joan, are you cooper?
-
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!! ok, who holds this record: lowest number of jumps for first 100 way???? so curious here.
-
Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ........... Gosh, I've been jumping for 30 years and only got 8 out of 10 correct. What a dummy I am! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- be safe the other 20 percent of the time!
-
ok, ive asked this several times. IS it Possible the Cooper went into the bathroom and somehow got into the "toilet Tank to hide and never made the jump??? There are indications that he was going into the bathroom for a long time.
-
looks like the french will be the only ones to know whats going on there..... how do i get to the introductory offers in English?
-
its all good. Ive seen some bad press here lately. when jumping, i used to hear DZs bashing DZs. seems this has spilled over into the tunnel community. Its about the people you meet and they flying....not the politics. Now we have been to Co, FL a couple/few times each with TN once and Hollywood once......the flying and people are what make the trip worthy........ as was with skydiving! bsbd

Low Pull Artists vs. Swoopers

I remember goining for one more point, in a 20 way in the 80s...... got the point, and all broke at no more than 2 grand! Couldent pull until ya got seperation! . WOW my heart still pumps fast thinking! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who did low pulls....nobody I ever heard of... ----------------------------------------------------------- "I didn't pull low." "Yes, you damn well did. When you pulled, I could count all the fingers on your left hand!" "Oh, okay. So, next time if I make my left hand into a fist it's okay?" Bill Bright(ness), BASE jumper and Skydive Houston CReW Dawg, discussing his 'maybe' low pull with the DZO on a lazy Friday afternoon. Oh, it was low alright. The ants were scattering on this one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Years ago...I had a bit of a 'reputation' for occasionally fudging on the rules in this area. My gear was an accuracy canopy with a 1/2 mesh slider and a frap strap, with pull-out PC - old style 1st generation wonderdog. Pulling the twinkie opened the pack tray and with the frap strap, openings were 'brisk' to say the least ... it was like hanging the pilotchute on a hook as ya fell past it... At ole Jim 'roundman' Delap's 'DZ & BBQ stand'....one evening we had 100 bucks on the first one to dead center the disk on the sunset load. I won the money but got drenched in Budweiser for: ~pullin' stupid low... Roundman said he 'had me on the clock' and it was less than 5 seconds under canopy...I mention to him that he wasn't wearing a watch...Delap just shook his head and said~ "I was watching the second hand on YOURS!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ripcord Theme ~ Black holes are where God divided by zero ~ in2jumping PM Friend Jumps License In sport : 400 : C 25554 : 9 years Jun 13, 2008, 11:09 PM Post #49 of 64 (446 views) Copy Shortcut Registered: Nov 26, 2007 Posts: 110 Re: [grimmie] Low Pull Artists vs. Swoopers [In reply to] Quote | Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No, we swoop 'cuz chicks dig it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chicks dig guys on crutches or in wheelchairs? dudeman17 PM Friend United States Jumps License In sport : : D : 29 years Jun 18, 2008, 9:58 AM Post #50 of 64 (331 views) Copy Shortcut Registered: Jun 18, 2008 Posts: 4 Re: [mjosparky] Low Pull Artists vs. Swoopers [In reply to] Quote | Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tail pocket or as you say “tailgate” was an invention of Hank Ascuitto in the early 80’s to control lines during deployment on free packed mains. Had nothing to do with BASE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually, Hank did not invent the line stow pocket. It was invented by someone at Para-Flite, I think Elek Puskas or Jake Brake if I had to hazard a guess, when they came out with the first square reserves, the Safety Star and the Safety Flyer, and it was on the side of the deployment bag as it is today. Hank, Al Frisby and a few others adapted it to the tail for freepacked mains. Al put one on my canopy when i got my first square about that time. I was the one who then brought it to BASE jumping, well over two and a half decades ago, when BASE jumping was first beginning. The other reply about the tail pocket and the tailgate being two different things is correct. -

