  1. You might be right about me reversing my meaning inadvertently. I was making a sarcastic crack about "democrats are no more philosophically liberal" and saying, in essence, that all of them are. But true, I was meaning that the ones you meet, talk to, etc. are philosophically leftist. I kinda botched the joke, I guess. Happens. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  2. I didn't miss the point; I was just making a joke. And I guess I don't really pay enough attention to what other people are doing when I'm shopping (unless they're in my way) to notice how they're comparing prices. And I've never found the need to carry around a calculator while shopping, since I find it fairly easy to estimate a unit price without one. But it doesn't make me sad to think that someone else might need to use a calculator for such things. Terribly, terribly sad. The point, I think, is not that I "need" the calculator; the point is, let me ask, do YOU think that many or most people know how to arrive at a price-per-ounce (or pound) price comparison? I just don't have that confidence. Needing a calculator comes about because I am not able to do the long mulitiplication involved in my head. I'm fine with admitting that. But at least I know how to solve the actual problem. I wonder, if there was a guy who walks to the store to shop, but he has CP and uses crutches to get there, would you praise him for walking to the store or condemn him because he's so frail he needs crutches and makes no attempt to hide them? 3. Oh, ain't you heard? They're now referred to as "the people who speak in THAT substandard way." A bit wordy, but hey, it sho' do get de point acrost, don' it? (Sho 'nuff.) http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3314957;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Ain't no jiiiive, son. Yo, whud it be like? 4. It took FIVE POSTS to finally get some TRUTH, and you find that "excellent"? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  5. Oooh, now that you've pre-empted us, Billvon, that criticism will no longer be valid no matter how valid it might be. Slick move! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  6. I thought you were going to ask, "...will they begin confiscating the guns of peaceable citizens who have zero police protection in the storm's aftermath while the looting takes place?" Color me surprised. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  7. When leftist, big-government fans want to pass gun bans, they trot out the survivors of those who have been shot to death by criminals who got ahold of guns. Yet when we trot out people (like you, Nomad) who say they have lived how bad government-run health care is to show why it should be opposed, they will dismiss these "anecdotes" as irrelevant. Right, and when the neo-con, blood-thirsty machine wants to convict people, they wave pictures of dead kids. Funny, that's the sort of grave-dancing that the anti-gunners do when they are trying to ban guns! That and the filling a parking lot with empty shoes. Why are you restating the very thing I replied to? What, you can't discern the difference between "survivors" and "VICTIMS"? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  8. OF COURSE NOT!!! I would never ask another person to do anything he/she didn't want to do. BUT I'd like to be given the same consideration. I already work plenty long hours (how's that for the King's English) linz It's far from, quote, "standard" but we knew what you meant so it's all good, yo. Why you said dat, anywayz? 9. Why would you respond before I gave you my answer, which is negative? You asked if I did; then you said I was cool for doing it; then I told you that no, I don't. Sucks though that I'm no longer cool, in your view, now. Is it at least possible that I'm still cool, but for some other reason? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  10. You keep going on and on and on about "spelling rants," when the fact is they are few and far between, if any. Then you cited where I suggested to "nerdgirl" that "impact" is improperly- and over-used, as "proof" that I'm a "grammar-Nazi," cleverly omitting the part where I politely thanked her for considering my suggestion. I think by now if "virtually everyone" is watching, they have seen how you can twist things and fail to respond honestly when called out for it. "Deprives"? Oh, so now if you aren't handing someone something for "free", you're "depriving" them of it. Wow. Holy fuck! -- My government has deprived me of a the Cessna Citation X that I'm due!! 12. Quotation marks must be cultural, too. You know, for like when you're citing a specific "word"? Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  13. Maybe the rest of the people aren't doing what you're doing because they have noticed that the price per pound is already listed in small writing next to the overall price. Actually, I think it's not given on that stuff. I could be wrong, but I think that's why I did the calculation. And I guess you missed the point: which was (here's a gimme) that I feel sadly confident that most people just don't know how to do that kind of figuring. 14. Ohhh, that one made my weekend! Thanks! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  15. Wrongness is a cultural attribute, huh? What a thing to be proud of. I can't wait until countries start putting representations of their failure to get a man into space on their flags, now, too. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  16. Oooh. What a zinger. You really got me with that one. How ever shall I recover? I walked right into the ol' "He must have never had sex" rankout. Ouch. I am reeling. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  17. Just FYI.. i'm a she not a he :) You know it happens, with the facial hair and all.... OMG! -- I'm sorry for being clueless! I don't think I ever even looked at the avatar, actually! Seriously, I apologize! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  18. It was a badass pretzel. We're talkin' worth-standin'-in-line-for pretzel. Pretzel that tasted good, the lady next to me gained weight. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  19. Every time someone makes a claim like this, and wants to tout someone's "experience," I want to shake them and say, "Well, HOW FUCKING WELL ARE THINGS BEING RUN WHERE THEY ARE FROM?!" I mean really, who here comes from a town or city or county or state our country that they feel is just hunky-dory, everything just chipper, everyone has all they need, there are no problems, and the government is doing a fine job?! 20. I believe he said "Lasermax," not "night scope"... He already said that he reported the theft. Why don't we cut him some slack. He did admit to what he did, and he did say he'll correct his mis-approach to securing his guns in the future. Why don't we give him that chance? I, too, think it was foolish to leave a gun in the car for any significant length of time. But even law enforcement officers do stupid shit like this from time to time. I've also read about them leaving guns on top of their cars and driving off, losing them! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
  21. I can't visualize what you're talking about yet, but I'm here to offer moral support. I have a 170 Lotus, which I am told is like a Big Air version of the Sabre 2. I still have a tough time getting it into its D-bag. I'm better than I was, but not as good as I hope to someday be. Hopefully by that time I'll be jumping a 150 and it'll be easier on me anyway. 23. *sits down and drinks tea and dunks a rich tea biscuit triumphantly* "Triumphantly"? Need I remind you, you limeys LOST the war... Which one is THE war? 1812? In context, without attempts at obvious obfuscation, kallend? The War for American Independence. Only because you were bailed out by the French Plus, we got this cool-ass statue of one tough, matronly lookin' broad! Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
