  1. Hey Guys, I just bought a used older model Flattop pro which I am repainting and fixing up. I was wondering which latches had the most problem with coming undone in the sky and people loosing their gear? I've done a search here but could find any explanation of which latch was the worst. Mine has the one that hooks to the back piece and then snaps forward kinda like a ski boot. Also, if this is a problem how can i get a new latch? Will a new one from Bonehead go on my older style helmet? -Chris Martin
  2. A rating is not the answer, The DZO/Tandem JM should have the FINAL word on whether or not the jumper can do video/ be in the video rotation. The answer choice that it would just be giving the DZO more money is strangely skewed, I'm positive that if you have a rating the money for that rating goes to the USPA and not the DZO. Therefore some of us would be paying membership, coach rating, tandem rating, and now a video rating fee to the USPA each year. Not to mention a possible video rating course from a course director that would be another expense. I think that a new rating is just a little ridiculous, The USPA if anything should rewrite the BSR's to make it more clear the requirements to jump a camera with a tandem. -Chris Martin
  3. Well, Disclosing any important information about LASA's Prototype HC5 side Mount box would surely be the death of me But thanks for your input -Chris Martin
  4. Hey Guys I have a question for the experienced camera guys. I'm one of the staff videographers at my dropzone and I've been jumping a pc109 sidemounted in a Bonehead box on a NVertigo X with a Rebel XT and sigma 10-20 lens up top. My 109 is having some serious touch screen problems and the LCD pull out screen sometimes just shows static (needless to say it's all fucked up) any ways I am wanting to get a new camera and i have been doing extensive research on cameras. Basically I have decided to go with the HC5 but i can't top mount it and i don't have the $ to buy a Flattop too. So basically I am wondering what your take is on sidemounting an HC5 on my helmet using either an L bracket or custom making a box for it. I was looking at the FF3 and i don't see why it can't be done on an NVertigo. Thanks Chris -Chris Martin

    Hawk!

That is a red shoulder hawk for sure, They are very very common in the south east and Auburn, Al is absolutely covered with them! I even saw one take out a dove over campus yesterday... It totally made my day haha -Chris Martin
  10. I would say go with the kit lens if this is a Rebel Xt or XTI until you are confident that you are close to the tandem on exit and that you are confident that you can be anywhere you want to be at anytime on the jump... Then i would get a Sigma 10-20 which is what i jump... It's a fantastic lens BUT you have to be there to get pictures if you know what i mean... If you are even slightly too far away the pictures will look like crap so before you spend $500 on a Sigma or any other lens be proficient with the cheap on first -Chris Martin
  11. Hold up now... I never said LASA replaced the USPA as the USA's FAI certified organization... They both exist and both have FAI endorsements! LASA is FAI -Chris Martin

  14. I'd go with the takamine... It's an excellent guitar and has a really good action making it easy on your fingers which as said before is the main reason people stop playing guitar.... It would be an excellent first guitar for sure... Also i would suggest if you want to spend alot of money on a guitar to go for an Alvarez Yari which i prefer over Martins and Taylors personally. -Chris Martin

  24. I jump a Crossfire loaded at 1.7 and think it is an excellent canopy, Beautiful openings, long surf, and very powerful flare... I have also found that you can still do a braked approach and landing in an abort situation and it still maintains a good flare even though its a 1.7 loaded 99... I don't know about loading it any higher though... I would like to know what you guys think also because I am debating whether or not my next canopy will be another Crossfire or not..
