  1. Wow thanks for the info. I will certainly get a video next time I can and get some advice from people in person. So since it's inherently unstable, is a flat track not the best way to go about getting velocity and distance with stability? I'm looking to get my track to the point where I'm getting maximum distance, maximum velocity and minimal fall rates. What sort of things should I be working on? Also I notice when I'm tracking that I can steer with my upper torso/head. Is this the best way or is it possible to get good control from leg work as well? What other ways to track are there? Sorry for all the newb questions, I'm still a beginning jumper after all! Blues
  2. glad to hear that. for the most part the only other people i know who read it are people from my IT department
  3. hey guys, I'd like some input from some of you experienced jumpers out there
  4. Hey guys...just wondering if there are any skydivers out there who share my passion for the hilarity that is fark.com ?
  5. What do I have to do (what skills to work on, how to register, etc) in order to get in on my first 8-way? I'll be attending the boogie but really have no direction as far as doing formation jumps. I've only ever done 2-ways etc. Thanks!
  6. What are typical repercussions from doing this illegally (ie without permission, not under USPA conditions, no notifications, etc)? A mere curiosity people!
  7. Yea same here. Last semester was rough....the last month I probably pulled 6 before we got out for break. This semester, however is pretty light (meaning the end may be like last semester )
  8. use it as a hammock for your patio or deck!
  9. I'll be coming as well!!! Can't wait for the good times ahead! And balloon jumps :D
  10. Awesome! thanks for the heads up! I will be sure to take time off work this summer and make my first boogie there :)
  11. Hi there, I live in upstate New York but would be willing to drive a few hours to do some balloon jumps. I realize the season is just starting back up again up here, but if anyone could give me the right idea that would be great.
  12. so cool! those friends are keepers!
  13. Wow, glad that worked out in your favor man. That has often crossed my mind as I still have some gear fear (keeps me in check...not a bad thing). That and falling out of the back of the harness I worry about. Beers.
  14. Hey Guys, I ordered my new custom Wings container February 21st. I know on the website they specify up to 13-14 weeks delivery time...however I was just curious what new owners are reporting. Anyone get theirs earlier than expected? I did order with partial tie-dye, articulated and couple other bells & whistles so I suppose that would increase the wait. Anyways, sorry to be ansy I'm just excited to get my Wings!
  15. What is the latest Mod for? I have a 160 Tri not sure DOM but how old are most of the canopies that require this?
  16. Robin Williams and Jon Stewart stand up are HILLARIOUS from the few acts I've seen however... nothing compares to Bob Saget standup. Pretty surprised no one has mentioned him yet...I have tickets to see him in DC after getting his DVD "That Ain't Right". The man is quite possibly the funniest person alive (imho).
  17. great advice! i recently did my recurrency jump (end of winter in the northeast is nearly around!) and forgot how great it felt when your coach/instructor is all smiles. its a subtle reminder to yourself that the sport is about being safe and having the time of your life on each and every jump.
  18. also, i'd just like to add that some alti's such as the altitrack you can adjust for any discrepencies and manually set the altitude if you notice it's off (when at altitude, obviously on climb it takes a little bit sometimes).
  19. Yup, in fact I did it in about 4 days...that's with bad weather on 2 of the days. You could probably even do it in a day circumstances permitting! You may have to repeat levels, weather could be bad, strong winds for students, instructors may be busy, etc...so its quite circumstantial.
  20. I don't know where the hell you guys did your AFF but it only cost me $1400USD. and to address the original post: it gets better once your off student status! work towards your A and try new things! once you start jumping with other people the skies the limit (well, i guess really the ground is but you know what i mean).
  21. a lot of real dope containers in this thread! keep 'em coming! i'll be sure to put my pics up as soon as my brand new wings arrives.
  22. I can't speak for what is common but I can tell you what I've seen. A lot of people like to put them on their mudflaps or chest straps. Also some people put them on their legs. It makes sense to go low and put it on your legs. In a hard spin under canopy it's probably easier to reach down than to fight g-forces and reach up for the knife.