Muskogee Article - Call for Stories & Pics
low_pull1 replied to BIGUN's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
80s Many jumps were made other than Muskogee. Norman (Paradise) Comes to mind as a care free zone. Island air and 182 jumps to do some of the first non national 10+ ways Grandfield as a Student Zone . Ross Wroblewski started the first students on squares. When squares were forbidden for students. DZ produeced a Couple of Golden Knights. At least one Lifer at the AFA, 1 AMerican Air Pilot, SW pilot (tom & bonnie pappas) Mike Smith D-8??? was the first Person in Tow behind a 182...he is in MD now , DZ Safety guru now....Was mentioned in Parachutist within the last couple of months. Tom Pappas, First Person to bag no less than 100 woman b4 he got married a second time. , Clinton, OK as the DZ where Mike ?? came from...the guy with the horns in the old roger nelson freak brothers Vid. John Combs, out law, lawyer, set the stage for 20 ways at nationals by starting a compitition with the Houstonians (talk to jack burke, spaceland/john combs, edmound ok). John and Jack can give u info on the start of 20 way while john / Bob Shoemier (sp?/) of other first stuff and Turbine happenings in OK (and a few records). Lots of wild crap including some base history in that area (Mark Herndon). Was mark the first to make 100 base jumps in Ok? Air Bears from Deland were fine tuned at a couple of the 80 nationals.... With Tom Pirus, Jack jeff, and Guy Manos +??(you need to talk to Guy in So Florida!) these guys started the fast 4 ways we do today.....and invented the knee turns that create the speed for fast turns and many points. Guy probably was the start of the percision/ big way dives.....i might be wrong on this....but many gathered in OK at Muskogee for this. Many firsts/History were probably made in Muskogee by the Air Force team, talk to Pat Schfnagel (sp??) about this... he was on the 100 way also. Nationals...80s.... team jumper to wear an aad...Tom Pirus! Thats Breakin the mold. i might be wrong in some cases...... Cant forget Charlie Bonner (sp?) , Overshot the College Stadium and broke himself up, when he crashed into the fat woman in the stands behind the end zone! -
Muskogee Article - Call for Stories & Pics
low_pull1 replied to BIGUN's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
norms camera was huge, i sat next to him in the mid 80s and he had me hold his camera for a sec when he was ready to jump....must have weighed 35lb.... (just a guess) ..................... Norman Kent told me a great story of how he got his start at Muskogee. he basically lied to channel 8 news that he knew how to use their camera so he got to take it up. Of course prior to the jump he spent an hour learning about the camera in his van. he tells it better but it is a great piece of our skydiving history. Wonder where Smitty the jumpers car is at? I have many polaroids of him and his car. -
im thinking its better press for Bill if he is banned! Let the ban live! Thats my opinion, but im truly for what bill desires.
-
thanks for the moving air. A few pictures of my son Erich Mais in the Orlando tunnel with me. ...too bad he is not old enough to buy beer! he owes us, but we will have to wait a few yrs The beer tradition for firsts does carry over from Skydiving to tunnel flying??? p.s. thats not me scratchin my butt in the tunnel! mm
-
interesting, the Author and photographer are "John Mullins" ....any relation the Mullins in TN??
-
Its your logbook. I log skydives in my tunnel logbook. I also Log the Type and Quantity of beers I Consume in my logbook. You cant tell me what to log in this great country, Texas

"back type" or what ever cooper used to ask for the rigs...must have been from a certain " group" Airborn type? if a civilian would have asked,,,,, would have been a "piggy back" type??? or ?? what did the non military jumpers call these back type rigs?
-
I found the following terminology used to sell an older parachute on Craigslist. seems that Cooper mentioned "back pack" .... what group of users of gear says "Back Pack" Airforce? Army? Pilots? did skydivers use terminology such as back pack to describe a rig?? "Air Force Back Back Type Parachute Great Price Also Have Vintage One - $325" here is the link http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/clt/743359161.html

Jo, seems odd that one more time, Duane was near a skydiving center "Loveland" just a few miles from Collins ........ Just a little error on the keyboard. We lived in Ft. Collins Co and he got a DUI there in 1979 or maybe early 1980. .................
-
seems the design needs to be tweeked to allow the best of a recirculator or non recirulator.....someway to dump the hear from the motors on hot days and a way to use the hear on cold....im sure its already in the works.
-
where did all the sky "surfers" go? .... oh well, i guess i could learn "style" base jumping, wing suit style anyone?? i cant believe what im reading in this thread! "break a leg"
-
at one time you were saying duane woke up in a nightmare talkin about his prints...and u were forceing the print issue,,,now bakc peddling? ..... NOTE: Nothing has changed regarding Duane - NOTHING. They do not know if any of the prints belonged to Cooper. I have no verification that the 1944 prints and the 1966 prints match and why Duane's prints as per the file are not on that resume. This raises a lot of questions in MY mind as to the credibility of the prints. ....
