Nicely done HH. You'll probably catch some flak for it - but who cares? Sometimes when the party gets out of control, you have to kick everyone out of your house. Don't blame you at all, and don't care if Talkback never returns. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

After work yesterday, I get out to my car and see this multiple page religious 'newspaper' stuck under my wiper. I can only assume everyone else in the garage (9 story parking garage) got the same, because they're on other cars, and one or two are littered around. Now I'm all for free speach and whatnot, but this is just stupid. This wasn't just a little one page deal, this was about 12 or 15 pages of crap. Oh, and it rained - so I'm sure the people parked on the roof were thrilled with these morons. Seriously - who are you trying to reach?! Do you really think some office worker, trudging out to his/her car at 6:00 on a Monday to find shit littered all over the garage and their car is going to suddenly find God?! It came from Alamo Minitries. I'm guessing they've had problems before - they actually have a page on their website devoted to 'legal issues' http://www.alamoministries.com/legal/index.html it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I'm not actually looking to buy one - I already have a Handspring Treo 600 (all geeks bow before me in awe!) I was just curious as to what the game was about. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Sticky?! It's one of the most absurd 'rants' I've ever heard. Well, ok, the first one was in rant form. This is just 'label' form. Still retarded. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

That's hilarious! You should put that on a shirt and sell it! On a related note - I like the 'bail' idea. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I had a big plate of pasta last night, complete with garlic bread. It was good. I love carbs. Oh - and I emailed the Bob and Tom show and asked them to play "Toast" ... I'm not sure if they did, I didn't get to hear it. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Fair enough, we'll just have to agree to disagree on that point. I think it was her mistake, it was her responsibilty to push it if she wanted it fixed. And I'd be estatic if one phone call was all it took to get things fixed anymore. Depends on the conversation during that phone call as well I guess. Well there's covert boobies, and there's blatent boobies. Yours might have been the covert kind, how am I to know? it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Right... and? You told Erica it wasn't possible for her to go someplace else, because she didn't live in Chicago. It was possible for her to go to CSC, she was only 30-40 miles away from it. You can argue the practicality of it, but she could have done it. So you really didn't have a right to discount her example. You're completely missing the point. I don't doubt that CSC will break their own rules to make her happy (even though she isn't a customer, and they have no real reason to 'make her happy') The point is that the customer has some responsibilty here - they have some duty to not bash a company or product in a public forum until that company has had a reasonable chance to make things right with them. I don't think one phone call and not pushing the issue is fulfilling that side of the responsibility. Can I get a NSFW?!! Oh.. wait... nevermind, it's almost 7, I'm the only one left here.... it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
Uhhh... she doesn't live at Skydive Chicago either... what's your point here? He meant to get one for SDC, got CSC instead. Yes, she could go the 30-40 miles between the two of them and use it. I don't think Erica's example was that far off. CSC could have handled it better, but I don't think it's reasonable to have expected them to (depending on what actually happened) She could have handled it better, and is reasonably expected to (depending on exactly what happened) My impression of what happened still remains that her boyfriend called in August, they said 'no, sorry, no refunds' and nothing else happened beyond that. I have no loyalty to CSC, I've jumped there a few times, that's about it. I've just seen this happen more than once on this forum, and just happened to pick this instance to point out that I think it's not the right way to go about things. Laurel - sorry if you happened to be the one to make this post. I don't think you're a bad person either. Like I said in my first post, it's understandable when you get frustrated and have a knee-jerk reaction. Lots of people have done it. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
