Yes, yes, and no. Public school - paid by taxes in which my parents have contributed to and that I conbribute to now. Public Roads - Same answer as public schools. Plane is privatley leased and barely breaks even. If the plane was somehow fully or partialy funded, I personally would have to pay the same amount if it was or wasn't, so I'm still working just as hard to finance that. The way I see it, if it was somehow funded I would be paying my jump to plus whatever insignificant amout out of my taxes to fund that portion, so would be paying more. Public school and roads have nothing to do with Healthcare. I pay taxes, so they are there. Its part of our infastructure. However, healthcare is not. I do not pay a premium for new road work to be done even if there is nothing wrong with it. I do however pay a premium for health insurance I've acquired for ?it? (my body), even though nothing is wrong with 'it'. There is a difference. To Billvon - If an oportunity is not there, one must create it themselves. Like I said, life is tough and nothing is owed to you. If you don't like life on lifes terms, kick it in the nuts and find a new one for yourself. If I followed the life I was dealt with, I would not have any ambition to improve myself, be a composive gambler, quit school, find some job to just get by, be an alchoholic, try to pay as little taxes as I can, have the government pay for my housing and get foods stamps and/or government healthcare. Sorry for the weird examples, but some referenced my parents and there lack of ambitions and problems(again not insulting my parents. I love both, but I stated facts to prove a point). If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Oddly enough, it seems 100% of people opposed to this already have healthcare. I've got a couple friends who went to DC last weekend to protest against government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare, despite enjoying exactly that themselves. Blues, Dave Could it be that we with healthcare hate that freeloaders will now have an easy chance at something we busted our ass to get. With exceptions of course. Just a month or two back I saw some lady buying a flat screen at walmart she was buying and then proceded to pay for her groceries with her food stamps. While i'm at home watching my tube tv and basic cable, because I pay for my Healthcare, isurance, college, and of course skydiving. You know the priorities in life. I live better now in college and working a job I got by my own doings, than I did with my dirt poor family (not insulting my family, but just proving a point). Unfortunatley we live in an unequal world(except for now of course), where there are legitimate people who understand that life is tough and do something about it for themselves and where there are alot that want everything handed to them because they feel they got the short end of the stick and the world or government owes them something. I call shenanigans, man up and do something for yourself. No one owes you anything, including healthcare. As far as for the small businesses that will be forced to provide health care, I feel sorry for them. Healthcare should have nothing to do with work, unless the employer wants to offer it or if you get hurt on the job. I know some people legitimately need more help because they are incapable, but robbing from the capable (not just the rich but also the working class) is not the way to do it. This is reality and not some Robin hood fairytale. Hard working Americans are going to be adversly affected. My .02! If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

I'm 21, I pay for my cost of living, college (student loans which I will have to pay back), car insurance, and health care. If I can come from a family living from pay check to pay check to acquiring a decent job on my own and putting myself through college while paying for insurances, living, and skydiving, then the majority can do something similar. Its hard out there, but still doable. It actually sucks that many who don't even put in the effort will have equal opportunity along with those who bust ass at life. Now, I agree some people are not capable of doing on there own, but alot don't deserve. Different legislation should be set to protect them more efficiently and not freeloaders. Off topic, I can't even get a grant for college because my mom "makes too much"(which is not alot) and she can't help out. In Louisiana your seen as a dependent college student until age 23 or 24. I can't remember. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Rules 1 and 2: You never talk about Fight Club! Edit: I missed post #58. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room! -
I have not been following the thread, so sorry for the late response. The C206 has a rear cargo door, so the GoPro is mount around 2-3 ft. toward the front of the plane from the leading edge of the door frame and about 6 inches or so from the body of the plane. It is mounted upside on the underside of the wing (the picture/video has to be rotated on a computer to see in rightside up). We have to physically turn on the camera by reaching out of the door. Not ideal, but it is a quick and easy setup. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

At my sister's wedding reception a few years back, I got into an a friendly argument with a guy that says he has friends that skydive. He followed with saying that when the pull there ripcord that they fly up a 1000'. I say, oh really, they must have been haulin ass. Did they pull in a head down position? Yeah they like going really fast. Then I proceded to explain how its actually works. He flatout started to argue against me insisting that its physics, and your going so fast that you have to fly up when you pull your chute. Also, after I told him of the dangers of pulling head down, he argued against that as well. He would not back down from his lie. It was fustratiing. We mounted a GoPro to the wing of our C-206 using the sticky mount. Works just fine. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Ahh.. no worries. I misunderstood what you were talking about, but yeah it does bring up the possibility of misrouting/rigging. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Sounds like the definition of insanity, by Mr. Einstein (I think that is who said it). "Insanity is repeating something over and over, expecting a different result." If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

