Christianity is based on scripture, so it only makes sense to understand scripture as best we can. I'm more inspired by dedicated men who excercise due dilligence. Their arguments tend to show and understanding of hermeneutic concepts and typically embrace the cultural, historical and circumstantial context of a given time period and generally include an etymological background for any significant terms found in the selected scripture references... I'll take their arguments any day over some 20 year- old fresh outta some 2-year "seminary," who's only concern is to make you feel all warm and fuzzy by blowing hot air up your ass by telling you "this is what the bible means to me, so empty your pockets suckers, I got tuition bills to pay and the senior Pastor needs a new Bentley."
