  1. Sold my house so I could jump more!!!!! Really just sold it to free up some of the money so I could get my rig etc (anybody got a spare tent?).... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  2. I loved the way he used to fly it over to Weston just so he could get mushrooms in his bacon butty!!!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  3. How about Tigg's Islander I got board after 30 minutes and it was only about 8k. But it's still a cool plane. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  4. Phil From what I've heard about you your a lot more obsessive than just that!!!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  5. Dave If he was to come over to Weston on the Green he'll get a warm welcome (only problem would be the distance he'd have to travel). We have the best rig store I've ever seen (loads of rigs ranging from 260's down to 150's for rent), plus we've just had a coaching weekend where we've just gained another 9 FS/WARP coaches (I know it's old terminology, but it works) so he'd be sure of people to learn from. 6. Personnally I have 2 hook knives. My main one (a nice big jack knife on the right leg of my jump suit) and a reserve (cheap plastic one on my left leg strap). Reasoning behind having one on each side is so that if one arm is unusable and I can't get to my main I can get to the reserve. Another thing to note is that if you do have a knife on your chest strap it is orientated so you have to pull it down to get it out of it's sheath (don't want to go cutting your nose off). If you have knives on your legs you have to pull them up to get them out as you'd have to reach to far to pull them down. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  7. Various different reasons. If it's a team they will probable all do a hand grip with a shake (normally similar to the exit key and by the same person), this'll help bring the teams timing together and allow for any last minute pep talk. As for others it's just a hey, have a good time, I know how you feel type thing. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  8. No worries. The thing in the link is only made for BMW Moto Guzzi but there may be something similar for whatever you've got, or it may be adapable. Personnaly I like the idea of a skateboard and some rope (Will have to try that one round the DZ perimeter track!). Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

  12. I too found relaxing in free fall during AFF a very hard thing to do. Apprently a problam is that unlike all the other signals (arch, legs, arms etc.) the required response is mental rather than physical. I have heard that if you make this a physical response by taking a deep breath it can help. The other thing is to take your time and don't get paniced by anything. Also if you havn't already, talk to your instructors they will have seen this hundreds if not thousands of times before, I'm also sure that if they were honest they were exactly the same during their training and will do anything to help you. 13. I think it was: Sidebody Phalanx RH Doughnut Stair Step Diamond Can't be certain for sure as it about a year and 160 jumps ago (will check for you). One we did on another cat-10 jump was: Sidebody Phalanx Open Accordian Satellite Something our DZ always does is to put the student in point as it really makes then work at keeping the visual contact. I think it's one of the best looking planes ever made, and was well ahead of it's time. Another pic to help you. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

  20. I managed 9 points (even with one of the others on the jump brain locking the exit). But at Weston it's generally accepted that you should manage 2 off 6 point 4-ways for your cat 10 (just to try to increase the level of awareness of people past cat 10). 21. My advice would be to start your coaching as soon as possible after you have your A license. Solo's while fun don't allow you to control yourself in the air, you won't be able to tell if your back sliding, if you try side sliding you won't know if you've managed, you won't know hoe good your track really is etc. The only problem you may have is finding somebody to jump with, ask your instructor, they'll be able to help you out. Myself, when I'm not doing training etc. I try to jump (not coaching) with people just after completeing AFF (inc. consols), It's good for them, it's great to see their faces and as your their first 2-way they have to buy beer!!!!! 22. "Hey, I have no problem with the U.S. using its veto power since its the muscle (and the brains) behind the U.N. anyway" Interesting comment in light of the following articles I have found (link below) the appear to show that the US are trying to make the Un a worthless force: http://www.globalpolicy.org/unitedstates/unpolicy/gen2003/0415moral.htm http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/UN/usvetoes.html http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0303/S00085.htm Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  23. Being able to have a personnal opinion is one of the mainstay of a democracy, by your comment I take it that you either don't live in one or you would be happier to live in a dictatorship (kinda like the way things were in Iraq). Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  24. Yes the reasons that we all knew the stockpiles where there is because we sold it all to him.... Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
  25. This article and it’s sentiments are unbelievably hypocritical!!! Lets all have a look at the list of UN resolutions that are currently being violated by countries other than Iraq: http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/1002resolutions.pdf I found resolution 487 (1981) quite amusing. I assume that the reference to the French was due to their veto to the attack on Iraq, if that is the case and you agree with that read these quotes that I have extracted from the text: "Since the early 1970s, the United States has used its veto power nearly fifty times, more than all other permanent members during that same period combined. In the vast majority of these cases, the U.S. was the only dissenting vote." "Furthermore, this list does not include resolutions that were also violated for a number of years that are now moot (such as those dealing with Indonesia’s occupation of East Timor, South Africa’s occupation of Namibia, and Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon). If these were also included, the number of violations would double. In most of these cases, the United States played a key role in blocking enforcement of these resolutions as well." It may appear that I’m having ago at some nations but my message is that these kinds of problems are not just restricted to Iraq and have been around for many years… Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