I have never been paid. We just do them for cost. The Demos we do around here are not typically big events and its hard to ask for to much more than the cost to do the demo. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Good Answer! If your solo just go to belly around 1000-1500 ft above pull and you'll be fine, but I could be wrong. Just start by pulling right out of a heads down, if that hurts a little bit, then just keep waiting a little longer each jump until you have good openings. Please don't take the above seriously, unless you've got the balls. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Cough Cough...bullshit....Cough! I would agree with 3.2 sec, but less than 3 sec. Your the Zen Master. Alright even if you had the ninja abilities to do so (you must BASE jump

Although this jumper had altitude, IMO, trying to hook knife a horse shoe is a stupid idea at its best. It would take too much time to retrieve the knife, then to catch the bridal with it (by the way the bridal will not be in a static position), and then make the cut. After that you need to get stable and throw out. With a bridal wrapped around your leg, you will probably be on your back trying to cut the bridal, thus falling faster, no altitude awareness relative to the ground (which can be useful during a high speed mal. because that is a fastest altitude check then anything else, IMO). Try doing that during a high speed malfunction when pulling on a normal skydive. Again, this jumper had altitude, but this is not a reasonable solution to this malfunction at all, IMO. You can easily bounce, or if your battery powered, have your AAD fire doing this. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

I did not get to read all the post, so I don't know if it was mentioned. But you need to be aware of the direction of the relative wind. If unaware it can send your pilot chut into a burble or into the wrong direction (in your case around your legs). I did a hop n pop for a demo a few months back, and when I threw out my pilot chute got caught in my burble and hit my smoke bracket and then hit the back of my head due to a "sissy" throw on my part. My relative wind was at the point of transitioning to vertical, so my body was about 45 degrees toward the relative wind thus creating the wierd burble (my assumption). A good throw out would have solved that. Arch, realize where the relative wind is on a hop n pop, and give a throw out in a stable position. At 5,000 ft. stability has priority over pulling. Keep your head up and stay calm in those situations and react accordingly.

He probably deployed because he was getting low. Deploying in the middle of a summersault is just fine. Once you pitch, the drag of the PC and the canopy coming out should keep you from over rotating too much. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!
-
On really cold jumps my right forarm tends to cramp up under canopy, and this caused my hand to become weak and lose a little feeling. I just have to pay close attention to as to not lose my grip when flaring. Just something with my joints or tendons I guess. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

+1 Althought there are legitimate skydivers, there are quite a few that are attracted because of an addictive personality. Which is the same category as drug abusers. I think we've all figured out that there are a significant amount of skydivers that use recreational drugs. My DRUG of choice: SKYDIVING!!! Oh, wait its actually not a drug, I must be high. Dudes, I'm in! Let us know when to final logo is decided upon, but take your time. Its not dude like to rush that shit. D.S. #25 If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

Out of the reserve rides I had I just pulled that shit. If your commited then your commited. If you "peel then pull" then the time between peeling and pulling should be short enough to where the mal should not clear. If it does then work on your second nature responses. If I was in the situation and had enough altitude (which you should be aware of) and have yellow through the 3-ring loop then just pull that shit back through. If your not comfortable with it, then don't think and just cutaway. If your low enough, thinking can get you killed. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!

getting a new micron please help with container size :/

Buy used, use aad & helmet money on jumps, downsize as fast as you can, pull low, and have fun. C'mon guys, use common sense and ask the people you are jumping with. A.K.A not a forum. If you want to downsize rapidly then do so and don't post it online. We'll find out in either an accident forum or in the top results of a competition post. Either way good luck, and oh yeah, pull low. And if you go in, please do so with good form. If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room! -
A while back I was traveling with my rig. When it got x-rayed the apparently new TSA officer looked like she had seen a ghost when looking at all the metal and steel cables within the rig. So, she called over her supervisor and he new what it was, but he wanted to do a chemical swab test for bomb residue. No big deal, but I realized I frequently jump with smoke in demo jumps and get slag and most likely a significant amount of smoke residue. It checked out clean and all was well. My question is, Are the chemicals in the average smoke canister not on the list to get checked or was it not a significant amount on my rig? Anyone out there who jumps smoke or pyrotechics ever have a problem? If you're not living on the edge; you're taking up too much room!
