  1. the assumption here is that they haven't already considered it and done the cost/benefit analysis so the government would have to force it on them......for their own good My comments aren't so much an argument to actually raise the minimum wage so dramatically, as they are to suggest that it may not be the end of the world if it were forced on them. or maybe they just don't have the negotiating skills... 2. They will be unemployed temporarily. I think you'd have to allow time for the transition to see how this would ultimately impact the overall unemployment rate for this segment of the population. If you have a mildly educated 40 year-old who is already making 9/hr breaking his back on the docks, all of a sudden Mcdonalds is looking more attractive to him...He would simply trade in his back brace for an apron, while the young uneducated stud at Mcdonalds takes his place on the docks. 3. Today, someone could walk into a police station and vaporize hash oil in an e-cig and go undetected... I'd like to see how that would play out using the more traditional methods of vaporizing... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  4. Why would they have to jack prices if efficient, higher paid employees are bringing in more profit than inefficient, lower paid employees? Franchise Owner: "Man, I really thought that minimum wage hike to $9/hr was gonna kill us, but now we have efficient employees who can sell more and provide better service. Our profits are just as good if not better....How about we capitalize on this - lets jack the prices and blow it all to hell." Perhaps they would be better suited for jobs that don't require skills in sales and customer service... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

  6. Your God gives you more than you deserve yet, the starving around the world are less deserving????? Do you really believe that the earth is incapable of providing sustenance for everyone on this planet? I do believe that we are running low on habitable space as well as space for livestock and crops. Drinkable water supplies are low or quickly becoming polluted in many regions on this planet. Earth is only so big and the vast majority is covered with saltwater. Not a lot of space in between. The longer we live, the more children that are born takes the planet closer to the tipping point. If it's not there already it soon will be. Bullshit, the problem is piggish capitalism...not God. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  7. I think the idea was to give people the ability to grow it themselves or obtain it from a legally recognized distributor, like your friend "The Dude" down the street, rather than paying some shady thug in the hood...or on "Wall Street" for that matter. Don't know, but apparently ingesting THC through baked goods gives you a "body buzz." Perhaps this relaxing effect may be more effective on chronic physical pain...or, now that I think about it - any physical pain. I think high dosage ingestion can be dangerous and certainly more debilitating. I think it should be reserved for those seeking a substitute to strong "pharmacized" pain killers. For the more "casual" user who prefers ingestion, they'd be better off stocking up on butter simmered in a crock-pot with the often wasted leaves and stems rather than wasting the money using the actual buds or hash oil. As for vaping? *looks into crystal ball* People are already using their electronic cigs to vaporize hash oil. It's only a matter of time before the public starts complaining - "we can't smell it...how are we supposed to know if our children are in the midst of drug addicts?!?!?!" or... Cop pulls you over for a California Stop..."Do you know why I pulled you ov...wait, is that an e-cig?" Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

  9. This one will be worth the time. What did you learn from watching it? That the lower the educational and social status of a person is, the easier it is to get them to believe the most absurd things. That the credit I gave to Bush 42 for all the money he spent in Africa for HIV prevention was bullshit and that he did more harm than good. This also confirmed my belief that hard core Christian evangelist are mentally disturbed. ...and that's fine. I'm sure you'll continue to align yourself with propaganda that supports various stereotypes and fuels your hatred, just as I'm sure Ugandans will continue to align themselves with propaganda showing that coprophilia and child molestation are the norms of homosexuality. 15. McDonald's has been fairly ingenious with methods of cost cutting and profit building, though I can't say it's been a good result for society at large. Now I suspect these happened regardless of min wage laws, so I'm not blaming it for these outcomes. -Pink slime and other sources of cheap "meat" increase health risk. -Rain forest attack in the Amazon to produce more cheap beef -the contribution to obesity of the Super Sized meals I'm more of a fan of the "up-selling" - extra cheese, apple pies, milkshakes, 50 cents for extra sauce - all that...super sized, mega sized, Ronald sized...hell, even Grimace sized for happy meals. Now if they were to pay 9-10/hr, perhaps it would open the window for more qualified employees who take pride in their work. They'd have the skill, enthusiasm and pride to actually up-sell consistently and efficiently... However, this could support the idea how minimum wage "will increase unemployment among workers without a high school education (by approximately two percentage points), increase unemployment among workers without high school diplomas in general (by approximately one percentage point), and have no effect on unemployment among college-educated workers," which I suppose kind of defeats the purpose of minimum wage? Personally, I think it would be best to keep the current gradual increase in minimum wage over several years, rather than jacking it up so dramatically...and especially not 50% as you've stated. I have doubts about their perceived efficiency...Mcdonalds monitors drive-thu orders from the time they're placed till the time they leave the pick-up window, however, they'll often ask customers to pull up front and wait by the door. (instead of being monitored.) Some franchises even have at least 3 designated parking spots where an employee will not only have to walk your order just outside the door, but across the parking lot to your designated waiting area. I find this to be extremely inefficient and misleading...perhaps even a liability. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

