, it takes one to know one......yeah.
  14. You're all a buncha nerds! All ya'll!
  15. I hope this pays off better than last years Nationals did.
  16. They usually are too good to be true.
  17. Battleground WA. Trees more than 5' tall and none have thorns. Grass, green grass, native green grass. Water, it's everywhere up there, and when it rains it isn't mud, like here. Real coffee shops, not that Starbucks crap, real coffee without the corporate BS behind it. People with decent social skills, and they know how to use the turn signal on their cars (usually). Thai food restaurants, real Thai not southwest style that is almost Mexican food with curry. Up there the Snowbirds are gone for 9 months, instead of here for 9 months. There's so much, I could go on and on, but I put up with AZ so I can jump anytime, all year 'round.
  18. I've never had a problem in 5 years double stowing locking stows and using long bands.
  19. It goes by the highest score first Scotty. Way to go Mrs. Beyer and all the rest.
  20. Well, if your gonna lose a podium shot at least make sure the other team is sweatin' it out. Too bad about the weather, Airspeed could have made a run at the French. Way to go Fire.
  21. I got a server not found on that link.
