Damn Simon! I didn't know your elbow turned out that bad! Holy shit dude. Dave is right, all we had at skyfest were a few solid flyers and a bunch of zoomers. That won't be the case this time, I'm not playing target again. If we can get the ASC guys to come over (don't forget Kenny P. and Chuck Owen if he's in the state) we'll have a solid crew and can eliminate any zoomers. If you NC guys will come down it'll be even better. The dates will be SOLID and the event CONFIRMED if that's what you are worried about. Come down and we'll get this thing set! -Chris Martin

Nah, I'm using a flash. And I also have other lenses that I'll be using. Thanks for the help guys. I quoted them a price and I'm doing the job tonight. I'm gonna be shooing stills mostly but I'm also gonna set up a video camera on a tripod just for a few songs in particular. Thanks again for all the help -Chris Martin

I just got offered to take video and pictures of a band playing at a bar here in Auburn and I don't know how much to charge them. I'll be using a rebel Xti and a sigma 10-20mm lens. It'll probably take 2 hours. How much should I charge? -Chris Martin

Actually, if the pilot is receiving anything that has value then he has to have a commercial license. Basically it has to be his plane and he would have to pay for everything. So unless you can find a pilot that will fly you up for free and drop you out of his own plane he needs to have a commercial rating. -Chris Martin

Questions about viso readings
AUSkyguy replied to climboutandhang's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Typically If you are doing a Hop and Pop and don't freefall for longer than 10 secs then it won't show a top speed and sometimes it won't log the jump if you pull out the door -Chris Martin -
This is an excellent opportunity for someone (like you) to make up some cool useful signals and make a chart so that we can all have some basis of standard -Chris Martin
-
I'm not sure, but i don't think a NOTAM is dependent on airspace class, anyways they are really easy to file so i would at least advise calling the Air traffic control and talking to them -Chris Martin
-
Hell you don't have to take the door off, Just squeeze out and be careful of your handles/ hackey or pullout I've done it numerous times, but i don't recommend it really the only problems you would run into are needing a commercial rated pilot (if he's getting paid OR receiving any compensation) and you need to file a NOTAM with the FAA (call the Air traffic control that is responsible for your area) -Chris Martin

Try and lean back at the waist, like you are in a chair that leans back slightly, and focus on keeping your head up at looking straight ahead at the horizon. If you are still back sliding focus more on leaning your upper torso back and pushing against the wind with your back. Also you should Def. get video, I hope that is included in your coaching... If not you should request it Hope this helps -Chris -Chris Martin

Yeah we flew side by side for a while and then we got too much vertical separation so we tracked away from each other. It Was pretty cool for sure -Chris Martin

Oh yeah that picture is in good old beautiful Pell City, Alabama -Chris Martin

Well i figured that exiting towards the line of flight with the wind in my chest was easiest since trying to dive out of the plane would be hard to do since you need to keep from getting wind in between your body and the board which will tear it right out of your fingers. As you can see in the next picture of that sequence we are turning down the hill to fly perpendicular to the line of flight to keep from flying other the other groups (Very Important!) Do not fly up jump run with these boards as they do have a fairly fast forward speed. -Chris Martin
-
I've done the body board in the sky before. It's actually really easy to hold on to as long as you exit in the direction of flight (into the wind) and ride the hill that way. Then small input on the board will fly it around. At opening i just wrapped my left arm around the board and pulled. Once i was under canopy i stuck it between my legs. I would suggest a full face helmet for sure and i wouldn't suggest rigging up any kind of attachments to your body with it since it could SERIOUSLY hinder emergency procedures. Also, Don't be afraid to let go of it if you get in a spin or any other kind of serious problem. Better off dropping a foam board that weighs practically nothing than going in trying to keep it. Attached is a pic of me exiting out of a caravan with it -Chris Martin

What happens when the new latch system fails? What fails on the latch that the protector fixes? Have there been any losses with the old system thats on my helmet and yours? -Chris Martin
-
Thanks for all your help guys, I just ordered the new latch from bonehead so i can retrofit it to my flattop. I also noticed that the new helmets have the riser strike protection plate that covers the ratchet part mounted on the side of the helmet and has a small hole in it. Is this piece mandatory? Should i try to make my own to replace it or just go without? Sorry about all the questions this is my first flattop Oh yeah, Here are some before and after pictures of it I have yet to put my site on it -Chris Martin

Can anyone post a picture of the one that you're talking about? The metal one with no chance of coming undone... Thanks -Chris Martin

Mine has a cutaway that has been added on already. Will this not work with my new latch? Anyways do i just call bonehead to get the new latch? Also how much did it cost? -Chris Martin