  17. Yep, sure does... Another question that came to mind is if Mcdonalds could even function efficiently without the help of that 30% during peek business hours? I still think an increase to 9-10/hr will take a large chunk of the profits, but believe that owners/managers are smart enough to find creative ways to make up the difference. Perhaps putting an extreme emphasis on "up-selling" could make up the difference alone? (which IMO, they should be doing already) Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

  19. The only ones concerned about helping the children are the those in the HRW who published the report, not the writer of this article. Rmuse is just another biased partisan loudmouth opinion columnist who doesn't even have the balls to use his real name. http://www.politicususa.com/about-us The only purpose of just about every one of his biased articles is to divide the country and smear republicans. That's all he really cares about, not the the children. From Article: The report from HRW says absolutely nothing about republicans... From article: Ya, all those cunning republicans paralyzed all those dopey democrats from action by pulling the wool right over their shifty google eyes...give me a break. This article is shit. The important thing here is the HRW report and what the federal government is going to do about it. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

  23. Like, in North Korea? I could easily outsource my $25-$50/hr post production work to India, Romania, Philippines, etc. for about $5-$10/hr with a couple clicks of the mouse and a few uploads, but I won't do it. You tend to get what you pay for. If I could find a few people overseas with the ability to produce the quality I want for 5-10/hr, then I might consider it, but only if it would allow me the time and money to invest it into my other small (tiny) business of providing home improvement services for the Elderly and property owners who offer housing assistance for low income tenants typically living in homeowner's associations where various home improvements are forced upon members who don't necessarily have the funds to pay the big dog contractors... I recently had a crisis of conscience where I was contemplating becoming one of those big dog contractors, thus defeating the purpose of starting the business in the first place. One night at the Saloon, I confided in an old wise man from Merrill Lynch...I told him about my dilemma...he said, "you can't get so emotional...you can't care about these people...none of them. The minute you start thinking that you're gonna be some type of savior of the community, then you're done...you're just done..." After a few choice words, I kindly thanked him for his honesty and clarity....he told me exactly what I needed to hear...I then happily stomped out of that hell-hole in great disdain of his business model...been sleeping like a baby ever since. 24. Well, that's not reasonable. I've already stated that $10/hr for McDonald's employees is not reasonable. It may be doable, but I think it's "unethical" for the employees to expect that given the hard earned $750,000 liquid investment of the franchise owner. However, $15/hr would most certainly solve America's obesity problem... Well, if the choice is hiring three people for $10 an hour (and giving them less work to do) or the two best for $15 an hour (and giving them more work to do) I'd argue that it's more ethical to hire all three, and thus employ the otherwise-unhirable guy. I've basically said that Mcdonalds could solve it's problem by firing 30% of it's workers and then giving the rest of it's employees more hours with a more consistent schedule to boost income and morale, thus making their employees happier and less likely to strike/protest. So I suppose that by my logic you would consider that to be unethical too...point taken. So what now? What do you think about this idea of "social capitalism?" Also, just another side issue with "erratic scheduling" What is it with all these companies hiring more people at 10-25 hours a week? It seems like they cut everyone's hours in half and doubled the amount of employees. Is this something new, or has it always been. I always remembered people working 40 hours in a consistent shift. Is there an incentive for businesses to do this? Is there a benefit for companies that superficially jack up the unemployment rate? Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