Now there's been several phone calls and emails? From your post, you gave me the impression there had only been the one call made in August. I was actually afraid you'd see it this way - you making it public is not what got this resolved; the DZO being aware of your problem is what got it resolved. Had you talked to him first privately, and he said no, then you made it public and got it fixed - that'd be different. As Doug said, this was the first he'd heard of it. Maybe they should have, I don't know. I don't think what the 'staff' did or didn't do is different than what someone would do at any other DZ or business. And we don't know what actually happened either. Think about it - called in August, busy weekend day jumping, "Can I get a refund on this?" "No, sorry, policy is no refunds" "ok" Hell, maybe Phil didn't even actually call - maybe he heard about the hot skydive.com girls and really wanted to go to CSC In any case, I feel it is the consumer's responsibility to ask to go as far up the ladder as they can trying to get something resolved before taking it into a public arena. Like I said before, her boyfriend's mistake will probably end up costing CSC money, and she's going to throw some negativity at them too... just seems kinda shitty to me. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
I notice a lot of people do this - so don't take this personally - but... Most places do have a 'no refund' policy on gift certificates, and most of the time when you call the first answer you'll get is "Sorry, we have a no refund policy" - the person on the phone is probably just doing their job. I'm sure if you would have asked to talk to someone else (who has the authority to make decisions that override policy) you could have gotten it taken care of in August. Instead, you waited 8 months, then bashed a perfectly good DZ in a public forum (for a mistake your boyfriend made in the first place). You should have given them a chance privately first - then if they didn't want to help you out, feel free to bash away! Like I said, don't take this personally, I've seen a lot of people jump the gun around here. "My jumpsuit doesn't fit right!" "My Protrack doesn't work!" "My rig isn't right!" -- give the people a chance to make it right first before you possibly harm their business. That's just something for everyone to think about, not directed at you. And this case is even worse - if they do give you money back for your mistake, you're going to end up costing them money in transaction charges and fees. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Sigh... ok... XY and over the age of 18... how's that? I could even argue that under 18, you're still a man, just not fully developed. Now get your ass back in the kitchen where you belong, woman! it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
Blah... guess I should have Googled this before I assumed it was an original thought and wasted a bunch of time responding. Oh well. My definition is even more basic than that, but pretty close. Again - why act a certain way because of tradition, expectations, or to obtain a label? Be true to who you are, have that XY chromosome - that's all it takes. Now, my definition of "Good Person" is much more indepth. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I love it when things degenerate into a "Whatever!" I interpret that as "I have nothing intelligent to say, but I want you to think I don't care, but can't let you think you actually made a valid point or two, but because I'm a real man I need to get the last word in..." it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Well, I'm bored, so I'll play along.... I do this all the time - just not anyplace where it's inappropriate. So women should let you do what you want to do, even if it's not what they want? Is this cultural rape? "Dammit woman! I'm paying for the goddam dinner!" isn't any better than "Why isn't my goddam dinner ready yet?!" You're trying to "...put a woman in her place" That's wrong, any way you look at it. If a woman likes that kind of stuff, then fine - but don't try to force it on her. Have you ever had a female insist on paying for your dinner when you went out? Why did you object? Did you feel like it made you less of a person? Did it make you feel less powerful or in control? Did you feel embarassed when the waiter came to get the check, and saw it was her credit card? Do you realize there's women out there who feel the exact same way? And you're forcing them to feel like that every time you go out. But hey, gotta keep them in their place, right? Any human being over the age of 18 should be able to do this. Why does what you eat or where you get it from define you as a person? I haven't killed my own food in years. Even then, I hunted for fun, not to survive. We haven't had to do that in centuries. Something I agree with! I'd rather live to 60 having fun with life, than live to 90 trying to do everything right. That being said, there's nothing wrong with trying to take care of yourself so you can be around longer for the people you love, who love you. Why not? A friend of mine has really long hair. He's given females conditioning tips before. He likes it to look good, he likes to be able to manage it. That makes him not a 'real man'? I wouldn't call him even close to being 'girly' - he lights his own farts for Christs' sake. Yes, because "killing stuff" is so hard to do. Again, this isn't dependant of how real of a man you are. Gang members can kill stuff, gay men can kill stuff, woman can kill stuff. Little homophobic? Will watching the only TV show with "Queer" in the title, turn me into one?! What about Monster House? Is that ok to watch? No one - straight/gay man/woman should change who they are for their partner. This also depends on your definition of 'manliness' - does belching and farting in public make me a man? So you're saying if you have mental issues you can't deal with - tough shit? I suppose all those guys that came back from are just pussies because they couldn't deal with any mental trauma they experienced there? People who suffer from social disorders, that prevent them from living their life should just off themselves instead? Almost as long as humans have existed, there's been people to talk to, seek council with, confide in, etc. Should we have war paint at the ready also? What 'preys' on you in this age? Should I keep my 'urban camouflage' handy in case a gang war springs up in my neighborhood? If you're planning on wearing a tie, you should know how to tie it. Again, why does what you wear define who you are? Hahah! No, chicks don't really dig scars. Is there any 'good' way to get a wound? Typically, you did something stupid to get it. Who can't hammer a nail?? Be proud of yourself - you can use a hammer! One of the oldest and simplest tools mankind knows! If you're capable of standing, you should give your seat to anyone who you think could benefit from it more than you - whether that be an elderly person, pregnant woman, or any man/woman that looks like they could use a good rest. I'll agree they're damn fun to shoot. But they shouldn't be tools to "deal with it" Violence rarely solves anything, and should be a last resort. Sigh... so, being an emotional person is a sign of weakness? You're not a man if you cry? That's a natural process for a release of emotion - but you're saying it's wrong? I'm not that good at hunting, I can't box (however, I know a kickass female boxing instructor that reads this very forum - she could easily kick your ass - guess you're not a 'real man') When is shot putting useful?! I watched my friend's mom change her own alternator and swing from a tree with a chainsaw - maybe she was just a retrosexual trapped in a woman's body. And why does being able to take care of anything make you more of a man? We're decades past that. I can't rebuild an engine - I take it to a mechanic. During the winter, I even let the garage down the street change my oil, because I don't feel like (or have to) freeze my ass off to do it. I can make a computer do damn near anything - I don't expect my mechanic to be able to. Yes, there was a time where the nearest person to help you do anything was a couple days ride away, you had to know a little something about everything. Now, you don't have to do that. Of course, anyone with a half an ounce of intelligence and dexterity can change their own oil or hang a picture is they wanted to. Maybe they don't want to. Maybe their time is more valuable doing something else. Arnold Schwarzenegger sure seems like a 'real man' (he smokes cigars, drives a Hummer) - I doubt he changes his own oil or built his own deck. Isn't kitchen stuff "woman's work"? Knowing how to do some of that, might make you girly. Again - everyone should know how to do this. Many people don't. Again - why? You don't have to know how to do everything anymore. I guess my dad isn't a 'real man'. Sure, he's 60 years old, drinks, smokes, is a Vietnam Vet, can get two shots out of a single-action shotgun than you probably could with a pump-action... but he called some people to take a tree out of his yard. And one of the other ones he took down by himself didn't fall right where he wanted, and took out the cable line. We laughed our asses off, had a beer, and called the cable guy. Oh wait... jesus we're pussies! We should ahve fixed the cable ourselves! See above. Wow! Another thing I agree with. But, everyone should act like this - not just 'real men'. People shouldn't worry about being a "real man" or a "real woman" - you should be free and able to be whatever kind of person you want, without judgement from anyone else. If a girl likes a guy to open doors, pay for everything - then fine, she should look for a guy like that. If she doesn't like that stuff, and doesn't want you to do it - then she should find someone who's ok with that. Not everyone is the same person - that'd be boring anyway. Everyone should be polite and considerate, I'll agree with that. No one should do anything just because it's expected of them, and no one should do anything with the sole intent of earning a label. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Drove a friend of mine all over trying to get him to my old car for him to use. Smelled tons of different stuff, looked at really expensive lip balm, and had a lot of fun with stuff. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

So I've been stuck at home in bed for the last two days... no St Patty's green beer for me tonight ... anyway - daytime TV seriously sucks! If it weren't for SpikeTV playing MacGyver, I'd be back to digging out Jessica's eyes with a spoon. Well, out of her pictures anyway. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
